Maintain large flames (sacred fire) out of your exhaust for the ENTIRE RACE. Pic related. Time your boosts as late as possible before backfiring. You get way more reserves this way rather than immediately pressing L1 when it turns red. Doing this made my times improve a ton, and makes sacred fire easier to maintain.

Handling/Accel is always the best combo in kart racers (with items enabled). You dominate the item game and use it to win, then win more, and keep winning more until you win. Actively harass, deny, and bully max-speed-"hurr shortest hypothetical time on a straight, flat course with no hazards or other racers" fags.

Also you have hairpin turns, hazard avoidance, and shortcuts down ez without losing any real amount of time.

Anyone else feel that they should have saved the Crash and Spyro remakes for next-gen? Honestly these PS4 games are disappointing looking. Keep in mind that they were made not actually advanced enough because they had to be playable on weak underpowered shit like Ninendo's Switch.

But with next-gen power? The thought of how good scales and fur can look for Crash and Spyro would be exquisite.....but now that's not going to happen. You see Activision on their "wisdom" chose to remake Spyro and Crash's ONLY good games now for lesser hardware. Disgusting. Now we're not guaranteed new games and if we get new games they'll be shit by default. Horrible times we live in. This nostalgia romp cannot last forever and won't last forever and now that they're used up all classic Crash and Spyro games it's over. Unless Activision wants to fund remakes of the shit games no one likes and helped bury Crash and Spyro in the first place. It's either that or back to cheaper looking shit like Skylanders.

What a shame and what a waste, shame that PS5 wasn't the console of choice to remake these classics. Oh well at least if Banjo gets a remake at least he'll be done on next-gen hardware that will be able to do his fur and Kazooie's feathers properly. There are normal animals everywhere in the Crash games so he's the way he is because of Cortex and Brio. The Crash story was never fleshed out(it's a wacky platformer) so you're supposed to assume that Cortex wants to take over the world with mutants, based on the dialogue that he wanted Crash to lead them.

A personal headcanony explination I've come up with.

N.Brio create a super serum that evolves animals immediately , but they're still animals and while they've increased the capacity for knowledge and learning they're still pretty much blank slates of animal instinct. Then comes in Neo Cortex, and his patented cortex vortex which basically just floods the subjects spongey, knowledge absorbing brain with televised media. Each animal was introduced into various genre of media and that's the Crux of their personalities. Pootaroo was probably hit with every Goodfellas-esqe mafia story under the sink while tiny and koala got the action star treatment. Etc etc. The only exception is probably ripper roo, who I assume was introduced to every bit of media cortex had on hand and getting fucked because of it. Coco is the product of 90's kid shows and probably anime, things that had a greater presence of tech and sci-fi like elements. Crash, on the other hand, probably got about halfway through the golden age of Looney toons before the machine exploded . He's not exactly dumb, just loony

The store page says that there's in-app purchases. Doesn't necessarily mean that there's microtransactions, and further, the devs have made it sound like there won't be anything behind a paywall. You also earn the in-game currency doing just about everything, so hopefully unlocks won't be a massive grind. This has all been a point of contention the past few days, but everything else about the game is looking pretty damn good.

This will actually make handling characters better online than people are thinking, they can swerve away from items with ease and still hold their line, but if you put a NITRO in the middle of any of these apexes, speed characters trying to set good times have nowhere to go

There are no microtransactions.

There are free timed events however that unlock new characters. But these rotate every so often so you always have a chance of getting them. It's like a constant incentive to keep playing.

Evolvo Ray makes fuzzy little animals into super evolved versions of their species, basically giving them human intelligence while also with the trait bonuses of their species.

The Cortex Vortex is a brainwashing device. Its purpose is to turn the super animals into super soldiers, to make them blindly follow Cortex's orders. BUT, the Cortex Vortex is wildly unstable. It does without fail make all of its subjects insane.

Crash is a failed attempt at making an army general, who was given the combat knowledge but his mind rejected the evil Cortex tried to brainwash him with. Koala Kong is more successful, but lacked in intelligence. Tiny is the successful one: Powerful enough to lead, and intelligent enough to talk with but not rise up against their masters.

Ripper Roo is a failed attempt at a lab assistant, too overloaded with energy. Coco is a more successful one, but wasn't put through the evil brainwashing by the time Crash released her due to them being cautious to not overdo it and create another Roo situation. This would have the least number.

Tawna is a successful attempt at a civilian class. The intention was that they would make up the loyal populace of Cortex's new world, though Cortex turning the likes of Pinstripe and the Komodo Bros into assassins instead of normal people was a bit part of his falling out with Brio (who just wanted to make cute Nitro girls I guess).

After Brio leaves, Cortex starts experimenting with more Cyborg types such as Dingodile and Crunch, who are basically the true Super-Soldiers who have heightened intelligence and can handle missions alone, and are made to receive constant upgrades.

The reason Bandicoots were used so often was to provide a visual benchmark of how the different mutations can effect the same species. However, Bandicoots it would turn out would reject the brainwashing process due to being good creatures by nature. Making Crunch was partly down to Cortex being a petty fuck who wanted to prove that he could control a Bandicoot while also being the most ironic way for Crash to be killed.
