me not care about holy things me care about hit thing with big sword

But I do OP. Paladins are my favorite class

Paladino never gets the justice it deserves. I wanted to play palidin in dragons nest, maplestory, and tree of savior, but its subpar in all of them. Even from a gameplay standpoint, especially in dragons nest.

Too busy being a powerful wizard with no sense of right or wrong.

I play a paladin in every games I can because I wish I could believe in real life and get a trad christian girl to have 2.5 kids with

Can I have a diaper fetish and be a paladin

Attached: 1549091620372.jpg (1200x1422, 336K)

There's not much to explain, real chads know druids are objectively better.

Attached: druidfull.jpg (626x900, 96K)

What's a paladin?

Barbarians are fun to play as too

What are some essential Paladin core games? Oblivion was great just to mess around in, but what really makes you feel like a user of the light? I already played Dragons Dogma

I'm curious coward. Do the Druids actually procreate with the animals they live with?

Gothic 2, you even get your own paladin guild and shit

How based and light pilled can I be?

boring

No, they just fuck 'em

I'm already a loser in real life.

lawful good is a boring alignment

why are druid players always smelly 420s

Fighters are just better. Paladins are a gimmick class that's good when fighting a specific enemy (evil creatures) but is ass against everything else. Fighters, on the other hand, are good against everything.

Games where you can play as a paladin that ARENT isometric RPGs or MMOs? There are alot of RPGs and sword fight games, but there are not many that come to mind that actually let you play as a paladin, its always just a sword fight guy that can do magic missle.

That's not a fighter, that's a Slayer.

Attached: 1544548354693.jpg (640x559, 43K)

I like to see when paladins are basically the class that relies on buffs and support, while the fighter relies more on skills.

>Fighters, on the other hand, are good against everything.
>"Hold Monster"

>Fighters are just better. Paladins are a gimmick class
Paladins are Chad fighters. Literally fighters who had high enough charisma to qualify to become a Chadladin.

Is there a single game where it feels good to play a paladin? I've yet to find one; they're always weak or just exist to buff others.

This, but I just don't like magic. I'm more of a warrior/knight guy, heavy armor, big shield, big sword, tank my way through everything, no need for magic, capes or fancy tabards.

but i do, even in D&D

smiting evil just feels so good

Pretty much just MMOs at this point, and even then its still a buff bot. I actually liked how the "paladin" class played in that Neverwinter MMO, you could actually create a bubble around you for allies allowing them to be protected whenever you just blocked, so you could walk around with your shield up creating a barrier for your allies.

I always try to play as an undead in every game I can

I love being a paladin in games, but im also often disappointed with their offensive abilities. Like im filled with tons of holy power, why cant I sword beam a nigga?

I always figured people mostly knew that the crusades were dumb as fuck and the the whole deus vult thing was just people pretending to be idiots. I guess descartes was right.

Only if they’re level 7 or higher, the semen doesn’t take in human form.

>Paladin? No thanks. My class of choice is Blackguard, lawful evil.

I'm not religious

Those are templars tho, huge difference.

Jokes aside, I am totally aware of how the crusades fucked a lot of shit up

You can have high charisma without being some god's errand boy.

I want to fucking kill myself help.

I'd use it if more games had the option to + had shields not be boring as fuck.

Fighters aren't monsters. So you'd need Hold Person. And yeah, high level mages fuck everyone up. I meant that Fighters are better against monsters and other warriors than Paladins.

>he uses game paladins to try and validate his real life choices
Sorry, I'm not a sad pathetic fag

I play Wizard because morality is a spook but unlimited power isn't.

Its becoming more and more common that paladins are getting divorced from needing a godly patron to be a chad, which i am forever thankful for

Don't kill your self-help, it's the only thing stopping you from killing yourself.

Pathfinder Kingmaker. You can also go full Dredd on motherfuckers.

This is probably the stupidest forced meme on Yea Forums currently

My guy

Bonus points if they let you do 2h paladin with a phat sword

added to my list

>Sorry, I'm not a sad pathetic fag
Yes you are. Look where you are and consider the choices in life that lead you here.

>doesnt know that hold monster is the higher level catch all version of hold person
Way to expose yourself newfag.

roleplaying loyal good gets boring after a while, particularly since most crpg give a lot of leniency about it too

>loyal
fuck, *lawful

>+ had shields not be boring as fuck.
Mah nigga

>not having you and your bro play each class and stomping on the undead

You are dumb because you are oversimplifying things.
Also Descartes worked under the assumption that God exists because he was dumb, maybe that's why you like him.

Playing a Paladin
>Auto Attack
>Cast Healing spell when low on health
>MAYBE use a Smite Evil style attack a couple time per battle on whomever

Playing Wizard
>Cast AoE CC on groups of dangerous bruisers
>Cast AoE damage on dangerous backliners
>Cast traps spells on choke points
>Cast buffs on party
>Cast defensive spells on party members in danger
>Dispel enemy spells
>Cast Summons to control an extra character the plays with roughly the complexity of a Paladin
>etc.

Which game has the best Paladins? (in terms of fun)
Which game has the most OP Paladins?

[spoiler/] I always played as a rogue in rpg's until I played Dark Souls which got me into paladins. I really want to replay Skyrim again as a paladin but I hate the spellcasting system when youre using a weapon[/spoiler]

Name one game where paladins are a top tier choice and not absolute fucking cucks.

>I always played as a rogue
>can't hide his text in shadow

You are quite possibly the worst Rogue I have ever seen.

I've always preferred the idea that paladins just need to follow a set of tenants or rules religiously, not actually be religious

Female Paladin

Gothic 2

>hey guys i only played wow

Oh, fuck.

is for anal!

Agrias was too good for the game she was in. There is nothing more patrician than a duo of Healer and Knight.

>playing the same thing in every game you play
That's fucking stupid and I actually like paladins, probably more than your with your epic le deus vult larp bandwagon.

My party is a bunch of godless dorks who wanted to maximize damage. Whenever anything so much as breaths at them they get blown the fuck out

I think I'm literally the only character above 14 AC.

>always play kind wayfarer paladin in PoE
>new years eve 2018, pull into gas station to fill up on the way to party
>on the way out, notice dude standing outside his car with the hood popped
>try to ignore him at first but feel the overwhelming compulsion to turn around and offer my help
>guy literally says "i cant believe it" as I park next to him and ask if he needs help
>help him get his car started, he thanks me with a hearty handshake and a sincere happy new year
>realize i was literally a kind wayfarer as I drive to my destination
I didnt choose the paladin life, it chose me

>not playing a wizard at all times
Your only excuse is if the game has a shit tier magic system.

that's no fun, without the religion part it's just a holy element magic fighter

I hope you at least keep the whole "must destroy all evil and purge demons and undead" thing, otherwise what's the point?

lawful is pretty much loyal

gimped melee character with shitty healing and support spells for companions with braindead ai

Depends, if magic is too easy to use and abuse then the magic system is shit and you're always playing some kind of wizard

the aligments are translated to loyal in my native language so sometimes I mix it up in english

>not playing a game of nothing but paladins and heretics

Attached: 16c9e6bc949aaef7b7802897cc5d0daf.jpg (459x493, 49K)

I do, though. What games let you play as a Paladin, Yea Forums?

Theyre never bloody enough and their portrayal is too righteous for me. I want more of a 40k type paladin where he's under the impression that he is a holy righteous being as he's smashing disgusting heretics under his boots, Wow really tarnished the paladin name and now every paladin is just a bible thumper with a sword who can use protective magic and heals

Can someone please make a Virgin rogue v. Chad Paladin?

Attached: 1b0.png (2518x1024, 170K)

I love paladins, they're probably my favorite fantasy class. But the sad fact is in a lot of games they are just weaker fighters. Warlocks and clerics are nice too.

Attached: 1559961177892.jpg (576x1024, 45K)

I try so much in every game, but most of the time the armor aestethics are shit and not immersive at all. But I use light weapons (mace and sword) in every fantasy game I have.

>I hope you at least keep the whole "must destroy all evil and purge demons and undead"
Obviously. The code of conduct for paladins being badass moral exemplars hasnt changed, its just that paladins are so chad with their righteous fervor they are their own source of power now

There are no "Paladins" in 40k, just murderous assholes that are your best choice of survival and murderous assholes that want to flay you alive and wear you as a moron face party mask. The only thing that came close to true heroism in 40k was the Lamenters chapter, the rest don't give a shit about civilian casualties with some exceptions like Salamanders and Space Wolves and would let civilians die or even allow the inquisition to purge them on the mere suspicion of contamination (Months of Shame).

Yeah, cause Paladins weren't basically holy warriors in D&D, right?

FFT's Holy Knight was purely offensive, but she did have some levels and spells as White Mage.

dis girl is equally as good though

Attached: Ravness.png (533x674, 230K)

kek

I'd say if you want to go ironic make a chad Palading vs virgin Battle Cleric, because clerics are so absurdly overpowered these days it's not even fair

You should look up that copy pasta of the rogue who pretended to be a paladin and became an accidental hero

But I do play paladin.

Attached: 1558852460558.jpg (800x1000, 125K)

For all of it's faults I did like Pillars of Eternity's interpretation of paladins as zealous warriors devoted to a specific cause, order, or god.

But I do.

Begone Bucket Head, I have powerful alchemical rituals to accomplish and I don't need your interference. Make haste at once, lest I turn thee into a mare in heat and toss you into the stables once more.

Attached: 1552107328530.jpg (1200x1738, 673K)

I've lost all my faith.

Mages rise up!

I remember Neverwinter Nights (not sure) having a Sorcerer to Wizard version for Paladin called chosen soul or something, sounded pretty much like that, a paladin without a god, instead having a destiny to fullfill

Paladins, always remember this. This is what will set you apart from the others.

Attached: ph.png (267x106, 7K)

Unironically retail wow paladin is very well done. Too bad the game itself is shit.

Divine Soul?
That's Sorc to Cleric and let's the cleric operate the spells the same way a sorc does

>finished every single NWN campaign on the same paladin/sorcerer character that was good, but occasionally a bit of a smartass
Great experience.

You're thinking of the Favored Soul, which is a version of the Cleric with a Sorc's spell casting.

I will agree that paladin toolkits often lack smiting/offensive powers in favor of buffs and heals these days

>and toss you into the stables once more.
>not into the barracks

*Favoured Soul
Divine Soul IS a sorcerer

oh yes that, I stand corrected

Because Druids are reserved for aging hippies and gaia-worshipping types

Tell me what are some of the best games to play Paladin

Attached: Paladin CYOA.jpg (2400x2400, 887K)

Spellsword.

>replayed both BG recently for the first time since like 2005
>'come on, I'm not going paladin this time'
For the glory of Helm.

What did we ever do to you?

Attached: Sandro.jpg (415x354, 51K)

Or any D&D game. Or PoE. Or Pathfinder. Or Morrowind...

Mad lad

How the fuck do you do a TES Paladin? You get some powers from deities but spells aren't really tied to them at all.

But i do

Messing with the dead isn't cool. Don't make me spend a Turn Undead charge bone boy

Sandro really swag himself up through the series.

I'm more of a cleric guy. Paladins aren't allowed to do morally grey stuff and it's a heavy limitation I find.

>redemption, exorcism, holy tome, frigate, shaman, bound, crusaders, bound
>Lead a band of the misfits and become the champion of the downtrodden, redeeming all sorts of people and supernatural creatures and showing them that a different way of life exists by example, not just by killing those that are miserable and damning the few to save the many, culminating in taking in a powerful eldritch being within my own body to convince it that there is more to being than just satiation of personal desires

On the same kinda topic, what games can I play as a power-hungry, morally bankrupt mage?
I think Dragon Age Origins is the only one that did this well

Well, you can, you just understand there are consequences. Then you can have a fun adventure performing your atonement, while being depowered. Big limitation is that video games never bother with implementing this part of the class in.

Planescape Torment. You can do awful, awful things in that game.

This looks neat i'll lay out my choices
>Redemption
>Lay On Hands, Protection, Divine Might
>Holy Avenger (Carsomyr my baby)
>Shield
>Griffin Egg
>Sanctuary
>Dire Wolf
>Death Knight
>Arch Paladin (Smiting)

Crusader. Defensive skills and Restoration/Destruction.

1 or 2? 1 theyre purely a support class with the best heals in the game. 2 theyre probably the best class to multiclass

>best class to multiclass with
speaking of which what are they good multi'd to for sustain damage
I was thinking about going pure paladin but wizard sounds neat in order to summon weapons. I love how citzal's lance looks

I normally like rogues because they either offer utility like picking locks, disarming traps, being a smooth talker to get more money, or do cool burst.

Nice try GM, can't make my cleric fall like them fragile paladin boyos.

More of a wizard man myself

Morrowind, just sign up with the Telvanni.

>not being closer to God by playing a priest

on the topic of paladins why did alignment get blown to extreme proportions
I don't think it was ever meant to be *that* deep as people make it out to be

Attached: Alignment_Demotivational.jpg (500x400, 31K)

The first three Crusades were totally justified, especially the First, the Siege of Baghdad didnt stop Muslim expansion, it only delayed it and was actually stopped at the Siege of Vienna, Charlemagne did nothing wrong, cry more about the Saxons who performed human sacrifice.
Keep on LARPing that having Europe be a balkanized amalgamation of Germanic religions and the absolute shitshow horrorfest that was the late Roman pantheon, with absolutely none of the monastic infrastructure that would preserve and advance technology during the post-Rome collapse and the Medieval era, is a good idea

I'm playing a dwarf paladin in PoE2 right now, about 8 hours in, I don't know what the fuck I'm doing. I'm dual weilding a fine sword and a fine sabre and it's ok but i feel so disconnected, like my character doesn't do anything important, feels like everything important done by the mage and the priest and eder the tank of course.

Anybody got a fun pure paladin build? I think I can respec.

Attached: midge.jpg (1920x1080, 510K)

pure paladins serve as THE alpha striker and fuck one nigga up really good at the start of the battle and then resort to off-taking with the main tank

That ain't me
Evil beware, Chatic "Good" beware

>there are still byzanboos in this day and age
Reading actual history made me dislike the empire post 1150 with such passion. The masses of the population didn't deserve centuries of Turkish rule but the crusaders dindu nuffin. The imperial bureaucracy could have fucking payed the denbts instead of financing their decadent lifestyle and not antagonize his allies at every single step.

Herald(pal/chanter) is ridiculous when you get the damage chants on the chanter end. Im also very partial towards votary(pal/monk) and fanatic(pal/barb). In the end, paladin sustain is always going to be good because you can always have a marked target up for +20% damage on whoever you choose

Malazan had some pretty cool fucking wizards. Totally stole the enchanted acorn thing off Quick Ben.

>Herald
Hmmmm
Perhaps. Perhaps. My very first character I beat poe1 with was a Chanter so it could be nice revisting the roots

Alright, is there anyway to speed up attacks? Like a haste spell of sorts? He attacks very slowly, might have fucked up by getting such low dex, I thought the +10 accuracy attack was a passive but it takes up zeal.

Attached: holymidge.jpg (1920x1080, 556K)

>tried listening to the Malazan series audiobook

Got lost around deadhouse gate, had no clue what was happening

Pure paladin is unfortunately really bad compared to pure anything else in that game. Paladin is so front loaded that it will always be bettet to multiclass them for both utility and optimization

>not being a Thief with max LCK

Attached: 03127.gif (650x800, 117K)

You should look up how recovery speed works in that game. With dex that low, you're going to need to be in light armor or just straight up clothing to attack at a decent speed

No one even mentioned the crusades my poor oppressed jihadi friend

It's me, the shill for this module again
neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/paladin-twilight-and-midnight
The best paladin campaign you'll ever play, has new new abilities for paladins such as an aura that instakills low level mooks out of sheer holiness. Also the most fun module if you like hack and slash

Druids are just spergy country bumpkins

Herald is pretty nuts in PoE2 if it helps. The sheer variety of chants and invocations you have coupled with the subclass choices to let you tailor between invoking or chanting lets them do literally any role now

I'm too much of an edge-lord so I prefer playing anti-paladins if the game has such a class option. Not many do.

Attached: DMG35_PG182_WEB1.jpg (400x552, 38K)

Yeah, been feeling like i fucked up the character but it's alright, guess I'll try to respec into more of a support role then. I'll just try to get through the game quickly, might hire a druid since it was the most fun when I played PoE1.

Light is useless because the enemy has resistance to everything. Undead also aren’t the biggest threat.

I don't even know any besides blackguard in baldur's gate
I always considered jedi to be paladins and sith to be anti-paladins though

Name ONE Paladin fall in any media, that isn't total bullshit.
Easy modo: name 1 (one) fall that isn't either
-oh no I was mind controlled and killed everyone!
-oh no the bad guy is forcing me to have him either kill a baby or nuke a town, so it's my fault!

There's also the dark knight class in some Final Fantasy games and the Shadow Knight class from Everquest. I'm sure there are a few more but those come to mind.

I'm heterosexual.

Yeah completely forgot about the Death Knight. It's a shame it wasn't in vanilla wow.

No, they're being led on by streamers playing ret

That's only if you're a raidcuck, the real chads oneshot hordeniggers with reckoning and get pvp gear and there's nothing anyone can do about that.

>Name ONE Paladin fall in any media, that isn't total bullshit.
you can't. Especially since DMs are all fucking edgelords that always force a situation where the Paladin is fucked either way

Tarkus in DOW2 Chaos Rising
Loghain in Dragon Age Origins
Ashe/Daimon in Dragon's Dogma

Sword & board? More like sore and bored
AHAHAHAHAH

Make that staff a sceptre

A paladin can start oneshotting people with reckoning since 34, you have no idea what you're talking about. Even a blue geared paladin can do it and when it starts getting into tier 1 or tier 2, which are welfare epics that are guaranteed a paladin will become even more deadly.

But I do OP or a knight if a paladin is not available.

Wow no one cares. Ret paladins have shit scaling at 60 just like Hunters.

You don't even understand what I'm talking about yet you continue to argue. Reckoning builds are not ret and Hunters have excellent scaling.

In ffxiv the paladino it’s pretty neat

>reckoning is still a meme one trick pony spec
It's a completely valid pvp spec that will always be good in premades, world pvp and is an excellent dueling spec too. You will be critted by players and paladins are unkiteable due to cleans and BoF. Comparing a spec that relies on activation of a five minute cooldown to a spec whose passive benefit is always active and produces ludicrous bursts if damage is rather disingenuous. People have re-theorycrafted everything, hunters never stop scaling because all you need to do is stack agility and stamina.

>heavy armor, defensive buffs and holy spells

literally the gayest loadout possible

I can rarely find a paladin that's fun to play

>paladins are unkiteable
Ah ok you're just baiting

>has no argument and resorts to buzzwords after being called out
I take it you concede then.

Not him, but you have no argument either.

No point arguing with retards. BoF has a CD and not all slowdowns can be cleansed, not to mention using cleanse a lot is a nice way to go oom fast. Paladins are objectively not "unkiteable".

Sorry, but i'm too busy reviving the dead and building an undead army istead of worshiping some random god. Also, necromancers are further proof of the Chad Mage's superiority

Attached: necromancer.jpg (443x701, 45K)

Mmm you gotta stay clear of paladins and clerics though because once they're powerful enough they can just stand in the presence of your skellings to outright destroy them

>BoF has a CD
4 seconds talented. The only player used slow they cannot cleanse is hamstring.
>using cleanse a lot is a nice way to go oom fast
It costs 170 mana. Paladins can also use resistance auras for appropriate elements when dealing with mages and shamans. The only retard here is you that goes around spouting stupid shit and gets very defensive when called out on not understanding what he's talking about.

pet classes are kinda boring in practice

Unless they have no limits on the amount of summons you can have at a time

but as a paladin you can hit thing with big holy sword.

makes for a nice spectacle but just having your minions zerg enemies while you jerk off in the back gets pretty dull

Baldur's Gate, of course.

Try Path of Exile minion masters, they can do a lot of amazing things with spectre summoning and modifying the abilities of the revived monsters with support gems. Giving them longer and faster projectiles, increasing their range, durations, making them chain between enemies, increasing or decreasing the area of effect of their abilities, giving them all the bonuses from your shield, there's entire branches dedicated to spectre damage theorycrafting.

This

GW1 Ritualist and Necromancer beg to differ.

Paladin is my favorite class overall but sometimes I want to be evil

Both Neverwinter Nights have the Blackguard prestige class.

A good pet class has lots of supports skills to keep them occupied. Look at the Cabalist pet build in Grim Dawn, it's almost certainly the highest APM build in the entire game.

Aribeth's fall in Neverwinter Nights. The whole city cheered for the death of her lover, even though he was obviously innocent.

I prefer to play werewolves you see. So usually the closest thing that comes close to opportunity to play as a werewolf would be a druid with shapeshifting ability in most of the cases but there is WOW which I also play and it has my favourite race worgen. I would absolutely love to play as Paladin and make it my main but unfortunately Blizzard didn't give them such option. A real tragedy if you ask me.
I want to play as a werewolf bringing the power of Moon Light upon his enemies.
Would've been very cool

>not being a greatsword-using paladin

It's like you don't even want to smite evil. Carsomyr was the best weapon in BG2 exactly because it was a huge, overpowered fuck off sword that let you dab on evil creatures and mages.

>4 seconds talented
Yes, that's still a CD.
>It costs 170 mana
That's still a lot if you need to spam it together with BoF.
You're the retard throwing a bitch fit because someone called you out on your bullshit.

Yiff in hell, furfag

>even though he was obviously innocent.
Except that he wasn't. He was executing for being a fucking idiot that nearly killed the entire city and ignored his responsibilities. No one ever blamed him of doing it intentionally.

druids are the niggers of fantasy

I will make you choke on my Holy knot fag

I wouldn't say he was "obviously innocent". He was negligent in his duty to properly screen the priests he brought in to fight the plague, and he ignored all the evidence you brought him of shit being weird until it piled up and exploded in his face.

>no u
>4 seconds for a warrior and undispellable at all unless you face a shaman or a priest and a priest has no slows beyond mind flay
>170 mana is a lot when you can have four thousand
You need to stop talking now.

That's bullshit. He's hanged as a sacrifice to appease the bloodthirsty mob because Desther's death isn't enough to appease them.

Minion bomber is fun. All the rit builds focused on spirits that I played were pretty meh. I didn’t dislike playing them, I think it’s hard for me to dislike playing Guild Wars no matter how boring my build is, but they didn’t have much to make them exciting or interesting to play.

Sword and shield on a paladin is big gay. Real holy men know that a should and MACE is the way to go.

BETRAYAL

Grim Dawn my nigga

He was an unwitting accomplice but an accomplice nonetheless. He trusted Desther completely and even when Desther began using suspicious or outright questionable means, Fenthick dismissed those as merely being the man's eccentricities.

He was deceived, yes, and he should have been punished, but he was executed purely to appease the people of Neverwinter.

And that's enough to be hanged? That's not justice. He should have been stripped of his rank and exiled or something.

>170 mana
No, I checked and it's always 8% of your mana you fucking retard.
>it's undispellable except for these classes that can dispel it
Epic mental gymnastics. You need to stop being a mouthbreather.

Not saying that his punishment was proportionate, was just arguing he was guilty of negligence.

My Paladin only uses the most divine of weapons, the shotgun.

Attached: Ladd.png (720x400, 272K)

>8% of your mana you fucking retard.
8% of your BASE mana, as in mana pool unaffected by additional int. Which means that its mana cost is always the same at 60.
>all the classes that can dispel it still can do nothing about cleansing any of it
You're not making this any better for yourself.

Fair enough. And that's why I feel Aribeth's fall is somewhat justified. The city she swore to protect called for the blood of her dumbass lover and Lord Nasher caved in.

Paladins are deluded fucking retards

That's because the concept of a paladin is outright OP in every sense if it isn't held back. The chosen warrior of their god, protected by their god, given powers by their god and able to serve as a vessel for the powers of their god. It's a good thing Paladins are good guys because that power could be really dangerous.

Paladins are NEET twigs irl
Warlocks are the best

It's a somewhat more severe punishment than might be necessary, but do you really think that if, say, a nuclear technician gave away a bunch of depleted uranium to a terrorist, because he asked really nicely and said it was for a charity auction, that the technician wouldn't be spending the rest of his life in prison after it was used in a bomb to kill thousands?

It's not that OP in high fantasy settings like D&D or Exalted where even a regular mage can perform seriously broken shit. Besides evil champions and chosen of their gods are an everpresent threat.

In the Unearthed Arcana book for D&D 3.5 there were variant paladin options for the that followed different alignments with their own code of conduct:

>Paladin of Freedom (Chaotic Good)
Code of conduct focused on individual liberty, help those in need, and punish those who threaten personal liberty

>Paladin of Slaughter (Chaotic Evil)
Code of conduct involved disrespecting authority figures that have not proven their physical superiority, refuse to help those in need, sow death & destruction at all opportunities.

>Paladin of Tyranny (Lawful Evil)
Code of conduct involved respecting authority as long as they have the strength to rule over the weak, be disciplined (not engaging in random slaughter, keep firm control of those below your station, etc.), help only those who maintain or improve your status, and punish those who challenge authority - unless the challenger prove more worthy to hold said authority.

warlocks are just fat NEETs

Paladin of slaughter seems retarded as it's just a chaotic evil berserker, but the rest are ok.

World of Warcraft
Vanilla-WotLK ending on Assault on Ice Crown Citadel is the most kino Paladin experience in any game ever. It's fucking great, fighting your way as a human paladin from the lowly northshire monastery and then eventually being part of the assault squadron on Icecrown Citadel and becoming an elite Paladin fighting the exact opposite of what you are.
If you don't like WoW's gameplay then maybe Dragon's Dogma. It has the Mystic Knight class which you can basically build to be exactly a Paladin.

>i-it doesn't count it can be dispelled pvp in vanilla is all about honorabu 1v1 duels
Kys

I always play Paladin (or the closest thing to it) on my first playthrough of a game.

High Health, Defense and Attack in exchange for Speed... how can other classes compete?

>Inb4 All Paladins are Lawful-Good religious White Knight Faggots
People seem to forget that Paladins serve gods and that there are many evil gods in most fantasy settings

Thing is, Desther fooled everyone, not just him.

Your back must be seriously hurting if you had to move this goalpost that far.

>computer died right before latest expansion released

I was part way through Ashes of Malmouth, getting back into the groove of things, preparing for it to drop. It’s not fair, Yea Forumsros. Now I’m playing mobile gacha and self playing WoW clones.

You're the one who moved the goal posts considering we were talking about world PvP and BGs.

Yes, but even tabletop RPGs hold Paladins back. They are literally the embodiment of divine righteousness. Cosmic justice turned flesh. The rules need to make it so they aren't OP, because otherwise a paladin would shrug off anything and everything any mortal foe would throw at them and could only be challenged by other deities.

I'm trying to play a paladin in Pillars of Eternity 2 and I picked the order that's all about justice for broken agreements or whatever and worships the justice goddess.
I'm having trouble because I'm trying to conform to my order's preferred personality traits 'cruel and rational' and I keep trying to do cruel shit but it just ends up being 'violent' instead.

Ahh... HoMM3...
I still play it to this day.

When will an actually good mod come out? None capture the feel of vanilla HoMM3.

Cove is a shitty attempt at squeezing Pirates into the game.
Forge doesnt fit into the medieval setting because of its futuristic armies.
All other town mods seem to forget that the towns must have completely different themes from eachother.

Too many games make paladins a shitty hybrid class.

WoW fucking raped the Paladin class.

>Pillars of Eternity 2

Paladins are cool in theory but never that fun in practice. I'm more of a Berserker chad.

I exclusively play as a bandit (prefeably orc bandit) in every game that allows it

Depends on the setting really.

Oath of the Ancients sure as hell don't

>game tries to make a unique class archetype
>it's just some shit to do with purple crystals for some fucking reason or some gay psychic shit

I usually play a death knight if it's available.

I always want to play an 'evil' class but the game usually railroads you into doing so much good shit that it ruins it. It just feels dumb walking a death knight into a village and doing sidequests and shit idk

Such a rare subclass. I need me more necromancers and death knights. A shame nu-WoW neutered the fuck out of them. They should be ashamed of what they did to the frost spec.

Main heavy 2-handed + magic/sometimes bow secondary, every game.

Unholy is a pretty decent dps and is really good in pvp and Blood is still a top tank in bfa, I'm enjoying it. The only games I've played with it are Divinity OS 2 and WoW I think.
Well WoW explains how they ditched the lich kind and joined the Alliance so they are kind of a "use evil powers and abilities for good" kind of architype which I don't mind.

wrong reason to be a paladin

Why can't japanese games get paladins right?

I like most of their Paladins though, its the West that makes them lame.

Attached: Agrias2.jpg (645x870, 54K)

High level psionic fighter

superficial grasp of the theme. in japan you're a hero if you go to work every day on time; they don't have christian spirit and see paladins as just being warriors with a specialized tool kit to do their job better

the definitive paladin games are all western. ultima. quest for glory. fucking D&D does them better than japan

What games let me be a skeleton/lich other than Might and Magic? I'd rather have a more direct handle on the character than that kind of game provides you with.

>D&D paladins
>acknowledging other deities
>doing it right

>being a sword cuck when you can use the superior hammer, mace, flail
You truly are a heretic.

Attached: 200_large.jpg (627x899, 213K)

i didnt say d&d does it right, just better than japan

They're the most fucking boring type of Paladin I can think of, Lay on Hands, Turn Undead, some shitty smite.

What setting are you thinking of wanks paladins off so hard? Meanwhile, wizards can bend the very fabric of reality using forces older than gods. And again, evil gods have their own champions.

>when fighting a specific enemy (evil creatures
you mean the only enemy
villainous scum

Death Knight in WoW is pretty close, you're a knight that can summon hordes of skeletons and spread plague among enemies if you play unholy. Total War: Warhammer lets you play as either vampires or tomb kings if you get the expansion who's main mechanic is summoning large amounts of undead to do their work for them.

>in japan you're a hero if you go to work every day on time
The popularity of Dragon Quest says otherwise. You're making dumb generalizations.

Those sound promising, thank you.

Warlords Battlecry 3 is an rts with a hero leading the force.
The hero and the faction it leads can be different races, both can be Undead, or just have an Undead Hero leading Dwarves if you want.
Necromancy is its dedicated skill school, you get access to it if you're either the right Class or Race.
Undead get necromancy, then there are a few classes that also get it
Lichelord, Death Knight, Necromancer iirc.

Turning enemies into skeletons and then smashing them to bits with crushing damage is something some enjoy, others like to summon skeletons.

No problem. Death Knight as a whole is really one of the few classes in WoW I find highly enjoyable, and it's nice that they start at level 55. Tomb Kings are pretty broken in TW:W and vampires are hard to win a campaign with because you have to spread vampiric corruption to make settlements livable for them.

Is there a good reason to not allow party experience to be shared in an rpg? When some of your characters are several levels above the others you feel very discouraged to ever bring them into your party. Playing PoE2 and I just got 3 more party members when I arrived to Nekehaka, two of them seem to be associated with the main quest, if I play with them for a while my other companions are going to lag significantly.

Arthas. The only good thing Blizzard ever did.

Why not use like a winged spear, or halberd for your Paladin?

Why play a paladin when I can play the stealthy dex rogue and backstab you till kingdome come?

Attached: a80115478ad1f024f11e348618d1f489.jpg (1000x929, 59K)

And the setting became cringe reddit shit.

This. I hate this shit. It just discourages you from using the characters you want to use because your other party members will lag behind. Forces you to rotate them around every time one gets a level like you're a coach in house-league hockey.

i'm not a fan of the tanky + healer combo. I prefer tanky + cc or tanky + damage. Cool to RP as a religious zealot in some games though

I miss Warhammer Fantasy Battle the most. At least I have Total War and Vermintide to soften the blow.

Oh, nice, never heard of that before.

Personally, I say fuck pre scripted characters, let me make my own characters for my party like Icewind Dale. Putting together different party set ups is much more satisfying

Attached: tumblr_nu8a6rnY1E1u6oeoao1_r1_1280.jpg (914x548, 152K)

Why don't more vidya do this?

Beats me man, all I want is to play as a lawful evil sorcerer with my halforc and dark elf minions

Attached: av21.jpg (600x353, 64K)

Yeah, either you rotate to keep them all aroundthe same power-level or you just stick to the same four dudes for 60 hours. I really don't like that.

You can do that in PoE2, you just hire custom companions up to your level. But I've always liked developing characters stories in rpgs, just kind of a bummer since swapping out strong companions for weaker ones is really bad if you're playing on higher difficulties, guess that's what the custom companions are for, focusing on game mechanics and combat rather than narrative.

I just want a party of Human Paladins and Clerics

So? There's a My Little Pony board as well. All you've done to conflate the two. The fanbases have a huge overlap, mind you.

It was great in Legion, with the class halls and stuff. And TBC-Wotlk because retri finally was viable.

Because those points in FA/CHA are a fucking waste when i could just have more STR

Oh no, two different sites have overlap with each other through a niche hobby, I guess the thing is ruined even though it been a staple of neckbeards long before reddit even existed.

Excuse me, what'd you say?

Attached: 1560234633773m.jpg (1024x724, 55K)

I usually find companion stories in these games to be cringe inducing with their humor and joss whedon esque tv drama or just beta romance simulators. I like stories in these games, but I'd rather have a story that services scenarios for tactical combat scenarios and balanced use of other skills. I'd rather use my imagination to role play

>not doing a neutral party of mercenary fighters, rogues, and bards

Clerics are simply more fun. You get more magic to play with while still smashing your enemies faces in melee.

Attached: crusades.png (1305x888, 878K)

That's fair, so far in PoE2 the combat seems wonky, might be cause I don't have a grasp of it yet, so I've been getting my enjoyment mostly from exploring the world. So far I've only liked Eothas and my boy Eder, but they're both from the first game, fluffy pirate and the southern cunt are particularly annoying. Been thinking of just rushing through the main storyline so I can start over with a custom party on higher difficulty.

How's the boating aspect of it?

Tank and Healer are both boring so combining them is double boring.

That's just the point. No setting portrays what paladins actually are by their own definition of existence, otherwise there would be no other class worth playing.

based real life paladin

So far it's kinda barebones, I'm about 13 hours in and I haven't had a single naval battle. I noticed you can upgrade different aspects of your ship, and buy bigger ships, as well as swap the crew out to different positions and you can manage the rations, which give bonuses to your crew and party based on quality. I've explored a few islands and named them, thats fun. I'm a sucker for prerendered backgrounds so I enjoy walking around the cities. Performance is pretty bad tho, after about an hour the game will get very stuttery for no apparent reason forcing me to restart, despite it only using like 60% of my cpu and like 25% of my graphics card. Loading times are also really bad, takes like 20 seconds to go from the first floor to a second floor of a building, and that's running off a SSD, and there's been a few annoying (not gamebreaking) bugs. Probably should've played Kingmaker instead.

What vidya out there lets me channel my faith through my weapon imbuing it with a divine energy, and also calling down holy bolts of retribution and divine judgement?
