The back story is dumped on the player via lengthy dialogue sequences and cutscenes.

The characters constantly monologue and explain their thoughts all the time because they assume the player is too stupid to work things out themselves.

The cutscenes are almost completely detached from the gameplay. For example there will be a boss battle that's really easy but once you beat them and view the following cutscene it will portray it as if the protagonist is struggling to beat them.

There's a female character that is secretly in love with the main character but she acts like she doesn't like him.

The female characters all have flat arses.
