A great trilogy really ought to have all three games with some merit, instead of a janky first, a mediocre second, and stellar third. Witcher III can't carry the entire trilogy on its shoulders.
Neither can Mass Effect or Dark Souls, both which had excellent first games, second games that abandoned some of what made the first great in the first place, and casualized, action-oriented third games.

Dark Souls is a decent trilogy of games however real niggers know that the Miyazaki Trilogy is the true best trilogy in gaming: Demons Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

Can someone explain appeal of Witcher 3 open world to me? I'm not shitting on the game, I'm geniuenly curious what people see in it.
The landscape is just endless fields. It looks great but it gets boring to look at after the first location.
The exploration is boring too, they fucked up big time by putting unexplored locations on the map. And those unexplored locations are boring too, there are like 4 categories of the tops. Sometimes it's some interesting place like that abandoned lighthouse in Velen, but mostly its not worth the trip.
Secondary quests are shit too. Mostly no deviation from the norm, go somewhere and kill monster/s.
One time when the guy from the swamp couldn't pay me for killing a monster and asked me to wait a week, I though that there will be some kind of twist to it. Maybe he will get kidnapped and I will have to track him down or some shit. Nope, you just wait a week and he gives you the money.
RPG are alright but items stats suck dick. What do I give a fuck how many % of bashing protection does a piece of armor give? Am I supposed to determine what kind of damage is dealt by an enemy and switch armor inbetween fights?
Also, they killed alchemy, whitch was one of the best parts of W1. Preparing potions before though fight felt very immersive. Though, it could be boring in such a big open world, so maybe thats for the better.
Overall, a singleplayer mmo.
