Just finish chapter 5 of this
>Fire Emblem thread
I'm starting a new playthrough of thracia. I hear some mixed reviews on the new translation but the the game itself is as fun as ever.
Based Arvis gets another one
>thought Fire Emblem was for children and weeboo
it is thou
I've been going through Binding Blade lately. It's been kind of fun but holy fuck why does Roy suck so much?
Character-story integration
It wasn't always for weebs, FE pre awakening used to be for men.
Pre Tellius, you mean.
Yes it is me. What do you want?
Tellius was weebish in artstyle only. They were actually darker than the GBA games (still not as dark as Genealogy though).
I wouldn't say it's any more or less weeb, It's just that what counts has weeb has really changed since FE first came out. Back when it first came out Japan was really big into western flavored fantasy
got a good kek out of me
It's got a generic message and the biggest Mary Sue MC in Ike ever in FE until Corrin.
yeah?
Start playing FE4 for waifu breeding
End up cucked and depressed
Say thank you to Dew for repairing your holy weapons and upgrading your them in Fire Emblem: Heroes.
What's Mary Sueish about Ike?
so I should be waiting to promote my dudes in 6?
No, that's a game that benefits from early promotion.
>Secret Noble who's father was a Knight
>But none of the costs of it, just the EPIC badassary of being a mercenary
>Dicksucked throughout and even in later games as the "strongest EVER" and practically worshiped in FE10
>Has anachronistic views in his setting, especially regarding nobility and the Laguz
>Characters like Shinnon and Gatrie are portrayed negatively for "abandoning" the company even though Ike got command of it due to pure nepotism, like a noble inherits his estate
The sad thing is, until he was in Smash Bros Brawl no-one thought too highly of him. It's a shame Sakurai did the shilling advertisement thing for him because he's rocketed in popularity and I have to deal with people pushing this false-narrative of him always being super popular.
>Basic story telling tropes are now MS qualities
You're a tit
Ike has no flaws. Even his snarkiness and romantic involvement with Elincia in FE9 is 100% Treehouse fan fiction.
Ike is constantly seconding guessing himself and his ability to lead while relying on the council of those around him. A character isn't a Mary Sue because they're not complete shit or have special characteristics.
Micaiah was more of a Mary Sue than Ike could ever be.
Honestly Roy isn't that bad if you bother to keep him leveled up, in part thanks to the sheer abundance of axe users in the early game.
He only really starts to suck when everyone else starts promoting, but then he gets his promotion and the sword of dragonmurder and he just shits all over everything he comes across.
It has no self inserts because FE4 didn't believe in cancer. You played yourself.
Because you haven't gotten to the weeb entries yet
Micaiah is more of a living plot device than anything. Whatever character that she and the rest of the dawn brigade could have reasonable developed got gutted by IS' way of handling the plot.
play hard mode
play hard mode and go fast
Im on normal mode and Roy hasn't gotten shit for stats. It would almost be funny if it weren't so sad.
Awakening, Fates and 3H (for now) really did a number on FE's image, haven't they? I see so many people thinking they're just generic anime nonsense, not really knowing what their stories were like.
So, who did you guys pick?
It's FE4, of course I picked the one on a horse. He's also the funnier option.
I'm pretty sure user's cuckery and depression just comes from what happened to Sigurd.
the infantry one was cooler, either way they both become kinda useless by chapter 8 since axes suck dick and Leif can use the brave axe better anyway
Even when I play with subs they're benchwarmers
This completely. I mean I wasn’t there for it but it was basically GAR vs MOE on Yea Forums was a thing and MOEshit won out in the long run
>I mean I wasn’t there for it
It was great. The whole anime fandom was a much better thing to be part of. No casuals shitting up the joint, people who actually knew what they were on about and everyone had to on some level at least put in some amount of effort instead of just being spoonfed by streaming services.
>Ike has no flaws
He's impulsive, naive and too honest. He'd be dead after insulting Sanaki if she wasn't so tolerant. As a shonen protag he's favored by luck.
based and dojya~~npilled
Ike isn't a noble. Yes, Greil was a knight, but since when did knights get noble status? He didn't rule over an area, or govern any subjects, he was a general of an army.
I wish this game's ost was more recognized. I haven't heard another game use leitmotif nearly as effectively.
give me some ideas for a fe5 meme run
Marty solo.
No mounts, every horse and flier is constantly dismounted
No death Iron Man. Anyone dies, start over.
I don't know why but I have a great love for 90s Japanese fantasy stuff like FE4. But then again I just like standard fantasy stuff in general. I like my elves arrogant and pointy-eared, I like my dwarves drunk and stubborn, and I like my wizard hats 5 sizes too big, and I will never tire of any of these tropes.
It doesn't matter who you pick here, they will never live up to Lex the axe murderer AKA mini-Hector on a horse
>I don't know why but I have a great love for 90s Japanese fantasy stuff
Shoulder pads.
That, and big hair. God I fucking LOVE BIG HAIR
He'd get put to sleep
I could try this but its not much of a challenge when you're warping all over the place and much of the game is indoors anyway
that's a start but not enough on its own, thracia is ez
it was fun but holy fuck i hate some of its gigantic maps
Reminder that if Manfroy and the Loptyr Sect didn't exist, Arvis' empire would have been 100% peaceful. He was completely right to do what he did, he made Jugdral great again.
Honestly, FE4 is not like that at all. Unlike other fantasy of that time, there are no fantasy races, no grand adventure. It's about medieval politics for half of it.
Arvis wouldn't have an empire without loptous kikes.
But it is a grand adventure. Noble knights and wizards travelling the land to rid the people of the dark lord's minions. Sounds like a comfy poorly animated tv show narrated by totally-not-merlin. At least that's part of the story, and how I think it connects to standard old fantasy. The other part of it is as you said, politics.
That shit is kino though
"hurr durr it was a different time"
>medieval fantasy, mostly grounded with some magic
>medieval politics and war of succession with several parties
>incest plays an important role
>dragon blood
>protagonist gets invited to a bbq
This sort of thing is more popular than ever
Yeah, except now it's all centered around some shut in neet who never has to work for damn near anything and cheap dragon quest knock off bullshit because video game
Nintendo should've totally banked on the GoT craze when they had the chance, and not double down on the anime. I have no idea if it would sell more in practice, but it would lead to some more interesting stories. Or just a FE4 remake.
Any tips on getting through this? I'm on Chapter 3 ans the gameplay is boring the shit out of me the GBA games spoiled me way too much
Just forget about the training foot units and go all in on the mounted ones(especially Sigurd).
Trying to drag the footies around in Part 1 is the very essence of tedium.
Instead of Yune completely shafting any of Micaiah's relevance from part4 onwards, they should have continued making her purely antagonistic to Ike's party to the end. And have her suffer the consequences when Ashera turns her army to stone.
Spam the shit out of the arena every single level. People don't die if they die in the arena, they just pop out with one health. You'll end up with lods of emone and experience as long as you haven't been completely neglecting your units' experience to the point of them being unable to complete more than a few rounds.
>I thought Fire Emblem was for children and weeboo
It is now. But before it used to be for teenage girls instead, and it was way better back then.
The axe fighter cause you get the nosferatu tome for Julia which helps out much more in the long run

>ctrl-f Arvis

I fucking hate you all.
Alvis?
Alvis?
AAAAAAAAAAAALVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!
This feels like bait.
But I'll try. What are you doing so far? How are your guys? How come you're not using a guide?
This game wasn't even gonna be called Fire Emblem, but Nintendo wanted them to do it for the brand recognition.
That's why it's so kino compared to the others.
Not really. You can get Nosferatu/Resire just fine recruiting Johan. The only thing that matters is which one you capture first. If Johan turns good, then a bunch of axe knights move out from Rivough to capture his castle. Then you can just recapture it later.
I actually did not know that, at least I know now for whenever I do my next playthrough so thanks for the tip
Based and shotapilled
You're welcome, man.
Also, another tip: For every player-affiliated castle you have by the end of the map (that is, castles that fly blue colors and aren't destroyed), you get 1000 gold added to every unit's funds. So going out of your way to capture Johalva's castle after killing him, or letting Lenster or Manster fall to the enemy only to recapture them immediately after, is actually beneficial.
Careful, though. This trick only works if the castle is flying green colors. If they're flying blue, all that letting an enemy touch them will do is wreck them.
Why in the world would you not watch the Lodoss OVAs in 1080p? The remaster is too gorgeous for 720p.
I just grabbed whatever at the time without looking at it
what's the problem here
Still not worth using as a father over Holyn.

I fucking hate you all.
Zigludo isn't a name, idiot.
>played every AAA and indie game
>bored with new ones
>havent touched a single JRPG except Nier Automata
Give me 1 reason why I should get into JRPGs?
So is that guy who was complaining about Holsety Arthur still around? Because I've got a not-so-satisfying answer to his query.
Hand it over, that thing, your dark hole.
You can give people the voids where your soul used to be? That'd probably open up a new angle in devilry.
What are you talking about? He is one of few non-noble/royals MC in the series.
Not really. He's still the son of a famous general and a shrine maiden.
that didn't give him any station in life. His only blessing was being trained by one of the greatest swordsmen in the land
It's not like they said raquesis or ced, arvis is perfectly reasonable
No it isn't, it's still one more term I have to google for whenever I'm trying to look for opinions. Why the fuck can't they be a single fucking name that everybody agrees on?
>implying it's a perfectly good translation outside of nintendo power
>FE6 Hard Mode
If I wanted to play an unfun, overtuned difficulty level, I'd just play Awakening Lunatic+
tellius was libtard furfag emblem and wasn't dark at all. Unless you think dark is sophomoric edge. The tone of the GBA games is more mature.
HHM is harder than FE6 hardmode. Do you not know about the retarded FE6 stat bonus?
He's better off functioning as a pair of glasses for Lilina
FE6 is the complete opposite of awakening in terms of map design and hard mode is too easy if anything
