based tumblr bros represent

ew no

I did, back in 2008

I went there from here way back when.
I just used the towns and virtual Hollywood as a glorified chatroom though.

99% of all people on this board are too young to even know gaia

I cybered many thots in my time there.

based. One chic told me that she occasionally let her dog mount her.

I didn't discover Yea Forums through Gaia, but I was active on both sites at the same time between 2006-2010.

It's kind of ironic that Yea Forums is now filled with obvious underageb&, whereas Gaia is pretty much just people in their 20's now.

Did they ever fix the severe hyperinflation?

Gaia and about 20 other forums. This was long ago. Hated everyone there except this one girl who sent me lewds.

Sorta. A few years ago they introduced "Platinum" as a new currency that more or less replaced "Gold". It seemed like an attempt at forcing an economic hard reset without just taking everyone's stuff away.

>whereas Gaia is pretty much just people in their 20's now.
It's nuts how fast time flies.
I used to know a ton of people on Gaia who were in their 30's and 40's back in the late 00's.

I'm not proud of it, but yeah.

All the GD fags went on to become sensitive tumblr funnymen while all the based retards in the Chatterbox infested this website.

Boxxy did
To Yea Forums

>Now that the dust has settled, did anyone come to Yea Forums from there?

Not directly.
I started on Neopets, then left for Gaia Online, from there I moved to YTMND, and then finally I arrived here where I've been ever since.
I think I came here... Somewhere between 2007-2010?

Roleplayed so much 15-16 years ago on GaiaOnline.

Probably, yeah.
Personally? I'm from Newgrounds.

The long way around

I used to grind gold inside that sawmill place in zomg ages ago
Gaia is the thing that taught me English and introduced me to a lot of sites so it was definitely a fun journey

>It's kind of ironic that Yea Forums is now filled with obvious underageb&, whereas Gaia is pretty much just people in their 20's now.

You've actually depressed the shit out of me by saying this simply because it's so fucking true. I want to go back.

Back in 2003 I played Gaia Online but I never engaged in forums. I started talking to people around the world by 2005 and I used to hang out around on Naruto-kun forum's off-topic section, shitposting like a mad cunt with my inaudible grammar.

It hurts brehs. I've done nothing with myself.

*sits on top of a tree branch*

=W=

I'm weirdly okay with underage newfags because it means Yea Forums is growing and continues to remain a relevant online community in some way or another.
If we didn't have newfags we wouldn't have oldfags and so on and so forth- the site would die and we'd end up like YTMND.

It's a good way to put it but quite often I feel very out of touch with the site now or just tired of it. The incredibly lazy shitposting of "cope, dilate" etc and the tranny obsession is just shite. Yea Forums and Yea Forums have undoubtedly changed for the worse.

did anyone else sell feet signs?

Of course they did. Same as how there's plenty of anons from reddit and resetera and discord and wherever else who migrate here. I came here from Something Awful, which isn't too strange since Yea Forums was birthed by a goon, but in those early years Yea Forums migrants were mostly people getting permabanned by lowtax and his insane mods. If you think jannies here are getting out of control, you missed out on prime open rebellion against freaky mods 15 years ago. Anyone who posted in a thread would get caught in a permaban wave on SA. Sometimes at random.

I came to Yea Forums late 2004 or so, I remember that was used as an insult a lot. "Go back to gaia", and all that shit. Shit I remember demotivational poseters bein popular until 2006.

all the ERPrs did

>gaia
thats small time, they atleast hear about gaia, even hobbo hotel
WHERE.IS.MY.COKEMUSIC.NIGGAS

>I feel out of touch with the current userbase.

That's my main issue too. Not every corner of the internet needs to be filled with people I can identify with, but I miss when that was more the case around here. And I'm positive a lot of it just has to do with generational differences.

I never understood if it was apathy or an inability to effectively moderate the size of the site's userbase that led to Gaia becoming so fucking horny. It definitely was brimming with a bunch of sexually frustrated nerds across the age, gender, and sexual spectrum. That's maybe what it had most in common with Yea Forums?

2007 batch reporting in. I wonder how much my coco and kiki would sell nowadays. The economy of gaia went bannanas.

I remember when getting girls was easy

Just roll up in rally and *pokes u* ^3^

I went from IMVU, to GaiaOnline, to Facepunch and then finally to here. I was around 10 to 13 years old back when I used IMVU and Gaia. Around 14 when I moved over to Facepunch, and around 15 I discovered Yea Forums, by 16 I had stopped luring Yea Forums and started posting, 5 years later I was permanently banned from Facepunch for the 4th time, mainly for having unorthodox views on incest. I am now 28.

who /dsipaint/ here?

I can't believe that I've had more girlfriends on Gaia Online than I've had in real life...

you are like baby with little baby virtual chat programs

Attached: the palace chat.jpg (1280x1093, 287K)

I came from the Adult Swim message boards in summer 2007.

It I had to make any old man complaints it feels like the newer 'generation' is way more fucking mean, less funny, less creative, and just more spiteful and bitter in general.
There's far less of a mischievous nature to them and they don't really do anything fun. The last 'amazing' thing I remember this community doing was done by /pol/ where they fucked around with Shia Labeouf: goofed off at his "we will not divide us" stream and astrologically calabrated the location of his cabin flag and replaced it with a MAGA hat. That's good lighthearted fun.

I also miss emotes.

lmao I know this feel, not the amount of girlfriends but the fact that I had them at fucking 13 and hung out with a small group of buddies with their girls in towns, its jarring because it sounds ridiculous. I blame memes and cringe culture, we should have let kids be kids and do cringey shit without young adults shitting on them.

I came from facepunch back in 06

Two to two-and-a-half trillion, from the looks of it. That's actually pretty cheap.

I remember the music I made was like 90% of the hanoi guitar or w/e it was called

This looks like some shit I'd see in a CSI episode on cyberhackers.

100% of my time spent of Gaia was me trying to get a Nightmare Scarf but being too poor at gold management to ever get one. I never got one. Fuck Gaia.

the late 90s internet community a wild place

>It I had to make any old man complaints it feels like the newer 'generation' is way more fucking mean, less funny, less creative, and just more spiteful and bitter in general.

Absolutely this. Most people growing up in the 90's and early 2000's were the pioneers of a new age as the internet really came into being. It was filled with fucking wonder and amazement and it felt like it was all ours. Things were fresh and memes were goofy and still something new. Nowadays there's just an overwhelming feeling of cynicism and irony.

drum 3/4 progression with snares building up
drops are all record scatches and hanoi guitar.

I was on there from 2008 to 2011. Knowing what I posted when I was like 13 years old and onward, it was very fucking cringy, and I wish I could set the site on fire because of it.

i was like 2k gold away from getting an ancient katana when it suddenly jumped to over 100k
i literally -just- logged into my old account to see how it's going and i get this though

Now I see all my opld friends haven't logged on in years, same with my guild, Lanzer's profile isn't filled with porn
it's just not the same

Attached: KaJIqqZ.png (290x297, 18K)

>AOL chatrooms
>paranormal and conspiracies at 2AM

Discord and these IRC clients just aren't the same.

Attached: 1506317591784.jpg (900x1023, 112K)

Yep. 2005 here.

I wish every day for the opposite, it would be a blessing for the english speaking internet if this site faded from relevancy or even died.

In 2008. yes. Some huge retard in Chatterbox substituted literally every 'b' in his posts with 'Yea Forums.' I asked him why he was doing that and from the barrage of out-of-context memes he spewed at me, I somehow managed to pick out the word 'Yea Forums.' "Chan?" I thought. "Like the Naruto word?"
I googled it, ended up on Yea Forums, immediately saw that one .gif of the Iraqi getting beheaded by a chainsaw, and didn't come back for a few weeks.

>I blame memes and cringe culture, we should have let kids be kids and do cringey shit without young adults shitting on them.

I think there's something to that as well.
You can't do or post anything embarrassing as a child anymore because of not just "cringe culture", because no matter what you do it'll never go away.
There's a permanence to everything you do online and people have proven to be determined enough to look back and find every single embarrassing or shameful thing or moment you've had growing up to shame and dehumanize you as an adult.

But you need to be fucked up as a kid in order to figure out what's right and wrong- you can't just be 'told', you have to experience some fuck ups or it doesn't really sit right with you and fucking up as a child is the best atmosphere to do it.. Or it was: now any fucking asshole with a phone can video tape you roleplaying irl and then the next thing you know you're 32 years old and people find out you're that kid who screamed he had God and Anime on his side back in 2017.

That retard forgot about rules 1 and 2.

i saw a thread like that in chatterbox as well. i went to Yea Forums and read some awful story about a guy covering himself in pubes and running through a scientologist church.

I was a Floodian hehe

You just know half the females are actually males and two of those dudes are pedophiles.

half is being generous

mIRC is Boomer tier though

what happened? I have a 10 yo account over there.

Too bad newfags and their post ironic copy pasted memes are trash. I dont think I ever saw a good OC on this boars after 2012 or so

Me, in 2006. Yea Forums used to get posted in the GD all the time.

People on CB loved to brag about how much edgier Yea Forums was compared to Gaia, and how they were very cool for coming all the way from Yea Forums just to post about Yea Forums on Gaia.

Yeah, all of this sucks. It's very depressing to think that your online presence (and even offline) can be completed defined by some goofy video a friend shot off their phone of you when you were in a teen. I think the most "out of touch old man complains about the kids of today" opinion I have is how thankful I am to have missed out on social media performance culture.

I didn't even know what gaia was. I just randomly discovered this place while looking for pictures of something. Can't remember what.

i came here from some faggot on xbox live telling me about it back in middle school around 2013 / 2014

Attached: 1419059362257.png (670x869, 30K)

I don't see you making any

The new way to achieve epic win isn't through jokes or cleverness but bilious shouting matches where you repeat bad brief memery and make the cruelest possible character attack. It's all the fault of idpol & derision-obsessed cringe culture. Half the shitposting on this fucking video game board is that

Who remembers when someone discovered you could post .swfs in the interactive chats (the towns and parking garages)?

That's how real niggas discovered Yea Forums, through /f/

I came here through VG Cats' forums before the author threw a temper tantrum and deleted it when fans kept criticizing his shitty update schedule. They had a Yea Forums repost thread of gifs and amusing photoshops.

Attached: 1387679340501.png (713x443, 44K)

desu if you didn't come here from &Totse you are big baby newfag and still shouldn't be posting!
