Was forgotten the moment it went epic exclusive
THAT'S FOR WHAT YOU DID TO YDWIN GET FUCKED OBSIDIAN
This.
Did it already release?
It'll probably be fun to pirate and hold us over during the wait for Starfield.
Bethestards seething
nu obsidian is fucking shit man the writing staff is half women half cuckold fetish men
Not forgotten. It will be remembered when the crack comes out.
>thinking nu-obsidian is the same one that made new vegas
based brainlet
I might pirate it to check it out. Even if I like it I'm not sure about giving my money to chink spies. They should just release on GOG.
What else would you expect from another title from the makers of the dullest rpg of all time? Each attempt Obsidian makes to create their own universe rather than simply deconstruct a setting made by others, has been more disastrous than the last. Aside from the outdated gameplay and lifeless cities, Pillars of Eternity's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of combat mechanics, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Sawyer vetoed the idea of making anything at all innovative or original; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable nostalgia pandering to ageing Baldur's Gate fans. Pillars of Eternity might be anti-casual(or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Divinity series in its refusal of spontaneity, fun and excitement.
>a-at least the writing was good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the narrative was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I engaged in dialogue with an NPC the game presented me with a Wiki-page style infodump instead of anything resembling actual human conversation.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time this was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sawyer's mind is so governed by obsession with pointless minutiae of the lore that he has no other style of writing.
Later I read a lavish, loving review of Pillars of Eternity by the same David Gaider. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kiddies are playing Obsidian games at 17 or 18, then when they get older they will go on to enjoy Dragon Age II." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Pillars of Eternity" you are, in fact, trained to shill for Bioware.
based. fuck obsidian they deserve to close after what they did to ydwin.
If you have Win10 you can get it through the Xbox game pass for PC.
jfc nobody whinges this much about the fact that they have to open overwatch using battlenet who fucking cares which drm the devs use
this. saving all my free game game pass promo codes they handed out at E3 for the fall.
the first month for $1 will be a huge success. 6 months for $29 might do okay but who in their right mind will do it again after that?
Hasn't even released yet though
Core gamers were the primary audience and core gamers hate epic, no casual epic user was interested in this shit.
I got the Game Pass thinking I was getting that Borderlands collection. Boy was I wrong. Gonna wait until there are more games on it first.
Didn't this come out like last month...?
Anyway, I can tell this game will be shit. Do not buy this or you will regret it. Mark my words.
Based
I've been keeping up with it there's new gameplay
youtube.com
>Didn't this come out like last month...?
No not till October
the shitposting when this comes out will be great
Honestly I was excited for this game when they announced it but when they showed gameplay and was instantly off put and then the Epic exclusivity was the nail in the coffin. Maybe i will pirate idk
Is the stream of games is good then some people will stay subbed. There are also people who would be fine with paying $15 just to rent a game for a month then cancel. Some of these people will be people who wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't for the pass. For example, I would never have considered getting outer worlds after it moved to the EGS, but now that it is on the game pass I will get it.
Because overwatch was fully funded and developed by Blizzard rather than bribed for exclusivity at the last minute dumbass
I'm so glad Sweeney pre-ordered my copy for me, and I don't have to pay anything.
I'm so tired of these quirky californiesque characters. Holy fuck.
It's got some deep role playing. You can take the gun from the guy and go about your business.... or you can shoot him with it!
Looking forward to the absolute litany of game-breaking bugs on launch in true Obsidian style
But Nu-obsidian is basically a castrated husk of what it once was. Most of the old guard have left and pretty much all of their recent games show it.
>oh no a dev decided to use another platform because they were offered a larger percentage of the proceeds for their own game
This is just basic market logic, and not even a particularly egregious example of it. If they were charging more for it, that would be a legitimate grievance, but as it stands literally nothing is lost on the consumer's end. Valve has a practical monopoly on the DRM market and nobody here ever seems to complain about that.
I'm convinced a lot of the Epic hate really is just an outgrowth of the Tencent yellow peril nonsense and people reflexively trust a "benevolent" American monopoly-holder more than they trust Chinese stakeholders trying to leverage capital against their competitors the same way Valve did.
Can we PLEASE stop spreading this bullshit? Avellone leaving doesn't mean the whole crew left with him. The guys directing this game, Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain, created Fallout. And then made many other great cRPG's.
Please stop with this horseshit.
>It is to the consumers benefit to be locked to a platform which offers no features, uses more memory than other launchers, and spies on you rather than having the choice of their preference
Of course, the Epic apologist also calls out Valve for their "monopoly" while somehow Epic's literal monopoly for their exclusives is fine
literally going to epic only ruins it
Looks pretty bad, I don't like campy shit, a bit of humor is fine making the entire game a joke is tiresome.
Competition would be epic offering a better service set than steam, and customers moving due to it. Not paying publishers to suicide their brand
holy fuck you don't know what you're fucking talking about it's more than avellone. look at their fucking writers.
>>It is to the consumers benefit to be locked to a platform which offers no features, uses more memory than other launchers, and spies on you rather than having the choice of their preference
If developers release a game on Steam, they're not going to release it on other platforms anyway. How is this effectively any different?
>uses more memory than other launchers
This isn't even true, I don't know why everyone believes this?
>spies on you
Every American tech company is PRISM-compliant. The difference is that you presumably live in America where this policy may actually affect you.
>somehow Epic's literal monopoly for their exclusives is fine
Epic literally isn't threatening to monopolize anything, they're breaking into a market that is already monopolized by Valve. You don't even know what that word means.
E3 trailer looked great
>no man's worlds
>Epic literally isn't threatening to monopolize anything, they're breaking into a market that is already monopolized by Valve. You don't even know what that word means.
Lmao, I hope you are getting paid because otherwise I don't know how someone can shill so much. Do you know what monopoly means? Epic is the only source of their exclusives, monopoly. I can use other storefronts other than Steam, not a monopoly.
>still no info about Cass's VA involvement
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH
>implying piracy isn't a thing
>Windows 10
Fat fucking chance I'll ever upgrade to that shitshow for anything lol
