So is this game worth picking up on Switch?

Yes

it'll probably be awesome tbqh

Incredible game tbqhngl...

Best game of last year with even more content so yes
I personally am holding off since I don't wanna drop another 120+ hours on the game again but if it's your first playthrough this is probably the best version to get

played it back on ps4 and loved it. I’d say get it if you haven’t played it before

Yes, it's one of the better Dragon Quests

Depends on if PC is going to get it via a patch later.

Anyone know if the PS4 version will also get the content? I don't want to drop another $60, even though I do love this game

>patch
>square enix
hahahahahaha
they remade the entire game for the switch version, you wont get a patch

I hope they update PC and PS4. It annoys me when I have to choose between the higher fidelity versions or extra features.

lol the version will remain Switch exclusive.
It's the apology for delaying the game 2 years.

It's a great game, and Switch will be the beat place to play it, I think. Unless all the special editions are coming out elsewhere, too. The music upgrade alone should be worth it. Its shocking how good of a game it ends up being with such wretched "recordings" for the soundtrack.

I am actually playing it this very second. If you like mermaids, theres some cute rhyming ones and Little Mermaid homages, which is fun.

It's very much worth.
Crazy how it was the first game ever announced to be coming to the Switch and its finally coming out in a few months

can i play this without having played the other ones

7 or 8? Don't feel like starting the SNES games just yet.

It's a kick in the nuts for people that bought it day one on pc or ps4.
Just hope the extra content will hit pc and ps4 too. If not then I will forever shit on the switch for making the extra content switch exclusive.

The kick in the nuts was for Switch owners who had to wait 2 years to play this after being told the game was going to be in the platform.

7 was so goddamn slow for me but I hear it's better than 8 in some regards. Really just flip a coin.

yes

Its the only dragon quest I ever finished without getting bored, its quite good. The first story act is a fairly plain/stereotypical jrpg romp, but acts two and three got me way more invested in the characters/story. The game is long as fuck though, and now they added a bunch more content with this version. Not sure if I'm ready to play it again.

Yes. The game does have one throwback to the retro games that won't have as much impact if you don't know them though.

they didn’t even patch the ps4/pc versions of zodiac age to include switch features

I'm mad I couldn't get a refund on my Steam version after this was announced.

STOP BITCHING
PS4/PC VERSION IS COMPLETE
SWITCH IS AN APOLOGY FOR WAITING 2 YEARS
fuck, my caps lock is on
like hell im fixing this crappy post

Totally.

Well lucky for you all you had to do was wait. Pc players has always waited for ports to come out but have we complained?
What happened here is that we WASTED 60 dollars for what is essentially an incomplete game, we didn't even get the option of upgrading unless we have to buy another fucking console. So tell me, which one is worst,
How is the pc/ps4 version compete may I ask?

You deserve it for being stupid
You knew switch version was coming
You knew nintendo always gets the most content when it comes to DQ if youve been following the series at fucking all the last decade and a half

Shit on SE for being niggardly, not the switch.

Yes, every DQ game is great (I haven't played 11 because I've been waiting for a portable version in English though), in the meantime pick up dq8 or dq9.

none multiplat worth it on switch

It's not a delay when Enix almost customarily does this to their DQ games.

What? You do realize having a mainline DQ game on PC is rare as fuck right? Not just that, it's literally the first it was on PC. Is it wrong for me to want to support that so other DQ game could come on PC. If I knew this would happen I wouldn't have bought the fucking game at all.
Oh don't worry, I fully intend on shitting at SE too, but it's obvious enough Nintendo payed SE to keep the extra content exclusive to the switch. So yeah Nintendo is also at fault here. There would be no other reason not the patch the extra content or make it dlc for pc and ps4

Console war shit aside it is kind of lame its switch exclusive idk if I want to double dip

COPE PC faggot

Well I was telling people many months ago this will happen sorry I missed you.

Nintendo doesnt need to pay anyone
DQ belongs on nintendo and Horii values them greatly, they will always get the most content

What does the complete version even add? I've heard it's just some options for marring diferent characters and soundtracks
Honestly if it's only that I don't even care

I mean, they could always ask for Nintendo's blessing like how Kamiya did with Bayo1's Jap audio.

user, the reason that the game was delayed coming to the Switch is that the engine wasn't actually compatible with the Switch so they had to rebuild the entire game, altering all their assets to accommodate the engine change and weaker Switch specs. They're adding new content because it's a two year late release and that sort of care is expected if you're a sensible developer who not only wants your product to sell, but needs your product to sell to turn on a profit on a more expensive than usual port.
The fault lies entirely on Square's end and any blame against Nintendo is strictly, and a bit poor spiritedly conjecture. The reason the content won't be back ported is because again, the development shenanigans would require that they redo the bonus content and make it compatible to the original game again since it's not back portable. This is all public information and consistent to our understanding of the situation even in the case that it's some bizarre corporate conspiracy.

More over, Square's track record has been garbage for this sort of stuff since their inception.

>have PC players ever complained
Absofuckinglutely lmao

Hell yeah. I usually don't like replaying jrpgs, but with the symphonic ost, nip audio, and the 2D mode makes it worth the while.

Other than that mostly quality of life stuff. Making mounts worthwhile, the 3DS bonus content merged into the PS4 version content, costume skins.
