Nicalis removed Treasure's logo from the box of the physical release of Ikaruga

Nicalis stole the rights of that arcade game from the developer and then never released the game. The guy behind it went on to make The Takeover, which I heard was pretty good.

Why do so many pure scum publishers exist nowadays?

Nicalis is the only one I know of, they've existed for a while, the cave story stuff happened nearly a decade ago.

Did the initial render have it? Since this isn’t exactly new for Ikaruga if you played the GC version.

I do agree that Treasure ought to have their name on the front just like the original release, though.

Nintendo doesn't allow it. Nintendo asks for only the publisher to appear on the cover and spine of Switch games. Sony does allow it, but they probably just want the same cover for both games.

Treasure still appears on the back of the box. Nicalis has done crappy stuff in the past (ittle dew 2+ devs can attest to that) but this isn't it. People are just looking for controversy now

I still haven't made it to the last level of Ikaruga I don't think, the sheer amount of precision you need on level 4 just makes me mad.

Didn't Capcom once remove the entire pre rendered credits from Okami to get rid of the Clover logo when they ported it to Wii and I assume the HD versions too?

The reason there's so many is the same reason they do things like this: money.

Afterbirth and afterbirth+ where both pretty meh, especially + which added a lot of lazy and annoying content to the game that argueably makes the entire experience worse (and that is outside of all the bugs and horrible design decisions they patched out later).
One of it's major features, the modding tools, where extremely barebones, hard to use and limited likely because of the dlc being rushed and a lot of modders got turned off completely by the tools being so fucking trash.
Afterbirth wasn't that bad but it still had some questionable design decisions, greed mode itself isn't all that well designed and doesn't really have any risk reward systems like the name would imply.

The fact that the next dlc is taking so long makes it seem that the antibirth guys are actually trying to make the dlc good instead of rushing it out asap like Nicalis did with AB+.

I like Nicalis. Their physical releases are Kino with reversible cover arts and usually come with goodies like soundtracks and manuals and keychains :)

I have lots of Nicalis games for my Nintendo Switch

I think it's pretty rare for the developer to be advertised in Japan unless it's the same as the publisher

I steal the 1st print goodies from Nicalis releases from gamestop's open "new" copies so they never sell, then buy the game later second hand so Nicalis never gets my money.

Now they are making some of the bonuses exclusive to their website like the Umihara Kawase outer box but I'll figure something out
