It would have starred a slightly older, more hardened Geo Stellar (redesigned with new clothes and a new Visualizer) and a brand-new character named Kazuma (pictured on the left). Kazuma was a genius hacker and a direct descendant of Lan Hikari's family. The general premise of the game involved Geo and Kazuma crossing paths and becoming outlaw hackers. The dynamic duo would eventually be sought by the Satella Police. Reward for their capture was a hefty 8,000,000 Zenny a piece.

Of course Operation Shooting Star was gonna flop. It was a bare bones port of the first BN game. That was such an insult to the fans and I knew they were going to hold its poor sales against us back in the day.

It's kind of weird that Mega Man's bigger problem was Capcom producing too *many* games. In hindsight I'm glad we have so many subseries and main series games of solid quality, but I realize that damaged it more than helped it.

Seems like a sort of dodged bullet. As much as it sucks it got canceled, this also seems like it was going to try to unnecessarily be both edgier and more pandering to BN, the latter especially looking like it could've been not handled entirely well.

But who knows, you never can tell how good or bad a canceled game would've really been.

I thought the story of Star Force 1 was pretty decent in a non-cheesy way. SF2 much less so but SF3 went in a slightly better direction.

I've been playing Star force 1 recently since I never knew it existed. I played all the bn games many years ago and I dont know how I feel about the new combat system.
Only 1-plane movement, no sword+longsword+widesword combos.
This just makes me want to play battle network again honestly

PAs are back in 3. 3 is the best of them by far gameplay-wise.

The only flaw with SF3s gameplay is that there wasn’t a BugStyle type Noise Change

Whole noise system was badly thought out in 3, they shouldn't have had elemental noises and then force you to use non elemental cards to make use of them. It's retarded. Having to rely on RNG to change noise is also retarded. There needs to be a hack that fixes these

And inspiring him to use Tribe On for the first time

I actually prefer that they keep Luna out of a battle role, it fits her character more anyway. It's her whole thing, she doesn't fight so they write her in as Geo's emotional support, which ironically makes her matter more than the other characters that actually do fight.

Operation Shooting Star only got a japanese release and it flopped by being a really meh port

man i wonder what impact kazuma being lans decendent be other than fanservice. with how almost everythign was tied up at the end of sf3, maybe this was gonna start a new trilogy ending off with 6 with finding out who wins the geo bowl

At the very least it was nice that the 'version exclusive' Noises were more like "Version biases" So while Gemini Noise was more likely to be obtained in Black Ace, you could still get it in Red Joker.

It would have made things more complicated but I really liked the "gradual change" they advertised originally, which had you gaining parts as noise increased.
