It's the labor market.
High demand for labor (which talking heads on TV will assure you would be absolutely catastrophic) means employees are valued. Since there's competition for labor, employers don't have a choice but give them good conditions.
Low demand for labor means employees are not valued. There's very little you can do give them good condition.
Corporations collude with governments to maintain a constant labor surplus. Even """progressives""" will very often support those policies for some reason or other (which makes the progressive stuff that they support ineffective by design).

So as someone who is leftist and has stocks, I will say that stock prices are very volatile and changes like this can be fleeting. For all we know, this will be good for Nintendo in the long run because they have more dedicated employees who feel appreciated. Stocks being sold might just reflect short-term traders.

The whole reason a lot of worker reforms took off is because Henry Ford implemented them at his factories, decades before they were required by law. The better working practices increased the commitment of the worker and attract more to his employment. It was a success within the capitalist system, as it increased the quality and efficiency of his worker's craft.

Ergo, if you want to see change in the world and think it'll make the practice better, then you need to actually nut up and start your own studio, using better working practices to attract higher quality developers and succeed through the merits of your work. This is one of the few professional fields where it's easy to make something with little starting capital as long as you have bodies for labor, so if you're complaining about being mistreated without being willing to take the risk yourself, then you deserve to be shat on.

I think it's actually pretty likely that most of the people on some sort of welfare do actually need it, the problem is rather that there's not a system to actually help people transition from being on welfare and disability and such into actually making enough money on their own to not need it.

When you are on those services, you can't earn over X amount of money without losing your services. That makes sense, since if you are making a decent wage on your own you shouldn't need the help... but you'll also never GET to making a decent wage without working some to begin with, which already puts you over that X amount ,most of the time.

So people are litterally punished for trying to be self-sustainable.

Also, as an aside, I don't get the drama over welfare in particular: ALL taxes are money the goverment takes for you and re-distributes for the sake of public good. Why is welfare any different from taxes that funds schools or helps fixes roads, etc?

In any case, once automation takes off, the goverment is going to need to start to heavily tax corporations using automation instead of hiring people to then give out as basic income or something or else the entire captalistic economic model is gonna collapse, because there's litterally not going to be enough people whoi can afford to buy the products being produced
