>What is this? Yume Shikki is a yume nikki fangame being made as a collaborative effort by various members of the Yea Forums board in a similar vein to Yume 2kki.
>How long has this been in development? The original thread suggesting the idea was posted on Yea Forums on the 19th of april, development started a few days after this and the first build was released one week later on the 26th of april
>Can i help out? Of course, you can join the development team via google docs here drive.google.com/open?id=1aBAAaipxu-snIAZdvh8rYXLNxtm5Bk-D , or you can simply help out by testing new builds and suggesting ideas. Even posting an old dream down below can help us get the creative juices flowing
As always, devs will be hanging around responding to comments for a while after the thread is first up so feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
We're doing fine. lately, we've been just discussing a lot of things.
William Gomez
I don't even remember anymore.
Jayden Moore
mostly due to talk of redesigning the mc and nobody wanting to make new effects if the graphics are going to have to be redone for a new mc other than that its just a bit slower than usual
Jose Reyes
Mind sharing?
Jeremiah Hall
This is pretty much an amalgamation of a lot of ideas we've had lately.
Keep in mind, this is only a concept map, this will likely not reflect the final design.
Jacob Evans
Thanks dude Look cool
Kevin Sanchez
the idea of saving residents being the main goal seems cool. don't feel obligated to follow the yume nikki formula break free and cover new ground and gameplay mechanics to make the game stand out
the wiki was made before we considered changing the main character, and it hasn't been updeated to reflect that yet
Leo Collins
i think if you change the main character you are going to have to really find a way to draw attention to the game and make it not jut feel like another yume nikki clone, because most of Yea Forums was behind the idea because it was yotsuba.
and it's a lot easyer to get Yea Forums and Yea Forums users behind a game about yotsuba than an oc
Personally, I'm weary about changing the main character, and if the reactions in this thread are anything to go by, I think it might be best to just scrap that idea.
Wyatt Foster
that's a lot of dreams
Jordan Russell
This looks like a literal clusterfuck
Matthew Allen
I didn't make the pic, but the idea behind it is to have multiple nexuses about the size of the original game, connected through various different means. The sheer size of is the only thing that really makes it look complicated.
Asher James
for you
Camden Hall
it's not a completely bad idea, but you really need to have a good reason behind it.
you need to make the whole game make sense from an aesthetic point of of view and a narrative point of view. and that also includes the main character.
there are a lot of benefits that come with narratively using a already established character like yotsuba.
think about it she is a manga character, you not only have the recognition of her being associated with Yea Forums and the game being made from Yea Forums but you also have all the manga volumes of yotsuba to work from for inspiration to add into your game.
you can base whole rooms from chapters in the manga, you could have it so that instead of dream worlds it's manga volumes, in which she explores instead of writing into a dream dairy what about if this yotsuba is a mangaka and she goes over to her work desk to draw manga in order to save or do some other kind of mechanic.
when having a main character also think about how they fall into the bigger picture of the game design.
since she is a manga character you don't even have to limit yourself to maybe even just taking inspiration from just her manga, maybe the game could be also inspired by other manga and reference manga culture and 4 chan culture and how they are interconnected to really make your game less of a clone and more of a think piece.
I wish I saw a thread of this sooner I had a dream a month ago that reflected a lot about certain mechanics in a game like this and now I’m trying to remember. The only thing I have recollection about is that when the player gets in bed and holds a button/key there is an Easter egg that causes the game to freeze and display an eerie wallpaper I can’t describe very well. Been too long now dammit
Cooper Walker
I like that idea a lot.
Zachary Harris
what if staying in bed without pressing any inputs for awhile brought you to another place? Like one of the routes in Wario Land 2
I think he means needing the RTP, and I don't think there's anything we can do about that.
Adrian White
I was wondering when you'd come back.

Yeah when I woke up I really was taken back by how odd it made me felt I like this too with a randomizer
Thinking more on it now I can vaguely remember that there was an area that was a mirrored version of the starting room and the player can actually leave the room and roam around. I saw other characters around and when talking to them they would reply with either sighs or grunts depending on their looks. The interesting part was that once I left the building the outside area resembled dawn/morning-esque still frame pictures that I could walk through with calm piano music. The player finally reached a house with 2-3 male looking characters in a two room shack like house and when talking to one starts a fade out and in that took me off guard. There was a small child, the same amount of dudes around and the player all seemingly older. I put two and two together and controlled the player to leave the house and this is where I got spooked. The still frame pictures were still there to walk through but the music started to blare with horrific sounds clashing and the more a progressed the more I realized that I lost my way back home. I can't remember anything else.
Sorry might be a TL;DR but wanted to share
Parker Morris
Pretty interesting stuff. If you remember anything else, feel free to post it in the google drive.
Jason Campbell
there should be a doc for posting dreams in there somewhere.
Kevin Rodriguez
Bump
Thomas Gray
Scrap the idea Getting rid of Yotsuba is fucking retarded
Jason Gutierrez
why remove her? Why would be afraid of alienating anyone when the project is for us?
Mason Sanchez
To be honest, I don't even remember why we considered changing the main character in the first place.
Josiah Ross
Based on an actual dream I had recently. Since there already is a desert area in the game, this feels redundant, but I felt like sharing nonetheless.
this is a very nice share and love the orange dawn background in the freefall scene.
Jose Lopez
Why is this going to biweekly? Still, thank you so much for continuing to post!
Dylan Diaz
I like it.
Xavier Adams
We decided to go biweekly to give us more time to provide more substantial updates, but unfortunately, we weren't able to do that, but I made a thread anyway just to tell everyone that we're still alive,
Luis Brown
I appreciate making the thread anyways. Please continue to do so!
