Nah, not really. to be fair I skipped nearly every scene with Akechi in it (every Sae scene and most Metro ones). So I barely know anything what he said besides "PT bad".

Eh, I kind of liked it. I just didn't like that it was only a twist because you happened to forget it during the interrogation due to the drugs they gave you.
It does take you by surprise at least.

Anyone else feel like the game would have been better if it ended with Shido’s palace? Didn’t feel like any of the mementos stuff was super necessary.

Kasumi's current card only goes to rank 5 so it'll probably be replaced when she becomes a party member or switch to a different arcana.

If Sae isn’t romanceable there is no point in buying Royal.

Kasumi could end up being 10x worse than Marie. Marie just existed inside a bubble for the bulk of the base game while P5R will start making story alterations post Okumura to include Kasumi. It even looks like Kasumi might fuck up the PTs plan by trying to save Joker at the end of the casino.

Sae might get some new stuff simply because there seems to have been a fair amount of cut content on disc related to her. The lunch system is coming back in P5R and that stuff was acutally cut content that you can find in the base game's data.

He seemed like the prime candidate, but I was still entertaining other options. Morgana's weird dreams still hadn't been explained, and Haru had been given almost no screentime and had a motive because of how her dad died - so while Akechi was the obvious pick I wouldn't say I felt certain about it.

I agree, but this is the only MegaTen game I've played every proper fan I've spoken to insists that killing god (or something to that effect) as the final boss is absolutely mandatory in the series.

Would have done more for me though if they'd kept it about personal character drama and relatively low-key supernatural stuff.

iunno, haven't played P5 and prolly never will, but Akechi and Yusuke is more entertaining in Q2 than literally any of the other P5 and P4 characters barring kanji

that's why I partially withhold my criticism, because I'm aware the fans of the series prefer it that way. All I said is that it'd be more to my taste if the game had stuck with what it had been doing for the first 75 hours. I still liked it, and I'll get Royal next year.

i'd say this is the type of game you would definitely want to play more than once. play it now, get it again later for that second + playthrough.

i think it's the best game ever made. i really do. and royal is going to improve so much its insane how much better the game will be.

Megaten games are always about the greater effects of belief in society. The minor villains, and even major ones, prey on collective belief. Everything in P5 is mostly critique of Japanese society and Yaldabaoth largely reflects that as well.
Even then the only time the game was actually playing in a minor supernatural state was the first dungeon. Everything else was stuck in Japanese cultural, financial, and government institutions. You were practically fighting god the second you hit the yakuza.
