Yes, but it’s actually understandable. Neku lost his memory and had next to no clue over what was going on, and Uzuki threatened to Erase him if he didn’t go through with killing Shiki. It doesn’t justify his actions but it does make them understandable and he improves exponentially as a character after this happens.

TWEWY devs had a clear, consistent vision on what they wanted to do with the game and went at it with a lot of heart and passion. DmC devs constantly changed things to better appeal to the core fanbase without understanding what made the original Devil May Cry series work so well and wimped out of fully realizing their initial concepts multiple times.
