There's a huge difference though. Rayman 2 came out only a year after Banjo Kazooie. So the people most nostalgic for Rayman missed their opportunity. When the next Smash comes out, they're not going to have the same energy as before. And new supporters will barely remember the N64, since they all grew up on the gamecube.
The next "Banjo", will be someone from the gamecube generation. Leon from RE4. Viewtiful Joe. Lloyd from Tales. Krystal from Starfox Adventures. Something along those lines.

This is sadly the big obstacle for Rayman, It's a shame really, since I felt he deserved it more than Banjo due to not being a one console wonder, selling 4 times as many games as Banjo (even when you remove any and all rabbid games).
