you draw the thirteenth, then instead of declaring tsumo for a mere piddly yakuman, you discard the paired up orphan you have, making you need a 13-sided wait for a pair of one of your orphans
since you've discarded one of the tiles of your wait, you're in furiten for that entire wait
oh, and if you draw one of the orphans now, you'll get a DOUBLE MOTHERFUCKING YAKUMAN TSUMO

it's very noob friendly, it has features like scrolling through your tiles highlights similar ones on the board, allowing you to quickly detect if it's safe to discard, pointless to keep, etc.

Use any userscript manager (like tampermonkey)

This script adds numpad hotkeys for emotes and also decreases the timer a bit so you can use them back to back. 1-9 for normal emotes and 0, del, enter for bond emotes.

Now for the fun part, if you type "partyhard" (without the quotes) you'll unlock EMOTE SPAMMING MODE which completely removes the cooldown timer for emotes. Unfortunately for anyone without the script, emotes may flicker due to a set asynchronous timer that stops the emote after 3.5 seconds, but anyone using the script will have that limiter removed and emotes can be spammed as much as you want while still looking good.

Disclaimer: I haven't actually tested this shit outside of bot games so it might not work at all (but it should)

There is, but only for open kans.
Unless you're in kokushi tenpai, some rules allow ronning a kokushi off a closed kan.

if the kan is open, you can steal it. also for 13 orphans, if your winning tile gets closed kan'd you can steal it

My friend, focus on these things for now:
-Tanyao. Using all simples 2- 8 and not having a single honor or terminals.
-Yakuhai. A triplet of any of the dragons, seat wind (The E,S,W,N that matches your seat), or prevalent wind (The current round wind, usually East and South)
-Don't worry about keeping your hand open or closed. It's far too early for you to be thinking of that.
Just focus on those things up there and you'll eventually get better and better and more confident on how the game works.

By understanding hands and how sequences works.
For example, if they're discarding everything except Pin tiles, they're probably fucking waiting on a pin or honor tile.
If they discard a 2 man, they're most likely not waiting on a 1 man, since the meld of 1 - 2 - 3 would put him in furiten.If they have only been discarding honors and terminals, they're probably waiting on a simple tile. Conversely, if they have a large amount of simple tiles, they're probably waiting on an honor or terminal;.

Just make sure to go for super quick hands when you're dealer. Bronze east is a joke and the only excuse for losing is someone getting way luckier than you

if you're the winner, i wouldn't get cocky. you got fed a clearly unsafe wind by the leader going for a full flush or all terminals or something instead of folding with only 8 discards left.

It was a Nine Gates into a full flush. I really would have liked a few more seconds to think about my waits, I ended up isshanten at 10 discards left when I could have been in tenpai at like 20 discards left. But in the end I should just have folded, I kind of lost interest and went on autopilot after the fourth 9p was discarded. Even if I'd folded, it's not like 2nd would have been a bad placing.

The 3-way riichi was hilarious because I folded after the first one and then my very next draw would have put me in tenpai if I hadn't, so I could have forced a repeat.
