That way, fights can actually be designed so that damage is huge and there are more heal checks, but if the healers die, you can still stabilize.

Yeah there's no actual loot, just title, weapon and bragging rights. It's meant for really hardcore players, in fact, only a few hundred people did clear Ultimate, a 0.5% or something. ShB will have more ultimates yes, every odd numbered patch. Since we got Bahamut Ultimate and Ultima Weapon Ultimate in SB (8-man raid boss and final boss of Realm Reborn) we're expecting to see Alexander (8-man raid from Heavensward) and Thordan (final boss of Heavensward)

The weapons are typically BiS for that raid tier since they're the same ilvl as raid weapons but have an extra materia slot.

Yoshi got asked about ultimates a bunch of times in the media tour. He said they'll definitely do two, but haven't yet decided if they'll do a third. The content plan for the 5.X patch series will be finalized around the end of June which is when they'll decide if a third ultimate is happening.

Played ARR and it bored me, but I code a free code for Heavensward. Should I bother trying to play FFXIV again?

You will normally see mechanics that are in the easier versions of the fights but turned up to 11. For example, in the Bahamut fight, there are these towers you need to stand inside and they randomly spawn on the arena. In the Ultimate version of the fight, those towers spawn inside the outer ring of the arena, which instantly kills you if you touch them and the boss use a knockback attack, so you have to slide inside the towers. They will have new mechanics as well though like in Ultima Weapon Ultimate where, if you do the mechanics "right", it will instantly wipe the raid at one point. People later found out that you have to go out of your way to "fail" the mechanics to get a buff that lets you survive that instant wipe mechanic. Crazy shit my dude

Ultimate fights are what EX's are to normal; the same core mechanics exist, but they're much more punishing, harder to predict, and are handled differently. Like Ifrit for example, the order you kill the nails is what determines the charging order of his clones for the next mechanic, or how Titan now shits out back to back triple-forked landslides (one of which has no telegraph).

All they'd have to do is add a multiplier to mob stats based on the highest party member's unsynced level and role (obviously you wouldn't want to add as much hp to mobs for a high level healer as opposed to a high level dps, etc), and put tank stances at level 15 so dps won't take threat off tanks.

It's always worth getting into, it's very noob friendly. If you see the game as a singleplayer JRPG you'll enjoy the early game a lot more though

No, WHM can clear content because on a basic standpoint it can heal content just fine, but in a advanced one it's not a good job right now.

DPS potencies aren't that much higher than AST/SCH and due to WHM lacking mobility, the moment WHM moves it loses dps. This is what allows AST to pull the same personal dps as WHM for some reason despite having raid buffs.
Healing wise the other 2 healers are better equipped ogcd wise, 720 potency aoe heal every min and a 500 potency aoe heal every 30 seconds are too fucking strong. Cure III might be the strongest aoe heal in the game but it's only the strongest if there's constant waves of damage which do not exist.
Thirdly, job gauge plays against the job.

ShB is fixing 3 things, raid buffs have less of a weight than they have as they were generally nerfed, WHM now has a decent dps gap between AST and SCH making their pure heal/pure dps more distinct and WHM now has means to keep dpsing while moving.

That's why I'm waiting to play the 3 jobs before saying anything, calling REEEE WHM IS SHIT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING FOR MY ORANGE PARSE is fucking retarded and no wonder yoship laughed.

start on a home world that has a star on it so you get an exp boost, you won't miss anything from being slightly overleveled.

all classes start really slowly. recommend marauder, conjurer or thaumaturge for their respective starting areas.

AST already is the least mana efficient of the 3, so no real change there.

I can't imagine AST struggling with MP unless you play like an idiot. You have additional healing tools to make up for loss of efficiency and recovery and Lightspeed got buffed too.

He was using thin air and assize on cooldown on WHM but he was only using lucid at 20%s, while that might've given the impression that WHM has a lot of mp, it also gives the impression that the other healers have shit mp management.

Also holy is a complete beast in terms of spam in shb, WHM in the media build can use 16 holy before using any mp regen while the current can only cast 8 before going oom. Meanwhile some other spells like cure III and medica II are a lot more expensive mp wise and those spells are not being used in the media build since they only ran dungeons.

I'm going to laugh if the way they balanced healer gameplay is by just making them run out of MP if they try to push DPS.
