I'm not a virgin

But I am playing Romancing SaGa 2, OP.

And I restart every time my characters lose LP in a battle lol

Name a single jrpg that is as intense and fun as DOOM.

Yeah thought so, not everybody wants to be a comfyfag

I'm currently playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on PC.

Because I'd rather play real RPGs if I'm going to play an RPG and not some grindy team management bullshit. I'll fap to hentai if I want sexy girls.

Ys Oath in Felghana

Mythra buttjob when?

That picture is fucking shit, it's just one solid lump, that's not how tits work or how swimsuits work.

>intense and as fun
Pretty sure Dark Souls fits the bill.

no but seriously

How dare you talk bad of Sian

I just fucking did

This.

tifa who

shut up you killed that cute catboy

Because I'm trying to decide if I want to play Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (I started the M&L series four years ago and haven't gone through them all yet), or if I should play Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon since I've been wanting to try out that series. Played through the prologues and first chapter of FR: SD A couple months ago, but I'm having trouble getting into it, despite thinking that the concept of the gameplay is okay.

whoa look @ those melons!

Attached: em3538bfqsa01.jpg (750x734, 63K)

Did Mythra and this guy ever interact in any meaningful way during XC2's main story?

Attached: XC2-Mikhail.png (900x1600, 825K)

What's an easily accessible JRPG for a newcomer to the genre to get into?

Sian is great, but the tits in that picture are just off.

Grandia or TiTS

Suikoden 2

Would probably say the SNES Final Fantasy
Maybe VII if you can stand the graphic

XC2 fans:This game had some clear problems, but it was pretty good overall, let's discuss lore, characters, and gameplay of every game in this series!
XC2 fans on Yea Forums:THIS GAME IS LIKE THE BEST SWITCH GAME EVER!!! This is unironically the savior of JRPGs of our time, and it pisses off SJWs to boot! I'm so glad this shitty series is finally good again like Xeno Gear Solid or whatever that game I never played but keep jerking off was called, let's spam images of the female characters and shit on anyone who likes the other games! MUH XENOS!!!

This fanbase has been taken over by secondaries that don't give half a shit about the games, and this has to stop, you let them in, all because you were scared of a single shitposter, it's impossible to criticize this game anymore, as the waifufags run wild.

But we can fight this, true Xeno fans. Whenever you see someone you know is a fake fan running their mouth while pretending they know shit, do not report them, do not hide them, just reply "MUH XENOS" this will be the signal that separates true fans from the imitators that have taken over.

Nope.

Seems kind of weird.

I am going for new game plus on Mythra's game.

chrono trigger is always the answer

How much does it cost to hack your switch?

Haha, your favorite blade sucks.

YS VIII

Playing Atelier Rorona now. The crafting system is starting to go crazy now that I get permanent Cost boosts.

Had sex.

>imagine all those other games you could've played instead of grinding for hours in jrpgs

Attached: 1546809802526.png (560x550, 632K)

Stop trying to derail this into a XC2 thread, cabal.

I havn't grinded in an RPG in a decade, I think people who use grinding as a downside to a game just suck

Playing Ys VIII right now, just started chapter four.
Thank you random user for recomending it in a thread like this, I'm having a blast.

Is that fucking semen on the pits? Fucking degenerate homofaggot

People usually recommend Final Fantasy, but as one user said, Chrono Trigger is always a good choice. Just avoid PS1 version, loading is... Ugh. Get SNES, DS or Steam version.

Also, Grandia 1 and 2 remasters are coming out soon. Those 2 are also great games with lovely cast, good story and soundtrack.

Same here. It feels like the only people who complain about grinding in JRPGs nowadays are people who haven't played one in years and just assume they're all super grindy.

He didn't really interact with her much back then, and she wouldn't have any reason to think that a random human from 500 years ago would still be alive, so it's not TOO weird, but it's odd that he never brings it up.
Bu honestly, I think a lot of the plot with Milton and Mikhail in Torna was just made up for the expansion, and the main game was likely written with the assumption that kid Mikhail only really interacted with Lora/Jin/Haze and had no reason to give a shit about whether Mythra remembered him or not.

I want everyone to know i will be jerking off to this image tonight

imagine rubbing your dick furiously while she's in that position positioning your hard erect cock close to her armpit but never touching while all she does is stare at it in disgust waiting for the inevitable thick semen landing on her armpit

Overabundance of choice killing my will to play anything.

I have beaten all of the ones I have. Any recommended ones for the switch besides XBC2, Torna, and tales of vesperia?

Why is there a smash ball covering that boy's chest?

Is collection of mana worth buying

They are all piss easy with juvenile cliche story lines. The genre is pretty dead for anyone over 20 I'd say. They're all just rehashes of the jrpgs I played as a kid.
The majority of this board is probably underage though so I can see why they're popular here.

ys viii and disaea, dragon quest is coming pretty soon and so is a new mana game

>redux

I don't like high fantasy

I want you to explain why.

I'm 30 and I wish I could stop playing JRPGs, I'd be done with my backlog by now.

randomly switches between english and japanese
""""hd sprites""""" look shitty
tons of audio effects missing

They are too long and I never finish them cause I get bored

Attached: 1534812547193.jpg (335x333, 28K)

I find it funny how can a thread like this attract so many "mature" gamers who don't like the genre or stopped playing it because "they are not virgins".

Why are you here then?

I see my personal rule to just play the original versions of old games continues to be the right choice.

play dragon quest 5 for nintendo ds

I am looking to get DQ XI and the mana collection. I thought YS viii was very buggy visually on the switch

just beat chrono trigger, took me 15 hours cause i suck and go off and drink too much coffee

Porn, hentai or not, is very easy to get, so I'm not going to spend money and commit a bunch of time to a mediocre game just because it has a waifu in it.

Played one earlier today

>posts on Yea Forums
>not a virgin
Holy fucking kek

Lockhart

As opposed to spending money to commit a bunch of time to a mediocre game without a waifu in it

Playing JRPG in English makes me feel lazy and playing in Japanese is a lot of work.

Attached: dekinai.jpg (2400x3392, 995K)

Dont buy mediocre games, regardless of waifus or not. If removing/replacing the waifu(s) in a game causes you to lose all interest, it's not a good game and you're prob just horny.

Because there hasn't been a good one since the SNES

Yeah I've been there. During the week when I'm working all day I sometimes go "Why do I play games in Japanese again?" but over the weekend or when I'm on vacation, I suddenly think the idea of playing most Japanese games in English is ridiculous. But I've been playing games in Japanese for six years, so it's a habit now.

Does xeno blade 2 work on yuzu yet

>lying on the internet

Attached: 1558836483505.png (307x361, 230K)

Any game that's not a JRPG is automatically mediocre so your logic doesn't exactly work there

I know you're just bullshitting but I feel bad for people who actually believe that.

It's not worth playing unless you only care about waifus, trust me. I regret wasting my time on it.

What jrpgs? Which ones do you like? I tried playing the new dragon quest and it was god awful. I was literally just checking off shit I've seen a million times before and I don't even think I got a third of the way through. Originality doesn't matter to everyone though I guess

Yeah this, holy shit. I got to chapter 4 and couldn't stomach anymore. A year later I decided to try again and just started over because it had been a year since I played, got to chapter 4 and gave up again.

Originality is nice, but if I have fun playing the game, that's all I really care about. I really liked DQ XI, I've been getting the itch to play it again. I didn't like Persona 5 though, and Xenoblade 2 was godawful. It's mostly 20th century FF, DQ, SMT, Chrono Trigger, Persona 1 and 2, Mario RPGs, Trails, and various other games. And I still need to play more than the first two Ys games, finally play the Mother series, Seiken Densetsu, Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, and maybe eventually SaGa. Sometimes I hate liking JRPGs.

I would've been serious if this was 20 years ago

What the fuck this dude is from the anime tiddies game? This is unironically good design. Imagine if this dude was the protag and all the shitty anime big titty and annoying children characters were removed. I'd probably try the game if it were like that.

i'm too busy with fallout 3 to play any

Brainlet
Go back to playing overwatch for the 900th time

>being surprised by a pretty boy design in a JRPG
How new are you?

Thats literally how natural big tits would look in a latex suit like that retard

I can't help that I don't like awful bottom of the barrel anime writing, characters, awfully designed systems and menus and that waifus aren't everything to me. And Overwatch is only good for Lucioball and porn.

>You dont like this mediocre game whos only redeeming feature is waifus
>You must play this other mediocre game whos only redeeming feature is waifus
Thats some top quality logic you got there, champ.

I think Xenoblade 2 fans are some of the most defensive fans I've ever seen.

delete this

The worst part is that they justify a lot of their points by shitting on XC1 which actually had a great story and is one of the best JRPGs of all time.

I love my wife Mythra!

Have sex

I started playing dragon quest xi but i couldn’t get into it. I didn’t even make it out of town. It just feels generic as fuck.

Yea Forums isn't a place to post your bucket list, user

This list doesnt make any sense. Is is by design or by ability? If its by ability its totally wrong

I'm playing this. It's pretty fun, not much of a JRPG though, more of a roguelite.

Attached: game.jpg (833x663, 177K)

being as fun as the most boring type of game is setting the bar pretty low.

Go back to playing your battle royale games, kiddo

pics or it didnt happen

I am, i'm play through Octopath Traveler. Enjoying it a lot. Always love turn based rpgs and the music is amazing. I'm only about 11 hours in but i'm gonna spend the whole weekend playing it. Well when i can stop playing Supercross 2 The Game.

I'm midway through installing the last remnant on switch. Looking forward to giving it another try (played it on pc years ago but was too much of a brainlet).

Playing through World of FF on the switch since it was in sale and having a good time except for the godawful cringe dialogue.
Plan on picking up the mana collection and like this user Last remnant on the switch. I own the PC version but never cleared it.

where'd ya find that

Is the Remastered the same version as the original PC version, which fixed the batshit insane anti-grinding affects going on in the original game?

Its an upgrade from unreal engine 3 to 4 and with it they improved the visuals. other than that it seems they added a sprint button. seems there were other things added as well but youll have to look into it yourself.

I've had my last JRPG fill from playing Black Souls. I don't think anything else can come close that isn't a AAA trash with 3 hour long tutorial and unskippable dialog

Thanks, that's all I wanted to know. I got curious because it's been shilled here, but I could just watch anime instead of being forced to low-key interact with it.

lmao you have shit taste user

It sure was cool that they got so many guest artists to design blades for the game. More ensemble games should do that

It's not as unrealistic as you think - a swimsuit wouldn't be skintight between breasts that big.

Wish they'd just make Disgaea 6 already desu. It's been quite some time since 5's initial release

Just finished Ni no Kuni 2 and bought Octopath and Lost Sphear. Playing Octopath now. It's pretty cool. Battle system is fun

Tales of Vesperia.
Patty Is best girl AND I want Yuri marry her.

Honestly, I think that 80% of the time, when it comes to JRPGs, these little love projects are way better than what a big studio churns out.

I mean mechanics are 90% the same, and graphics don't improve that much, they always stay anime.

Yeah, same. I remember them saying it was happening so just gotta wait, but we'll see.

Happy to get to go back to 4 though, it's a fantastic game.

Attached: rsz_792254_10.jpg (960x540, 323K)

playing xenogears lads. good game but the platforming makes me want to kill myself. have a nice day.

I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I'm currently 80 hours in but I've realised most of the optional content in the game (such as side quests or exploration) offer absolutely nothing of value so I'm now just focusing on completing the story.

look at this loser! get out of here none virgin!

>woah this design looks cool
>wish it wasn't in this shitty anime game
Design is literally just more anime bullshit

hyperdimension neptunia

>team management bullshit
You do know that team management is a staple gameplay mechanic of pretty much the whole party RPG genre, right?

That's exactly how it works user. My teenage sister's friend has huge titties and I've seen her in one of those types of swimsuits and it looks like a massive mount of glob in front just bouncing around.

Keeps crashing on PC, it's very upsetting.
Actually my whole PC is kinda fucked and I'll probably spend the afternoon doing a reset.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 66K)

damn i wish my pc ensured i had good taste in games

OP BTFO

Burnt out so I'm playing some MH for the time being.

play a real game instead of garbage

Attached: logo_full-min.png (924x576, 126K)

I'm currently playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC Evolution on the Vita.

Played it, beat it in about 4 hours. It's pretty much garbage.

Basically no corruption, wastes an absolute fuck tonne of your time on it's intro sequence and you play through it in the most tedious manner ever.

These shitty low effort digital CalArts/Flash animation tier remasters need to fucking stop.

They're all boring weebshit, I've tried DQ8, P5, FF7 and FF8, Xenoblade 1 and 2, and secret of mana and they were all so fucking boring,

shill me on XC2

i recently became a NEET and i need something to fill the void

Attached: 1558934647706.jpg (286x327, 75K)

After learning Japanese I never even considered playing Japanese games in English. What's wrong with you?

Mechs
Apocalypse
Gods
Alt universe
Waifus

If you like Ys try Ys Oath in Felghana
really fun, fast paced and challenging game

Kaishaku is something you ask people to do for you, not really something you suggest be done to other people. You want to kiriotosu his kubi for spamming threads daily.

SOURCE

London?

>CalArts/Flash animation tier
You have no idea what any of this means do you.

It has a great battle system and interface.

Attached: xenogui.jpg (1280x720, 155K)

You're either an idiot who doesn't care about animation, or you're the kind of talentless hack to actually learned that awful style and wants to defend it.

is the battle system just walk up to a enemy and auto attakc and randomly cast spells?

because that sounds cosy

Look, just admit you've never even seen the original.

Those wowui and FPS hud joke screenshots weren't meant to be used as source material. Holy fuck.

Guys any good jrpg for PS4? Just finished DQ11 and I'm not really into FF15 because I heard it was kinda gay. Need good ps4 jrpg I guess.

cringe
based

Have you played the first Witcher, where you had to click every second or so, when the cursor on the enemy got orange?
It's kinda the same, but jrpg.

Have sex with me

Dude, it looks the same as the original without that gen 5 crust.

Okay then, so it's the former and you're partially blind.

Not even close.

VIRGIN ALERT

Attached: 1391146350442.gif (398x398, 503K)

Not him but show us exactly what "calarts" about that.

>character's name is mythra
>but her Internet name is hikari sometimes
pain in the ass

Her real name is Hikari, dubfag.

Where's my xenoblade collection? I'm not buying wiiu, wii or new 3da just to play that shit.

It actually does in both animation and style. The only difference is that it's cleaner.

Why isn't her English name Hikari?
Why do English based, American hosted websites use the Jap name?

>Let's just smooth everything out and use flat colors for all the character models, and fuck up all their animations
It looks like cheap flash animation, the same way the FFV and VI remasters did. I said that I didn't like CalArts or cheap Flash animation looking remasters, seeing as a bunch of old games from other genres are getting announced. Don't pretend I only said CalArts, and only brought up Grandia.

>The only difference is that it's cleaner.
I didn't think anyone actually looked at awful art like that and was fooled by it, but here we are.

>Why isn't her English name Hikari?
Because retards like you flip out about japanese words.
>Why do English based, American hosted websites use the Jap name?
Because its her real name.

mythra doesn't even look like she has breasts it looks like shes flat and shoved a single balloon up her fucking chest

Bad gameplay and acting.

Attached: Xenomazinger.webm (1040x292, 2.23M)

>the same way the FFV and VI remasters did
You what? Do yourself a favor and actually compare them.

>Do yourself a favor and actually compare them.
Right back at you. Preferable, with your eyes open.

>I didn't think anyone actually looked at awful art like that and was fooled by it,
I know right? Somehow you've tricked yourself into thinking it looks like the FF 5 and 6 remakes.

They have no similarities whatsoever.

>I know right?
The "clever" reversal only works if the insult is even remotely comparable to the one you're trying to throw back. How is saying that you were fooled by shitty low effort art in a remake pretending to be the same thing but "cleaner" the same as saying Grandia looks like FFV and VI? Your brain works about as good as your eyes.

>no similarities whatsoever.
None at all, huh?

Attached: 1.jpg (1628x353, 115K)

Re-rerelease actually. First rerelease was on the Vita along with 3. After playing 5 on console, I can say Disgaea is perfect on handheld.

You haven't made any sense and you've been a cunt while not doing so.

sudoku your eyes

Buy glasses.

Yeah, I have both the PS3 and Vita versions. 5 I have on PS4 and Switch too. I just really like these games and IMO 4 and 5 are the best in the series. By the sound of it this 4 Complete+ is basically 4 with the gameplay tweaks that made 5 even better though so 4C+ may be the best game in the series easily after this. 4 Vita already has the most content and damn good gameplay.

I've got work in 2 hours.

Not a single one and you can tell because of the detail on the left while the right lacks it.

But I'm playing DDS1 right now.

Pretty good shit, though mantras are pretty boring compared to fusion.

Just admit that you're shitting on it because its not on ps4 because it's a hell of a lot easier to explain than saying those look the same.
It doesn't even use solid blocks of color like FF.

Have sex

Are people really defending tbe Grandia "remaster" now? It looks like the ps1 version with a shitty filter, it's lazy as fuck.

NONE AT ALL. can you even read this post? Check your eyes.

>Not a single one
You're blind, I get it.

>because its not on ps4
>console shitposting when it has nothing to do with anything at all
I knew you were retarded, but holy shit.

Yes. Apparently smoothed out and sterilized sprites look good now.

>btfo yourself
>pretend to be someone else
How pathetic

I am though. I'm playing I Am Setsuna.

False flagging now that your shitty FF comparison didn't work huh?

Clean your eyes user.

Tressa for money grinding.

You're blind and retarded. Stop talking about art.

I don't think you know what a filter is given neither has one.

the redux is fine you ass goblin. sure the art isn't as good, but everything else is superior.

>nigger doesn't know how Yea Forums posting work
Stupid fucking ESL monkey.
Look at the post times, you subhuman.

Yeah because i

Alfyn is very good at all stages, as is Cyrus. Therion is good to have early, as his character action lets you get a bunch of gear really fast.

I'm actually impressed at how ignorant you managed to make this post. Well done.

>I didn't like Persona 5
Yeah I'm thinking he's
>Xenoblade 2 was godawful
BASED.

>OH NONONONONO I'M BTFO
STUPID NIGGER MONKEY KILL YOUR DUMBASS SELF

Tessa or Cyrus. They're both great for beginners and conveniently, they have their start area next to each other.

Always wanted to play disgaea, already has 1 and 5 on my switch. Should i wait for 4 or just start with 5 right away? Or maybe play the first one first? Does the first one feel outdated gameplay-wise compared to the recent ones?

Why are ESLfags allowed to post at all?

>Want to play the new Atelier game
>Want to play DQ11
>Want to get the Mana collection
I am not playing a JRPG right now because I cant choose which one to go for. I've never played any of the games here, or any entries in their series for that matter. DQ11 frightens me slightly since its a massive game and lately I've played 100 hour JRPGs so maybe it would be good for me to play something lighter before tackling it.
Bloodstained and Mario Maker are coming out soon too, with Three Houses being soon here as well. Fuck, give me more time.

Cause gameplay sucks, stories are copy pasted, waifus are reapeats of a repeats, gameworlds are copy pasted.

When will JRPG's be original again?

Why is NIGGER allowed to post at all?

Neither of them have filters you idiot especially not the FF one because they just use new sprites.

>waaaaaaa MODS please ban them, ESL are making a fool out of me. PLEASE MOOMMYYYY
Dumb nigger don't have an argument huh?

that's actually so fucking kino. picked up.

Are you a spic or a SEAmonkey?

Come on, nigger do you even have a working brain?

You missed the mark again.

XB2 has tons of oldschool anime references scattered about in every chapter, with chapter 4 is the most obvious since the entire chapter from beginning to end plays out like a 70s Super Robot story arc.

Are there any relatively obscure 3DS RPGs that are worth playing? I don't know what will I do after SMTIV, EO4, DeSu2 and DQ8.

Only kids play video games.
I just jerk off to all the Mythra and Pyra doujins and pornhub videos like an adult.

Ys, Mana and Nier if you're in the mood for more actiony stuff.

Skies of Arcadia
Grandia
Shadow Hearts

VC and collection of mana, although Tales of isnt bad either

I see. Is the Mercenaries Saga any fun?

The Legend of Heroes, all of them.

Anyone played Arc Rise Fantasia? Thoughts?

Nothing is great about it. You satisfied?

The heroine was so retarded that I stopped playing it, but the gameplay isn't too bad.

Because I am about to masturbate to a jrpg character

How are the older games in the Heroes series? I know the blew up in Japan starting with Trails. Were the older ones mediocre or just overlooked?

The translation was just like my post.

What?

Exactly.

I hope you're doing a magic build because you can become a godly mage in both games by putting 2 points into magic and one into vitality at every level up

Because my weekend is ruined

I don't even know how many months he will be here

What? But some user told me str is godly and put full str every lvl up.

Trails in the sky is good, some cringe moments but not bad (the third game is the best one). Crossbell arc is incredible, the best one by far.

Is that Brother or BrOTHER? If it's later, kick him out.

I'm impressed by how much stupidity you managed to fit into such a short post.

Haven't had to grind in an jRPG, ever. Even Final Fantasy on the NES is doable without any repetition. Get good at itemization.

>he fell for the str meme

I'm playing FFXIV right now. Currently trying to get through the Stormblood main quest to be ready for Shadowbringers. Gonna switch to Gunbreaker day 1.

STR is more godly in Nocturne. Magic in DDS is a more optimal build. At the end of each magic branch, you unlock a passive skill which resists that specific element. That's why when I play DDS, I put a shit ton of points into magic and make him learn agi spells until he learns agidyne and resist fire which completely overrides his weakness to agi

>Why aren't you playing a JRPG right now?

Thunderstorm

What about Hitoshura fight?

They are boring, the characters are cringy, the stories suck and there is not one ounce of believability. Only game that comes close to an jrpg and is slightly fun is dark souls.

The game is literally built around death, stop being autistic and accept your losses, dying is also a good thing as long as you can make it so.
People reported long loading times and very low performance in general, make of that what you will.

JRPGs get a bad rap for being grindy, but honestly I've only ever had to grind in really shitty ones, and that's for low percentage item drops. If you do sidequests and explore, you should never purposefully have to grind, and if a game forces you to grind items even after you do all the optional content and quests, it's probably a shitty game. Mind you, when I say grind I don't mean fight a couple enemies in an area for 15 minutes because you want something they drop, I'm talking about shit where you need to look up which enemies in a specific area have 20% chance of spawning and then a 5% chance of dropping the item you want and you need 20 of that item to synthesize good weapons.

If playing in Japanese is "work" then you're not gonna make it.

It's a curse.

I've never attempted nor do I want to attempt that fight so I'm not really the best person to ask about it. Though I do know that null sleep is really useful during that fight. For some reason, it doesn't actually stop you from sleeping and just lets you 100% dodge attacks while you're sleeping. Also whatever you do, do NOT enter the fight with the null physical or null element passive skill or else Demifiend will instantly kill you with Gaea Rage.
Apparently there IS a way to cheese the fight though. You can actually drain Pixie of her MP, making her useless. Here's a video I saw about it (it happens much later in the video)

>make a sexy pose but be angry and embarrassed
Anime tropes are cringe as fuck and all weebs need to be gassed

Start with 1 or 5 now. 1 is a little more basic, 5 has more mechanics to it and more systems in place, but they're both still perfectly playable, especially since the minor balance changes they made to 1 for the modern version take out the more archaic stuff (healers not getting experience for healing etc.). Either is fine to start with, so just pick your preference based on which one you like the characters more in.

I'm playing cadence of Hyrule, does that count?

Either way, you'll see.
Death isn't a bad thing in RS2 unless you're in the last generation, in fact death can even be a strategical choice at times given how you normally don't really have enough shifts to get all the advanced classes as leaders.

>party mechanic in RPGs
I want to play a role in RPGs, not manage a team. That's what RPGs are for and that's why I will always dislike the gameplay of JRPGs. I don't consider JRPGs true RPGs.

Persona 3 FES is a real grind at the moment but I want to see what happens in the story so I'm taking a break.

Yes, but that's not what I'm talking about.
As I said, you'll see once you get out of Varenne and start getting into troubles like a big boi should.

Persona after 2 are just movies, go watch the cutscenes on YouTube lmao

Just started octopath, does the characters actually interact with each others later on or they're just individual stories that got nothing to do with each other?

Persona games (3-5) are VNs mixed with dungeon crawlers. For all the shit people give them about being shitty anime games, 5 avoided falling into that trap just barely, though 5 Royal is going to shit all over it for fujo pandering. 3 has dated gameplay mechanics that 5 improved in every conceivable way, but the story and atmosphere of 3 were better, especially towards the end. The final act of P3 is the high point of the series, and it's all about death and sacrifice. P5 is more of a stylish thriller. Avoid 4 unless you're a faggot.

playing divinity original sin 2

My knowledge with SaGa series is limited. I'm playing without guides, but I obviously looked at some advices on YouTube. I know you can restart at any point (and keep all your items, apparently), but I don't want to.

Speaking of autism, aka my playthrough... Is this a good progress so far?
307 battles, HP ranges from 269 to 351 (depends on the ally), weapon proficiency is 10-14 (one weapon per char, obviously) and all chars have defense at 28.

Also, should I invest in magic? I'm not a big fan of magic and that slime enemy in Fiends' Cloister, which is apparently immune to phys, died by ny sword and spear.

Bad acting? Persona games consistently hire the best talent in the industry. From Troy Baker and Laura Bailey, to that Makoto (P5) actress who is now female V in Cyberpunk.

Not to mention XC1 which is a terrific localization.

I can't think of better acting in any western game except the biggest of titles from Sony or CDPR. It's all mostly gruff rubbish with no nuance or direction, and it definitely doesn't help that the writing is amateur level.

XC2 is kino all the way through. Okay, maybe except some side quests.

>Is this a good progress so far?
That doesn't say much if you don't tell me what you've done while you got those stats.
>all chars have defense at 28.
That's merely the slash type defense you have, it doesn't really matter all that much either, your armor type is more important, you'll learn either way, it's a very simply system, mind your elemental resistances too.
>Also,should I invest in magic?
Weird question to make, I take you've done very little if you even have to ask.
Now that you mention the Gelatinous matter though, how the fuck did you fight all that much by then? Don't tell me you've been grinding, I really hope that was just an example of something you've done some time ago.
Anyway, Magic is absolutely vital, you plain up can't beat the game without it so deal with it and start using spellcasters.

>Persona games consistently hire the best talent in the industry.

>Persona games consistently hire the best talent in the industry
Anyone remember that time they had to delay the entire game because the localization was utter fucking garbage? Just me?

I unironically enjoyed 13-2.
I played 13 just because; and it was meh.
3-3 I got bored of 10 hours in.
But 13-2, I just couldn't keep myself from playing.
Time travel JRPGs are a rare breed.

Also Sara is pure waifu tier. Lightning is wouldn't-fuck-with-another-man's-dick tier.

>Don't tell me you've been grinding
But user, I already told you I have 307 battles, which can be viewed at castle. Around 30, maybe 40 escapes, which also contributed to this numbet, which means I won cca 260 battles. Not sure if I would call that grinding. So far I'm in gen 2, like I said, and the only major thing I did was help merchants (with that cave full of gems).
I had good skills for gelatinous enemies. Smash works.

Haven't noticed any bugs in Ys VIII personally.

People don't care about SaGa in the west, moreover, the PC version of TLR was already ported to Android/iOS in Japan so this port was completely worthless for anyone, especially Nintendo users.
None of the other games sold well on Switch either, I'm surprised they even bother given how even Scarlet Grace sold less than one tenth of what it sold on Vita.

What was even the point of doing so?

Typical SaGa fag respond because why bother bringing up actual evidence that do not exist when you can just call someone else names and save face? :^)

You go to a dungeon, there are 30 enemies. They also respawn when you go from one screen (not just area) to another. What am I supposed to do? Avoid them?

>Implying reason works with you

Attached: 1541819357111.png (382x395, 62K)

It really isn't. Just Minotaur fight if you don't have SPOILER ALERT ice spells.

There are difficulty levels on that one so you can play on baby mode

Since the thread is full of SaGafags, where's the best place to start? I know moon, so that's not a problem but the first game in the series was on gameboy so it's probably really rough around the edges. Are they all connected storywise? If they are, I'll start right at the beginning.

Why would you tell them to avoid the best one?

Haven't had the time. There's a bunch That I do want to play though.

Attached: 1559367894656.jpg (2000x1500, 344K)

You should already know not to grind in jrpgs in general. Grinding is for shitters and people who think all jrpgs still play like the NES days.

It's only for the first few hours, it gets baby mode afterwards. Just make sure to have demons with multiple spells or just make the main character a magic user with multiple spells.

On top of that there are narrow corridors, not every area is an open square.

You'll have more luck checking out /vr/ the one SaGafag here is cancerous.

>P4fag
Absolutely fucking disgusting.

It's not too bad honestly. All you should know with SMT is that statuses really work. It's not like final fantasy where bosses are immune, you need to abuse that shit. Stun can lock down enemies completely for multiple turns, exploiting elemental weaknesses will give you free turns, it's great. The core gameplay loop is in learning these weaknesses and exploiting them, which requires building varied teams of demons to have the required skills available. Enemies can (and will) exploit your weaknesses too so you need to take your party into consideration. Honestly it's not too bad, people just get fucked up for trying to play it like final fantasy.

Releasing TLR on Switch was a nice sentiment, but its truly a case of diminishing returns. Plus it doesn't help that the remaster fucked with the changes made to the PC version. You're essentially playing the 360 version now, which was fucked in a lot of places.

based

I played Persona 3, 4 and 5 so I guess is similar then. Thank you.

3 was tough in some parts.

In what way? Does it have the 360 BR scaling?

I cant help but speak the truth.

It's comparable to P3. You'll be fine.

or maybe TLR is just too weird to be considered generally good. I get that some people love that weirdness but I do think most JRPG fans tend to recoil in horror at anything too different.

You *can* avoid grinding in SaGa Frontier IF you are already familiar with the game.

>where's the best place to start?
Either production order or the DS remakes/Romancing SaGa 3/Frontier 1.
As long as you don't start with the PS2 games or RS2 you'll be fine really.
>On top of that there are narrow corridors
Tough shit with that, luckily most of the game isn't like that and you can juke 90% of the stuff, especially if you pay attention to their behaviour.
It's not like you can get away with just fighting bosses in these games either, so pretending having 300+ battles by the second generation is unavoidable is either being terribly dishonest for the sake of shitposting or being terribly bad at the game.
And for the records, people who post in here about the games are the same who post in the /vr/ threads.

>no dating sim elements
>no waifu to marry at the end
2/10 will watch a let's play
>people unironically think like this

I think the remaster's BR scaling is even more fucked than the original's, according to some other anons.

>And for the records, people who post in here about the games are the same who post in the /vr/ threads
So you're still willing to deny that in my last thread on /vr/ where I was OP I was told to grind in SaGa Frontier in my Emelia run, right?

FPBP.
Weebcels utterly BTFO'd.

You're like the DaS2fags of the Persona fanbase.

>but I do think most JRPG fans tend to recoil in horror at anything too different.

Honestly I don't get this claim. Sure jrpgs have their own conventions, but there have been plenty of experimental jrpgs over the decades that get quite a bit of praise. Even FF always changed shit up with every entry. Not everything is a DQ clone. Mind you, I'm not putting down DQ.

Agreed. Waifufags poison everything they touch. TLR is a good game just for their absence.

>Either production order or the DS remakes/Romancing SaGa 3/Frontier 1.
I'm not a fan of the DS at all, and I don't even have a Japanese one. Any good place to start on any Playstation Console, the Switch or PC?

I mean go into a FF thread and you will see that the further we come from oldschool ATB or turn based, the harder the average user will shit on it. I dunno if it's real it's just a feeling I get.

Frontier is very easy and there's not really a lot of reasons to grind even in your first run, just fighting things on the way as you play is more than enough to beat the game with no statistical problems.
Not to mention that Mechs don't really gain anything from fighting either, unless you're fighting other mechs for the sake of programs, which is also done very quickly and is unnecessary in any scenario that isn't T260G's.
The games do have a steep learning curve and your first run is always gonna be rough no matter what, but people vastly exaggerate how the games work.
Not sure if you're actually that guy or are impersonating him, but people simply told you that if you wanted to avoid as many battles as possible and do that kind of sequence breaking you wanted to do you needed to be very familiar with the game, they told you to grind because you were stuck in Tanzer and given how you had problems in an incredibly easy fight you might as well fight some battles in there and win.
Now if you want to pull some more shit I'd rather stop because the thread is still fresh and making a few snaps to show how stupid you're being is easy enough, granted that you are that guy and you aren't impersonating him.

>the harder the average user will shit on it
Except most people are saying the FFVII remaster battle system looks like it has a lot of promise.

>TLR
>no waifus

You're wrong there!

Attached: Emma_Honeywell_Artwork.jpg (480x480, 39K)

Just spent the last few minutes checking, and I haven't found anything to back that up via google. I'm wary about trusting chinese whispers, especially on Yea Forums.

Start with Frontier then.
>PC?
You can emulate any and all games and buy those the others with a JP steam profile.

I should have stayed quiet

And then there's 13 and 15 which cause endless butthurt and always will, mostly because they aren't exactly FF7 ATB

Necrophilia doesn't count.

>with a JP steam profile.

Why bother unless you're really impatient to play SG?

Well, he said he knows Runes so why bother waiting?
We don't even know whether the western version will have multiple language support, so it's another reason to bother since the localizations inevitably butcher the games since forever.

Rude.

The PS1 game? Alright, I'll start from the PS1 series and just work through them.

That's because they were shit, not because they strayed from ATB. Look how much the battle system in X-2 gets jerked off. Have you ever actually been in an FF thread?

Yeah and X-2 is bog standard ATB, kind of proves my point there

>that is as intense and fun
TWEWY in Ulitmate

I'm playing DQ1
There's this purple knight being a asshole who puts me to sleep and spams 30 dmg at me
I already went to the town with the golem and went back and rescued the princess
Am I supposed to just grind and kill this ass?

>so why bother waiting?
It's not even a matter of not waiting, I've never played an rpg in English since learning moon. I won't play Japanese games in English unless they're "meant" to be played in English like Bloodborne or Resident Evil. Why would I? The localizations are just inferior versions. Even a good localizations is worse than the original.

>X-2 is bog standard ATB
It's really not, and on top of that X's battle system also gets praised. Really, have you actually been in an FF thread or played all the FF games?

X-2 is basically a better version of XIII's combat system. It's ATB but with positioning. You can't directly control it, but thankfully you'll rarely have tanks stood next to healers and vice versa. Everyone spreads out while still allowing flanking and quick attacks. The story is more like Totally Spies than FFX though, which I guess is the reason most people overlook it.

You can avoid enemies in RS2, you just need to learn their movement pattern. Right?

>I mean go into a FF thread and you will see that the further we come from oldschool ATB or turn based, the harder the average user will shit on it
Well yeah, that's because a game that was turn based is being turned into an entirely different genre for no reason other than to get the maximum profit possible at the minimum cost.
Not to mention these people were being teased for years by square and now they'll never get their remake.

You're going to need to explain how X-2 isn't ATB mate. X-1 is a very normal dynamic turn based system as seen in a million Falcom games and others since.

Indeed. JRPG fans are very narrow in what they will consider a "real JRPG."

From where did all these TLR people come from? For the last 3 years, i can swear it was just me shitposting with the game, with few rare cases of anybody joining.

Attached: last remnant.jpg (990x3130, 1.81M)

dakooters?

switch remaster has been announced during E3

The Remastered edition just got released???

These are you words. Verbatim.
>endless butthurt and always will, mostly because they aren't exactly FF7 ATB
X-2 isn't exactly 7's ATB system. X isn't even close. You brought up XIII and XV as examples of how people get mad over not having the same ATB system as VII, but those are just hated for being bad games. Look at how many people wanted XV to have KH2FM's battle system. How do you explain that if people just want VII's ATB system?

what the fuck are you talking about, x-2 has no positioning, it's plain atb with an extra system where you get extra damage for timing attacks to hit at the same time

TLR has always had its supporters on Yea Forums and that image was always a misleading meme that feeds into hyperbole and keeps people from wanting to experience the game.

Dilate

A lot of games gets released on Switch. Plus people posting here know the story.

So just make a JP steam profile or import the game on Switch.
Yeah, All enemy types have unique patters so you can learn how to juke them.
Humanoids just tend to home in while Birds charge at you at high speed, ghosts teleport around while Zombies move very slowly, plants move very slowly and only when you get near them and so on, all of them are easily avoidable with some practice.
RS1 introduced the whole mechanic, so it's understandable they didn't get it right immediately.
Even in MS, the Ligau Tunnels have a fraction of the original dino spawns, there's like, three per tunnel iirc? and only in certain sections.

>JRPG fans are very narrow in what they will consider a "real JRPG."
Nope. Those are retards. An rpg made in Japan is a jrpg. That's all there is to it.

Oh c'mon. There's a single job change gimmick separating the two. Why are you being dishonest with me?

No they aren't given they actually know subgenres exist like turn based, strategy and action.
Ironic weebs on the other hand just call everything a jrpg if it comes from Japan so they see no difference between FF7 and FF7r.

>or import the game on Switch.
But you told me to start with the PS1 game. And I don't need to make a jp steam or import games. I have a jp steam and live in Japan, I just didn't know which game to start with.

The recent PS4/Switch remaster plus the whole affaire of removing the PC version from Steam reignited the game a bit.
The E3 announcement of the SaGa games also helped a bit I guess.

I am. I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics.

>talking about a specific franchise
>tries to divert attention to jrpgs as a whole

Attached: 14817624838258.jpg (376x419, 52K)

>Why are you being dishonest with me?
When did this stupidity come in here from reddit? Every single person who complains about dishonest arguing is a retarded faggot. You said people cry every time a game doesn't have the exact same ATB system as FFVII. I listed a bunch of games that don't. You choose to ignore the action games and then just focus on X-2, and then ignore what you literally said in your post while trying to bend that previous statement into "Well it's close enough." Why are you so stupid? Stop backpedaling.

How should I approach sidequests in TLR? I know excessive battles/grinding can fuck me over, but does that mean doing every sidequest will also cause problems? I hear there are tons. I want to play without constantly referring to the wiki (I specifically got it on switch so I can play anywhere), but everyone seems to meme about it being almost essential.

>But you told me to start with the PS1 game.
What does that have to do with Scarlet Grace?
You were talking about that, I gave you an anwer, you can start with Scarlet too either way, it's not gonna give you a good idea of what the core elements of the series are and you'll miss a lot of subtext and references but if you want to, go ahead.
I've already told you how to proceed, Frontier and RS3 are the best games for you since you don't want to play the DS remake for some reason.
>I have a jp steam and live in Japan
Good for you, make sure you get some sleep then.

I'm willing to bet he's one of those "you're just entitled!" idiots.

You brought up X-2 not me, and then you made erroneous claims about it. You would have me ignore that? You are being very dishonest and I await your explanation on how X-2 is not a completely normal and standard ATB system.

>DaS2
I hope you're not implying that P4 is the overall worst game in the same series as both P2 games.

Sidequests get you new leaders, new abilities for Rush, new materials, new weapons, new formations... Certainly don't avoid them. In most sidequests you just had to come to some location and then kill enemy there. Just rush through enemies and don't fight them, shift if you have to avoid.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, don't visit the Fucking Emperor until you are sure you finished all the quests.

Positioning absolutely exists. The attack speed of many enemies is based on how far they physically are from you (for example tonberries walk slowly towards the party). Attacks can hit multiple party members if they're too close together. I'm not sure you actually played it.

Always be on the lookout for new quests after each time the main plot moves forward. Also make sure you explore each new area thoroughly (but obviously don't linger too long to grind) as you can open up paths to some cities early on.

>What does that have to do with Scarlet Grace?
Oh, you meant with regards to the other comment which was about the new one coming out. I had trouble following which game was which because I don't know anything about the series and am looking the titles up now as they're mentioned.

>Good for you, make sure you get some sleep then.
Soon.

>and then you made erroneous claims about it.
You said people get mad anytime something doesn't have the exact system VII had. It does not. That was your exact statement, and I'm not going to let you handwave it so you can pretend to have a point. You are objectively wrong, and trying to backpedal around your original claim won't change that. Stop being a retarded faggot.

I'm really happy that so many people are getting into JRPGs

I got into jrpgs with persona 4 golden. I feel like dq8 would work though.

Alright, that logic makes 13 completely normal ATB too, doesn't it? You are ripping and tearing at the definition in a dishonest attempt to backpedal out of your retarded assessment of X-2 as a not ATB game.

Guh-huhing

Gonna use Trials of Mana to split up my replaying Kazooie and Tooie though when I finish Kazooie today.

>How should I approach sidequests in TLR?
You select and complete them.
>I know excessive battles/grinding can fuck me over
It won't as long as you keep chaining like a gud boi and don't waste time on shit like ants or doggos, remember to keep your equipment as up to date as possible and you'll be fine.
>does that mean doing every sidequest will also cause problems?
Nope, in fact a lot of those sidequests do not involve fighting at all.
>but everyone seems to meme about it being almost essential.
There's a lot of misconception about the game(And the series in general), mostly because Yea Forums doesn't really play a lot of games and TLR shellshocked most people here.
Generally speaking, it's good to do sidequests for a lot of reasons:
>They give you money/Items/Formations/new techs for Rush
>They give you magazines, which unlock enemy drops, which tie in your equipment forging and other quests
>They give you a chance of meeting extra characters which you can recruit
>They give you lots of lore about the world and the story
>Character quests and maxing out the affinity gives substantial bonuses to your party members
So yeah, do as many of those as you can, talk to people, listen to bartenders for hints on where to find new jobs, make sure to always visit towns inbetween the main story segments and talk to the people you've also already recruited, each four times you enter a city you'll trigger a new chapter of one of your recruited unique's stories so do that until the game tells you you've finished their stories.

You are trying to nail me down using the literal definition of the words I use like a complete autist, instead of actually trying to have a reasonable discussion where both parties try to understand each other.

Not that user, but technically there's really not too much wrong with XIII's core combat system. its just everything else in the game brings it down.

I didn't say X-2's not an ATB game. I'm saying it's not a direct copy/paste of the FFVI-IX battle system. I'm done with this, let's stop shitting up the thread.

>using the literal definition of the words I use
Kill yourself, you fucking retard. You don't redefine words on the fly after realizing you said something that was completely wrong. That's not how this works.

>played XBC2 so much that I just dreamt of being Pyra

Huh

Why would you assume me to think that, instead of engaging with my point in a reasonable way? All I said is that the further you get from FF7 standard ATB, the more butthurt your average fan gets.

>You are trying to nail me down using the literal definition of the words I use
Then why not speaking fucking literally you moron? Are you that afraid of being wrong that you have to make an out before people even contest your points?

i've played all the good ones
which is like, two at max

You're a great example of that.

You are not interested in discussion, only imaginary internet points.

>All I said is that the further you get from FF7 standard ATB, the more butthurt your average fan gets.
Go into an FFXV thread and find the posts complaining it's not like FFVII, then find the posts complaining it's not like KH.

What's a good turn based jrpg I can play on the PC?

Attached: 1515784530091.png (372x340, 132K)

A better version of TLR.

That's LITERALLY what I said, but you're so dishonest you're unwilling to engage with that.

>You are not interested in discussion
You fucking idiot. You can't have a discussion if you redefine words on a whim. You can't come to an understanding if one party pulls things out of his ass every time someone explains how the ideas they put forth are wrong. Do you actually have Aspergers?

13 is my favourite post-SNES game

>I said is that the further you get from FF7 standard ATB
And yet everyone enjoyed the non ATB FF7 games.

You show up and nail a huge strawman on me, and then you throw a little hissyfit when I call you dishonest. Yikes.

>everything else in the game brings it down
Such as?

Origin is pretty sick too
Great boss fights and music

Thanks for the help. Is there a straightforward way to know which recruits are worth keeping permanently? I'm guessing I should be working towards finding a full team to stick with ASAP instead of rotating people out constantly as I unlock more stuff. I've heard BR mainly screws over new hires.

>That's LITERALLY what I said
Do you not know what literally means?

>And yet everyone enjoyed the non ATB FF7 games.

Ehhh debatable. Crisis Core was a decent button-masher, but Dirge of Cerberus had some really funky issues.

>I mean go into a FF thread and you will see that the further we come from oldschool ATB or turn based, the harder the average user will shit on it. I dunno if it's real it's just a feeling I get.
L I T E R A L L Y

>and nail a huge strawman on me
That's not even what strawman means you idiot.

Someone make a new thread before this shitposting hits bump limit

POST
TRESSA

>logical fallacies
>dishonest argument
These have never been complained about by someone that wasn't completely retarded who didn't know what those words actually meant.

this but ironically

The plot. The characters. The game railroading you for 30 hours so you can't actually experience the full breadth of the combat until you've gotten sick of everything else.

When people refuse to read and understand what I post, and instead substitute their own easily defeated argument, that's the literal definition of a strawman

It’s trying to save you from playing 13.
None of the 13s are good.

>Go into an FFXV thread and find the posts complaining it's not like FFVII, then find the posts complaining it's not like KH.

to be fair, FF7 and KH are good with good gameplay.

XV is mediocre, unfinished, and has bad gameplay for an action RPG

Nice arguments, you're not seething at all, no sir.

>and instead substitute their own easily defeated argument
"You're objectively wrong per the real definition of the words you're using" does not fit those criteria.

Great, you don't know. Because we all answered to that directly and then you went off on some bullshit.

>When people refuse to read and understand what I post,
Yeah except we all read your posts, understood it and said you were wrong for a multitude of reasons.
Stop using words you don't know as a means of weasling out of an argument.

>to be fair, FF7 and KH are good with good gameplay.
>XV is mediocre, unfinished, and has bad gameplay for an action RPG
Yes, that's what I said multiple times. That was my whole point. The other guy is just a retard who doesn't understand what words mean.

>Is there a straightforward way to know which recruits are worth keeping permanently?
I guess by that you mean generics.
Generics are mostly a crutch you get before you can fill out your party with uniques.
That doesn't mean generics are useless, in fact quite a few of them are good units, but uniques have more advantages in the long run, such as better stats, better toolkits, better innate advantages and their own unique bonuses when you max their relationship with Rush, a lot of uniques also get to keep specific Remnants.
>I've heard BR mainly screws over new hires.
That's a rather complex subject, but to be concise, no, it doesn't.
The only people who do get "screwed" by high BR by the time of their recruitment are a certain bunch of people who I won't spoiler since it will ruin the surprise, and they're pretty much a postgame bonus.
Generally speaking, not a lot of people get screwed by high BR, mostly because it's really, really hard to make them lose most of their gain potential, you really would need to grind battles deliberately to end up in that situation, moreover, the game's easy enough for you to bypass that problem altogether with various tricks and the simple fact that your equipment ends up mattering a lot more than your raw stats.

>The plot
Fal'cie plot is really nice, there are way worse plots in FF games.
>The characters
Something against Sazh, Fang, Snow?
>The game railroading you for 30 hours so you can't actually experience the full breadth of the combat until you've gotten sick of everything else
Like X?

>Fal'cie plot is really nice, there are way worse plots in FF games.
No and no.

>Something against Sazh, Fang, Snow?
Sazh is literally the only good character in the game.

>Like X?
X's linearity was also a huge problem, but XIII was far worse.

And the one thing people pretend was good about XIII, the battle system, wasn't really good. Almost everything that wasn't a superboss fell to the same strategy of buff/debuff, chain, launch, damage. It was incredibly thoughtless and automated.

Yeah man, nihilistic with a wicked sense of humor Kefka was much better plot. Also, DUDE, Sepp and rescue a princess. Now those are plots, am i right?

>inb4 reply at page 10

>Fal'cie plot is really nice, there are way worse plots in FF games.
Execution matters a lot, which XIII butchered.

>Something against Sazh, Fang, Snow?
Sazh was one of the few notable non-annoying characters in the whole game, surprisingly.

>Like X?
Except it doesn't. Aside from Rikku joining late, you have free access to a lot of the core mechanics of X, such that they are, to mess around to your whims. Meanwhile XIII is constantly forcing you to play the game in very specific ways which impedes the player from experimenting and properly learning any nuances the battle system might have. It would be like V giving you the jobs, but forcing your party to play as specific ones through major parts of the game. Or VII giving you only specific Materia layouts rather than letting the player pick and choose from what's available according to where they are in the game.

user, that's escapism. Can't you see it's not healthy?

user, that's FFTA. Can't you see it's not as good as the original?

>The only element of a plot is the end goal of the heroes
Holy shit.

There are no good jrpgs that I want to play

Waiting for steam sale to start to get Ni No Kuni 2 and maybe some other rpg. I'm guessing the DLCs aren't worth it at all?
Playing through Hyperdimension Neptunia 1 Rebirth right now.

I am, ironically enough it's Xenoblade. Just not 2, it's X. Just got the Skell and it certainly makes exploration a lot faster. Yet, just like 1, the missions tend to be boring and monotonous. Also, having to complete secondary requirements just to access the story mission is pointless padding. The worst part about it for me though, is the hollow protagonist you play as. Choosing to have a custom protag in a game with a massive affinity system just feels wrong, like a puppet trying to be human.

I will give it some due credit where it deserves it:
-The world is massive and very pleasing to the eye
-There's a ton of party members to unlock
-The class system adds for a decent variety of playstyles and is fun to advance through
-There's a lot of sexy outfits to put the girls in

It's a farcry to the first in terms of music, characters, and story, but it's still a good game. I'm hoping 2 will be an improvement after I'm done with this one.

On the one hand, I'm glad you btfo op.
On the other there are niggas with gf that play jrpgs.
When I started playing persona 5, at first my girlfriend wasn't into it until she saw jokers game play trailer in smash then she got hype. But my friend and I are having her start with persona 3

With the right pins you'll be moving all over the damn place and whooping ass. My favorites in the early part of the game were the monkey slashers for DPS.

>Choosing to have a custom protag in a game with a massive affinity system just feels wrong, like a puppet trying to be human.
That and the Sawano OST ruined X for me.

thread's about to die

Oh, and in regard to 2, no it's not an improvement. It takes a couple steps forward then about 10 steps back. XB1 is still the best of the 3 by a long shot.

Don't we all.

...

Isn't that just lovely? What is Monolith Squeenix now? They pulled it off once, why can't they recapture the greatness of 1?

Worst part is we have no idea when the next xenoblade will release. Got any decent JRPG recommendations that aren't part of a massive series like tales or FF?

>What is Monolith Squeenix now?
XB2 disappointed the shit out of me, but I still found some enjoyment in it. It's just not nearly as good as the people spamming threads pretend it is, and really shot itself in the foot in a lot of places. KH3 was disappointing enough to make me lose faith in humanity after the 15 year wait for that game. Monolith is nowhere near SE's level.

>Got any decent JRPG recommendations that aren't part of a massive series like tales or FF?
Depends on your definition of massive. Just read through this thread and you'll see dozens.

>Also, having to complete secondary requirements just to access the story mission is pointless padding.
user, those "secondary missions" are the core of Xenoblade X. The sidequests are more important (and often better written) than the main quest and exploration is the best and single most important aspect of the game. When the game tells you you need to survey X% of Y continent before progressing the main quest, it's telling you "go on and enjoy the strongest, best parts of the game before continuing the weakest one"
