never liked this as a kid. i was old enough to appreciate the technical quality but it just felt so busy.

Literally my very first game.

Why yes, I do prefer Tooie over Kazooie. How could you tell?

What young person hasn't at least touched DKC?

I played it for the first time a year ago and it's one of my favorite games now.

One of my favorite games of all time, but not going to have you group me as some faggot old man because its funny to laugh at me because I'm old you gay little redditor

DKC2 is now my favorite game, and it used to be ocarina of time. Should I be ashamed of old games being my favorite, or should I say something like dark souls?

>fuck up Banjo's proportions
>he just looks like a brown Conga

The extremely small head

Damn this brings back so many memories, I remember getting a VHS tape in the mail that was an advertisement for the game. I saw nintendo on the package and thought I was getting the actual game, was still crazy exciting even though it was just a camera guy looking around their office and filming a bit of gameplay.

DKC2 is now my favorite game, used to be MMX but I raped that game to death literally hundreds of times and don't even enjoy playing it anymore as a result. But on the topic of your taste who gives a fuck about looking cool or niche, like what you like and be honest about it.

>F Zero GX

Oh good good very nice
>Sonic CD

Okay PLEASE explain why you pick this over the other 2.

>Okay PLEASE explain why you pick this over the other 2.
CD has one of the most godly soundtracks in all of gaming, my appreciation for it can't be understated. I also like the visuals and the time travel gimmick, and I like how heavily the game leans on Sonic's physics in its levels because that's one of my favorite parts of Sonic. I'm not gonna lie, Sonic CD is a short game that can't really afford to have the few shit parts it does like Wacky Workbench but in comparison, Sonic 2's latter half really drags whereas 3&K is arguably cheating. On the topic of 3&K, I personally don't like the Sonic 3 half much and my autism has never ever liked the Sonic sprite in that game, thank God for Sonic 3C.

Mania is the most complete and polished Sonic package to date but that's not very fair either considering how much it reuses. It's an impressive refinement of classic Sonic but I gotta give CD due credit

>Liking Sonic CD
Why.

DKC is pure kino
DKC2 is objectively the best SNES game in every category.

>not liking Sonic CD
Spotted the poorfag

I just explained it in the post right above yours

How do you sip before you crack open the can?

This game ruined me for a while, gave me my first lesson that no matter how hard you try in life sometimes you just get fucked. If anyone remembers back in the day they used to have these video game sponsored tournaments at Blockbuster, you would pick between a couple of games and play them and whoever got the best scores would get prizes and a chance to play on a bigger level. Well one of the games was DKC, I was convinced that I could win the thing.

My family was pretty poor so it blew my mind one day when my dad came home with a copy of the game. From the description I was told beforehand getting further in the game in the time limit was more rewarding than just straight up getting points. So for the next week I practiced day and night. For hours my dad would drill me with a stopwatch and we would practice speeding through the levels grabbing as many bananas as possible along the way. But always with a focus on progressing over points.

pt 1

pt 2

Well the day of the tourny comes and I am psyched, I had the first 6 or so levels down to where I could do them in my sleep. Basically I was speedrunning before speedrunning was a thing. So I start doing my thing and I blaze through the first 4 or 5 levels perfectly. The Blockbuster guy watching us is making surprised noises but I'm not really paying attention.

I get to the 6th level and it is this underground mine with this one part where you have to bounce on tires to get over/in between bees to get to the next tire. This was the only thing I had practiced that gave me trouble, the timing of the bees was random and if you stopped to waiting it out you wouldn't finish the level in time. But if you just went for it there was a 50/50 chance you would hit a bee and die.

Well I could see my time was running out (it was a custom game that had a timer that would end your run) so I just took a chance and went for the quick bounce. But that cold ass motherfucker was waiting for me, I tried to midair correct but it was too late and I ate dirt. That was the end of my run, I was pretty disappointed with myself because I had practiced that part so much and thought I could make it. But then I saw the blockbuster guy and he was in shock, he told me he had never seen anyone get even half as many levels completed as I had. So I thought maybe I had a chance after all.

After the tourny ends I come back to check on the rankings, I'm not even close to the top, my friend who didn't practice the game at all was in the top 5. I asked him wtf he did and he said he just ran around grabbing bananas. He went through maybe two or 3 levels tops. I couldn't fucking believe it, I asked the blockbuster guy wtf was going on and he said that the game gives you a lot more points for bananas compared to beating levels. But nowhere in any of the information was this mentioned. I'm pretty sure I bawled my eyes out right there in the store in front of everyone. Probably embarrassed the hell out of my dad. I couldn't believe I had worked so hard and it was all pointless, my training was a complete waste. I did get a consolation prize of a pack of xmen cards, and I think my dad took me out for ice cream after. I felt shitty for days after that but looking back on it now I don't regret it. It was a powerful lesson for a young kid. What an game though, the music, the atmosphere. It was ahead of its time in every way. I'll never forget you DK.
