Shame that there hasnt been any good horror stories about machines recently. For creatures, the MC ususally have a weapon that can inflict pain upon it, so they can kindof defend themselves. Added with being a living creature and flinching from pain, it makes the monsters menancing, but manageable.
Not machines though, they give no shit and will beeline straight for you. Thats the scariest shit ever. Just imagine a heavily armored robot walking straight towards you without stopping, and your guns only chips it.

I didn't play it at launch but Stage 2 was honestly a lot of fun. It might've been broken in balance but the gameplay loop and the universe they created for this game was amazing. Hearing the characters talk before gameplay started, reading the stories, and seeing that the plot was ACTUALLY MOVING FOWARD was something unheard from before this for me in a multiplayer pvp game.

Stage 2 was awful. It completely removed the actual hunting part from the game and you only had to press a button to get an arrow on-screen that pointed you towards the creature.

It deflated the entire experience because it made tracking the monster braindead easy, which meant the hunt was not rewarding for either side.

Being an engineering wiz in a world of robo and android waifus would be neat. Have them fall in love with a human you once you fix up their complex inner components.

Once a technology is sufficiently established, it becomes incredibly cheap to manufacture. For example, GPU manufacturers sell their GPUs at a disgusting profit margin compared to what it costs to make the damn things.

Increase in demand would allow you to drop prices and still maintain your profits because vastly more purchases would be made at the lower price point. Just because everyone wants one when it is unveiled does not mean that everyone is able to get one.

After a price drop, those that were not able to get one will be able to do so, and it is pretty much guaranteed that there are more people capable of shelling out 5k at a whim than people capable of shelling out 50k at a whim.

There is certain characters made in games cartoons and movies that are meant to ruin people as children and turn them towards these things. We to make a list of these games, cartoons movies, ect to keep people away from these things

The individual robot style world will never exist. The potential for abuse is too high, and the value added for consumers is too low.

What people will instead get are cloud controlled puppets. The people with actual direct access to AI will be human oversight staff at top secret facilities, imagine the cold war on fucking steroids.

Your robot will be just like everyone else's, a personality template of your choosing combined with some form of storage of your shared interactions. Threaten to destroy your robot, it doesn't care, because it's like threatening to cut a strand of someone's hair. Decommission a robot for a newer model? It happily walks into the incinerator. People who think they'll ever have an AI in their home are absolutely delusional.
