yeah make sure you have all the DLCs
the game is literally split in million pieces.

Biotic makes the game piss easy for the first game.

don't waste you time, mass effect 3 ruined the whole franchise retroactively.

play the witcher

So either Adept or Vanguard is the best choice for the first game?
Yup I got the DLCs already, thanks though user

Biotics if you want to be OP, Soldier if you're braindead and need the HP. A lot of people think Femshep gives a better VA performance but it doesn't really matter, I like male Shep just fine. My advice, just be prepared for how the franchise as a whole ends. It's a great ride to get there but ME3's final moments are almost universally considered disappointing.

Only males can get the best girl

Attached: 1533146472478.jpg (1080x1920, 364K)

Yeah, I heard 3's ending shits on the franchise, but honestly in it for the journey and heard 1 and 2 are great.

Vanguard is really cool in 2 it's okay in 1

Vanguard, Date Liara, Femshep, keep only two party members with you the entire game then swap them for two other ones for the entire game on your next play through and pick a new class. I'd recommend starting with Garrus and Wrex, also dump everything into shotguns as fast as you can.

Soldier gets the best gear by far in 1, the rest of the series it's a far different story and his powers are the most broken but boring.

Also, with the right combinations you can make it so your weapons fire almost infinitely even on insanity.

>honestly in it for the journey
the journey will become retroactively shit

unironically don't bother plus they'll remake/remaster it any year now

You can turn your sniper rifle into a cannon.

ME3 with all DLC is a 9/10 game
ME3 with the free fixed ending is an 8/10
Don't let brainlets make you think it's bad.

But for the most complete experience you, unfortunately, have to buy all the DLC for each game since situations from past games' dlc come up again in the other games. I enjoyed the series multiple times without it, but damn does it add quite a bit to the franchise.

Don't get fussed with planet exploration since they're just giant Unity-tier maps with like 3 or 4 things in them. Put on a podcast or youtube videos on another screen if you're going to be bothered to do it.

Anyway, it's ultimately a squad-based console aRPG TPS, so don't worry about buggering it up too badly. Pretty simple game. So it's weird how the sequels got so braindead.

Don't forget to go to the moon to pick up your sweet prestige class.
Make sure you level one of your social skills otherwise people gonna die.

>ME has 2 DLCs
>only one is story DLC

>plus they'll remake/remaster it any year now
It's becoming popular enough to reboot your own IPs now that I could believe this, but Bio will be axed before this will become a reality.

It depends really, but the easiest class to learn is Soldier, and NEVER play Femshep, it breaks the immersion of a super soldier since how could a fucking woman ever be a better soldier than a man lmao.

Also, Male Shep just looks a hundred times better than any other face in the entire game, excluding wrex and liara.

>ME3 with the free fixed ending is an 8/10
>fixed
it doesn't fix ANYTHING, it just digs the shithole deeper

>2
What is the second? I remember the one with the VR training missions and the asshurt turian.

bio now has nothing to do with bio that made the first mass effect

>Everyone acting like ME3 is what killed the series
>Not ME2 with it's blatant lore rape and conversion into a Gears clone

You guys are fucking stupid

>it's blatant lore rape
it's not
>conversion into a Gears clone
and that was a good thing

Bring Down The Sky, saving the colony from the asteroid taken over by Batarian terrorists

Pinnacle Station, doing stupid time trials to win a shitty house and cheap Rank X equipment

>Power of Cerberus becomes even more wildly implausible
>Major choice from end of 2 literally does not matter
>Who makes up the Council literally does not matter
>Geth/Quarian lore is irreversibly fucked and wildly inconsistent
>Cereal Man
Its a 5/10 at best and that is mostly due to the combat being genuinely good for once, maybe 6/10 if you include the top tier multiplayer.

Are you still upset about the whole reloading thing?

>DUDE WHY DIDNT SHEPHERD TURN INTO SUPERMAN AND FLY AROUND KILLING THE BAD GUYS WITH ONE HAND WHILE TITTYFUCKING LIARA

The ending was fixed. Only brainlets who wanted some retardedly out of lore/story ending think it's bad.

What does the Soldier really get over the Infiltrator?
>The armor bonus from heavy armor over medium armor is not as good as the shield bonus you get from the Electronics skill
>Assault Rifles and Shotguns are useless because they can't hit anything more than 1 foot away

Absolutely. It was the most fucking retarded design decision that was so blatantly made by the suits in upper management of EA, along with all the cut game improvement opportunities that were replaced with time wasting bullshit such as planet scanning and fire walker "missions"

I'll bite. Who said that quote and how does the shit that literally comes out of nowhere and ignores everything previously established fix anything?

Obviously, but that doesn't matter in relation to what I said. The name Bioware still exists, even if it's a shitty clone of the original. If Bio gets killed, Mass Effect and Dragon Age are killed by default. EA only brings back dead IP to do gacha shit like that C&C mobile game.

ME1 is the only game in the series in which you can really play as a biotic god that simply destroy everything around you with fun in game physics.
go adept in me 1, any weapon focused class in me2, and don't play me3.
paragon male shep
renegade femshep

People wanted this ending
youtube.com/watch?v=0nxccF1VrQM

Male shep all the way

Are you a man? Why would you play as female Sheperd? Are you some kind of faggot?

Or alternatively ANYTHING ELSE besides complete disregard for EVERYTHING you did to get to this point and just pick your favorite color.

The problem with Mass Effect 3's ending wasn't that it was bittersweet. Hell, I'd have been fine if the Reapers won. They were never depicted remotely strong enough, they should have been chowing down planets and system as Shepherd was barely in front of them looking like hell for an answer.

The problem was that it ignored every fucking choice up to then.

Inventory management is absolute garbage, be prepared.

>Cerberus
Completely explained in 3.
>Major choice at the end of 2 ignored
True, but I think the real "major choice" of 2's ending is the choices you make during the final mission with your team.
>Council
It gives different outcomes and dialogue in the next two games, so I'm not sure what exactly you expect. It also could heavily affect your ME3 run if you're no-guiding a run through the franchise.
>Geth/Quarian
Explained in 3.
>Cereal man
That is easily one of the worst things about ME3, so I'll give you that one.

Dude, they implemented thermal clips WRONG.

They had all the lore there written and waiting to be used and it still would have kept the weapons feeling futuristic and original.

>guns still have near unlimited ammo
>thermal clips are much rarer pickups from ammo crates scattered over entire levels
>thermal clips are an item with limited inventory space that can be OPTIONALLY ejected out of your weapon for an immediate weapon cool down when overheated or close to, for long periods of sustained fire

There. I just added a reload system to your game to satisfy the suits AND i kept it relevant to the lore.

Yeah I don't disagree with you, but it's just fucking petty at this point. After everything that ME3 did, or didn't do, you people are still hung up on ME2's reload system.

Romance Liara

Attached: 1493917934830.png (1920x1080, 2.54M)

Cerberus is not fucking in ME3 you twat. Turning a bunch of people into husks doesn't explain where all the guns, armour and fucking ships came from.

ME2 stretched credibility in itself and even that had the good sense to claim that building the Normandy and resurrecting Shepard was a massive financial drain and cost most of their resources. But then in the 6 months between 2 and 3, wow, now they're their own army and navy standing toe to toe with the Systems Alliance

Gosh, maybe it's really just that bad system

Of course it ignored almost choice. There comes a point in the story where deciding to punch a reporter just doesn't fucking matter when it's a war that either ends in victory or defeat. What people really wanted was to see the outcome of their choices - which is what the extended cut added.

>ha ha I'll just use a minor example like hitting a girl instead of, say, the final choice of the second game
>that will surely prove my point

NONE of your choices mattered. Not a single fucking one.

The biggest problem is that they never made GOTY editions and the prices of the DLC never went down.

BEST girl by far.

Attached: 6443be89-eda2-481e-95ef-79966a819f0c.jpg (653x858, 391K)

Because it changed combat drastically and shit all over the pretty decent universe building of the first game for the sake of checking a box.

It's just one part of a multitude of terrible gameplay changes made in ME2.

Explain this meme to me.

>Should we focus on military or sciency stuff?
>LMAO jk it doesn't matter.

>Completely explained in 3.
Their ability to invade and successfully occupy entire turian and human planets was successfully explained in 3? I'm not talking about manpower, their massive jump in materiel is absurd and never explained.
>so I'm not sure what exactly you expect
Maybe change how the different races are willing to respond to the crisis? Take the turians for instance. They're the only race in the entire fucking galaxy that is willing to help out the Alliance without forcing Shepard to crawl through a mile of shit and politics first. If the prick from 1 was still alive then they could have been unwilling to help out but to balance it out maybe the Salarians wouldn't sit on the sidelines for the entire fucking war. Stuff like that. Swaping out a few missions and some dialogue would be enough here.
>Explained in 3.
Yes, but done very, very poorly.

Origin has dlc bundles for me2 and 3. They're on sale right now.

ME3 made many more missteps by far. The reloading is a non issue. If you want to talk about how ME2 fucked up combat why wouldn't you mention the multitutde of bullshit overpowered guns they showered you with?

Asari are sexual parasites and deceive you about their true form.

They don't but let's not let critical thinking get in the way of a shitty meme

>bullshit overpowered guns they showered you with?
Which ones?

Hey you fucking retard OP hasn't played the game.
Cerberus was taking over ENTIRE planets and pillaging other planets. That's where all their resources came from. And ME2's entire resurrection was some fucking stupid writer's idea to railroad you into working with a morally grey company. Even Bioware acknowledged it was a stupid lore-busting plot point with the Citadel DLC.

>Hurrr
Blatantly wrong. Your choices decided your available endings :^)

They did focus it on military shit. That's why it makes sense to have a vast majority of your decisions to not matter at the end because ultimately it was tons of good guy spaceships vs tons of bad guy spaceships x10. We just wanted to see how everything ultimately panned out.

>done very poorly
That's just because you didn't like it. The geth proved the Quarians were conniving cunts who twisted the narrative of what happened so they could get support.
The race leaders do respond differently, but you're right that there isn't any unique missions or mission shortcuts that are unlocked by your choices

And I'd recommend to buy it now. They almost never discount the DLC since that's their way to squeeze every fucking cent out of you

Attached: 1554975566365.jpg (600x900, 137K)

>The geth proved the Quarians were conniving cunts who twisted the narrative of what happened so they could get support.
And that still doesn't explain the Geth's extermination of >99% of the Quarians (To get these numbers you have to stark killing children, the old, the infirm, etc; it was more than just a war of survival) and their shoot on sight policy for any ships going past the Veil. The Geth didn't stop being genocidal retards because the Quarians did it first.

>mass effect zoomers
Considering how ME3 came out in 2012, I doubt most zoomers have played the Mass Effect games, nevermind heard of them. What the fuck kind of crack are you smoking?

I mean, ME2 had other problems, like everything outside of some of the characters being pretty bad. I'd argue the plot's worse than ME3's in a lot of ways because ~80% of the game is just going around and picking up dudes

Soldier and male. Classes don't matter really and soldier is the best way to play.

Why this game is called mass effect? it got nothing to do with main plot

Every thread the same autist

Fuck off you reddit spacing nigger. Removing the shitty overheating mechanic was a good thing and they did it because 99% of the play base wanted it. If you don't like it, don't play it and there is also something called gameplay balance. Being a contrarian doesnt make you interesting nor does anyone care about your opinion, seen with Mass Effect 2 and 3, both far higher acclaimed games than Mass Effect 1.

>because 99% of the play base wanted it
[citation needed]

Adept is best for combat, which is a shame because it makes the least sense storywise (it's very minor bits of dialogue but it still triggers my autism).

>uhh changes are made out of nowhere and not because they listen to the community xD
Mass Effect developer interview 2010, the making of Mass Effect 2 to be precise.

3's ending retroactively makes the other games' stories shit. It isn't obvious at first, and you'll still think that it's "the journey" that counts. When you try to replay the series, though, you'll see.

Pardon me while I don't really take THEIR word for granted.

Male Shepherd. For ME1 you should play either Soldier, Vanguard, or Adept.
Adept if you want to be a scifi mage with telekinesis.
Soldier if you want the run and gun gameplay.
Vanguard if you want a mixture.
Make you use pistols in ME1, there OP. Once you get to 2, you can switch to whatever class you want, since they're all fun and actually play differently

Use mods to increase the walking speed and auto-solve the annoying minigames.

The otherheating mechanic was WAY better than the bog standard reload system that exists in every other game

>create interesting gun mechanics that shave off tiny pieces of tungsten from a block then fires them at near light speed
>lmao fuck it just give them clips that didn't exist and put them on an ancient ship XD

>b-but the community
Absolute bullshit. EA said "make it gears" so they capitulated.

You dumb cunt

>Which class is the best in ME1?
I think the most fun is one of the classes with biotic abilities, like vanguard or adept. It's a shitload of fun running around with a super powerful shotgun while using biotic abilities to paralyze people or fling them around in the air as ragdolls. I'd stay away from the normie-tier classes like Soldier, simply because they're just so bog-standard and don't allow you to experience anything near as fun.

And as an added bonus, if you pick vanguard for ME1, that means importing your vanguard character into ME2, which is hands-down the most fun class in that game as well because of the biotic charge gameplay

>Femshep or male Shepard?
Male shep is superior. Not only do you get the higher-quality face model, whereas with femshep you have to use the oblivion-tier face generator that will always make your character look like clay. And while both voice actors are fine, it just feels off with femshep, because trying to act like a strong tough guy as a woman just doesn't work out as well. Doesn't come off very natural like Mark Meer's voice acting.

People who like to shit on ME2 tend to ignore just how much it expanded the ME universe after ME1.

husks were so fucking dangerous on insanity in ME1 jesus fucking christ

Both ME1 and ME2 have their pros and cons. You're right that ME2 does an excellent job fleshing out the ME universe with all its little slice-of-life quests. At the same time, this type of small-scale character-focused is the complete opposite of ME1's writing that focused more on sweeping large-scale events like a classic space opera. So while ME2's character writing is great, it's also a bit disappointing that ME1's large-scale plots and writing aren't really there with the weak main plot.

Well, yeah. That's why it's called "insanity"

Thank you for all the replies guys, I guess now I'm just torn between either Soldier or Vanguard. Does my choice here impact ME2? Or can I just choose any class in that game even if importing my character?

>not a single reused map
I distinctly remember there being a small cave map that was used for side missions that I ran through like 5 different times.

IIRC you're stuck with whatever class you originally had when importing.
Trust me, go with Manguard. Soldier is just generic and the ME games combat when it comes to purely guns just isn't that interesting. It's much more unique when you go with a different class that has stuff like biotic powers.

And also don't pick infiltrator. It seems tempting to be le ebin ghost sniper sneaky guy, but it actually just brings down the pace of the game and makes it more tedious. Vanguard is great because you're just running around with a shotgun and biotic powers smashing niggers in the face

You can change classes when importing characters to next games.

Soldier, from ME2 onward play as Vanguard, it's not the best but by far the most fun one
femshep for better voice and Garrus bromance without it being gay

Pick Vanguard. It doesn't impact ME2 or 3, you can choose again even if you're importing.

>femshep for better voice and Garrus bromance without it being gay
That makes you both a fag and a tranny

>IIRC you're stuck with whatever class you originally had when importing.
No, you get to choose a new class after each import if you so choose to.

Fair enough, I could've sworn I wasn't able to alter class, but it's been a while.
Still, OP should go with Vanguard regardless.

Any class is good, but certain games some classes are clearly better (ie soldier is amazing in all three, vanguard is great in 3).

For picking classes, depends on what you want to do.

Pew pew rootin tootin gun shootin go with soldier and vanguard, sometimes infiltrator depending on weapon choice.

Sniper, go soldier or infiltrator.

Mage, go adept, engineer, or sentinel.

Combo of mage and shootin, go vanguard.

With the mages, all three are pretty different from each other.

Adept - Space/gravity mage
Engineer - More akin to the classic mage (ice, fire, lightning, summoning)
Sentinel - combo but still feels different, also tanky

Engineer's personally my favorite, at least in 2 and 3.

No it doesnt, biotics are trash in the first game
Go with the soldier

But if you go maleshep you can't get the best character in the game to go out with you.

Is Dragon Age worth getting into?

>colonist

>infiltrator
>save yourself for tali in 2 so she pretty much rapes you.

Just the first

The best advice is stop playing the game right now.

Origins is great. 2 was really rushed but you can see the potential it had. Inquisition is a 5/10 open world game with some 7/10 linear sequences sprinkled in.

DA:O has the most amount of effort, work and soul put into it and is generally said to be the best one in the series. Has so much DLCs and an expansion that you should either get the Ultimate Edition or don't play at all.
DA2 is one of the most rushed and half-assed games of all time and is usually only liked by the people who are fond of DA lore and world. Only moments that feel like they have any actual work put in are the two DLCs.
DA:I base game is ME:A in a fantasy setting. Kind of short main quest, garbage fetch quests and terrible animations in contrast to the beautiful graphics. However unlike ME:A it has two good DLCs and a post game true-ending-DLC.

Overall;
DA:O > DA:I > DA2

Unfortunately this
ME2 is alright to play, but the story is all go find these people and deal with their daddy issues. And walking around the Normandy is dull af with the sterile lighting and no ambient music
