It's a decent experience, but it's really just a generic block puzzler set in some trippy environments. Only a handful of puzzles and areas actually take advantage of the unique environment
Talos is like the opposite. A lot of interesting and difficult puzzles, but set in an extremely generic environment with mostly forgettable elements.
Portal is the best of both, but is limited by its extremely easy puzzles. Workshop and mods somewhat redeem it though.

I gotta agree, Portal games are pretty poor puzzle games, they just have nice presentation. Some of the community map packs I've played on steam community for Portal 2 were way beyond anything Valve came up with, but I guess that's because they aimed it at casual meme spewing children.

This is the same thing in nearly every puzzle game. Take the witness for example. The solar panel puzzle looks difficult until you see the reflection of the sun. The tetris cube puzzles are the same as soon as you learn what you have to do based of of the shapes.
Every puzzle game is built off of mechanics that are used to solve the puzzles.
As soon as you understand the mechanics, the puzzle becomes obvious.

Yes, but in those options you still have the option of putting things elsewhere, it just doesn't work. In Portal some of the time the majority of the level is covered in anti-portal shit, so by simple process of elimination you put the two portals in the spots that are left and then you've won. You don't have to figure the puzzle out, you just do that and it solves itself.

Having the option to solve a puzzle wrong after learning the solution is like having the option to kill yourself via pit at the end of a FPS level. Yes its present. but to choose to do so does not make the game a unique puzzle game.
Its not like I even dislike the puzzle games mentioned in this thread. I played quite a few of them and beat the ones I played. (I am a poorfag). I enjoyed the games but to say a game is bad because of things present in all puzzle games, like the other puzzle games dont have the same or similar issues

You're still not understanding.
The problem with Portal (sometimes) is that you only have 1 option, or a very small handful. In other puzzle games there are lots of options and you figure out the correct one in order to solve the puzzle. In Portal, for some cases, there are only 1 or 2 options to begin with, so you just place the portals where they can be placed and it is already done. You don't even need to figure out the solution, once the portals are placed in the only places they can go it becomes obvious.

I played through Portal, the Dark Souls of puzzle games. I can't be a casual.

I just played through the entirity of portal one during the course of this thread. (Game is really short like 40 minutes at most) The first didn't have any of what you're talking about in the first part before the escape. and had a few in the escape like portaling through the pistons.
Portal two has even less in actual puzzle sequences like the chambers. It has what you are talking about when you are traversing between the areas in the underground.

Witness is definitely better than Talos in regards to puzzle design, puzzle mechanics, and exploration.

Riven, Quern, Obduction, etc. are better than all of OP's games though.
