It's just another fucking lame, weak entry in a series that hasn't had a properly good continuation in over a fucking decade, only now it's even worse because it included shit from PPQ.

I already did today, I'm slowly getting there. I've been getting 5-6 chains more consistently so that's something, but I have to work more on what to do with Puyo that I'm not sure where to put and tailing in general.

I started with PPT and PPC, but I feel you in that I'd love to play a new mainline PP game with a proper story mode, I didn't need to play older entries to see that PPT was shallow as fuck in that aspect and PPC doesn't have one at all, I do want to get around playing older ones though in the future.

I've played several Puyo games along the series. Even if I don't agree with the overall thing that started to happen since "that one 3DS game", Puyo Tetris and Puyo Quest, Champions is at least something, even if people might not agree with it. I know it's missing spell animations and I could easily tell it wasn't the full experience compared to getting Fever and other games, but for 10€, that's understandable. Although we, as a fanbase, need to let Sega know that this isn't the only experience we all want, but the previa experiences that have also gone untranslated or proper sequels. The thing is, if we don't show the series some support, it will also probably go back to unlocalization hell as well.

Chronicles isn't the problem. In fact, even if I hate Chronicles for the artstyle and the continued jacking off over Compile characters, I actually admire Chronicles for the attempt to do something new with the full RPG mode and everything. Puyo's current problems started with 7.

Jesus, I even forgot I played that thing. Yeah, I think I remember having some crazy ass transformations, making Puyo smaller or larger. Didn't even know what that was for. But now that I remember, I never really was okay with 7 for some reason.

I'm not very hyped over the character excess either. Although I don't know the Puyo Quest characters that well (that shit's in jap, yo), they at least sort of okay and reminiscing of the older classic Puyo games lore-wise, but in a more fashionable/pop-modern look. But I heavily miss the Fever cast as well (Oshare Bones, fucking hell).

Puyo's 7's gimmick was "Transformation", which either made your Puyo really big or really small. It was basically just "fever mode but you can't actually die while using it", which made matches drag on for ages.
Puyo 7 also brought in the new art/design team that's been working with the series since.

Biggest of all crimes. One thing I also enjoyed, even if controversial opinion, was Arle's raspy voice in the original Fever dub. I enjoyed her spells so fucking much with the "Ice stooorm~" Now both Arle and Amitie sound the same. I really wonder where that VA went.

I unironically think Raffine's VA fit her fairly well. Rider's was really good too, especially for a western loli voice.

The biggest problems with the original Fever dub were the weird errors (Rider/Rita) and Ocean Prince. Somehow, though, the translation was still more accurate than the PPT dub.

Was it? I remember hearing they messed up the scene with Raffine and Accord pretty badly.

I'm mostly referring to the spell lines, namely how PPT removed Raffine's French, Klug's Latin, etc.

I'm a brainlet. Can't get into many set ups, doesn't matter how many times I watch those tutorial videos on youtube I simply don't get it, GTR for example is still a mistery to me.

And everything falls apart the exact moment that just one (1) garbage Puyo enters my screen. Why? Did any of you suffered this? Are you guys just naturals or do you make your way in this game through autistic hard work?

Japanese Switch version has it, not sure how fleshed out it is. I know that it has some challenge modes from the little I've seen.
