At a certain point, being the certified reincarnation of the legendary hero probably has to count for something. I would imagine any Linkthat strolls into Hyrule Castle with the Master Sword on his back, in any era where the legend of the hero is well know, becomes an instant suitor for the current Zelda no matter what his upbringing is, because that kind of shit tramples any sort of class divide problems. Any noble that would object with something like "He's a peasant farmer" gets slapped down with "He's the hero and either has saved or will save the damn kingdom".

I don't think Links require any genetic connection. Zelda is always the Princess Zelda, but Links can just pop up from anywhere. Not that I'm saying OoT Link and Zelda shacked up, especially since OoT Link and Zelda were in an era before the legend of the hero had really taken off. In the timeline where Link and Zelda could've gotten hitched, Link was some bumfuck from the woods that just managed to expose Ganondorf's evil scheme rather than being a legendary hero with the Master Sword that slayed the demon king Ganon.
