He played a 15 minute demo at Deep Silver's E3 booth.
-> For starters, the game looked awful to him, almost like a prototype or a project made with Unreal Engine 4 (in his own words). - He found the environments to be aesthetically pleasing, but the textures were all blurry, the game's resolution seemed to be quite low (around 720p or so), and he couldn't see very far out. - Moreover, according to him, the voice acting in general felt really off, and the two main characters shown in that demo, Ryo and Shensua, seemed deprived of emotion because of very poor facial expressions and stiff, simplistic animations.
-> Secondly, while the French journalist found the demo's mini-games he tried out to be quite fun, the exploration phase of the demo was tarnished by the voice acting and character animation issues he mentioned. - The animations during battles look slightly better than in the overworld, although they're still rather limited. - Apparently, one can use the ABXY buttons to perform various punches and kicks, and certain combos can lead to different QTE's to unleash special attacks. This gives players more freedom in how they wanna approach a battle but takes away the flair, the spectacle and the enjoyment of the previous games's battles, according to that French journalist.
-> Lastly, during their discussion after the demo ended, Suzuki apparently told Epyon (the journalist) that his goal with Shenmue III wasn't to try to revolutionize gaming once more like Shemnue 1 did, as he knows it's not possible, but rather follow up on the story begun in 1999.
>as he knows it's not possible When you are a fucking washed up hack it sure isnt

The moment I saw the first trailer I knew it's gonna be shit, low budget Japanese games are janky trash

>present a project to make a sequel of the game "as it would have been at the time" >make a game that is on the same tech level as the old ones, as advertised >people somehow expected a ubisoft game anyway This is why you don't remake those old games, the people who "want" them, don't really want them, they want the idea of the remake and that's it. Shenmue wasn't even good for its time for shit sake.
Jeremiah Reyes
Isn't this game being made under budget? Shenmue 1 and 2 had a larger budget than this and games don't get cheaper to make as time goes on.
Dylan Taylor
Epic Games money is there soften the inevitable crash.
Imagine if Sega loaned them the Dragon Engine with the I.P.
David Brown
I see...
Charles Barnes
I'm glad Ebin fell for the Shenmue meme. Got all sorts of bad press for a meme game everyone pretends to like because it's a part of "gaming history" but no one has actually bought or played.
Alexander Gonzalez
>jeuxvideo.com The game might be shit, but JVC is more cancerous than fucking IGN, and I'm not even being ironic or anything.
Anthony Baker
now give me the real translation, jeanne
Christian Morgan
Valve lets shit games get onto Steam all the time and no one cares
Jordan Collins
>or a project made with Unreal Engine 4 (in his own words). This is where I stopped reading. The guy is a retard
Kevin Sanders
Great, what I'm expecting. It's going to be a fine game fir me.
Alexander Flores
Yeah but they don't steal them from kikestarter backers to get them
Carter Richardson
>doesnt understand the vad voice acting is actually intentional Actually retarded
Justin Edwards
The original games had an excuse, voice acting in games was still in its infancy.
Shenmue 3 has no excuse, it's been almost 20 years since the last game
Anthony Reyes
>stiff facial animation youtu.be/xVfAoIbWXiA?t=53 Look at his eyebrows. How do you fuck up something so basic?
Noah Anderson
Bad voice acting is amusing in old games, not so much in new ones. Shenmue has been trying to tell an emotional story for three games which is impossible for me to take seriously.
Robert Campbell
>voice acting in games was still in its infancy. no it wasn't. they had a whole gen to work on that already. 2 if you count the mega CD and PC.
Aaron Martin
You're the retard. He's saying it's like those soulless OoT/SM64 UE4 remakes you see on YouTube
Gabriel Jackson
After the Epic games fiasco, I'm ready for this game to burn. nothing wrong with a passion project with a whole lot of soul but fuck these guys. Shenmue 4 is never gonna get made now
Isaac Nguyen
Why would you want Shenmu when Yakuza is a thing
Juan Kelly
>on his own words >NO HE MEANT SOMETHING ELSE yikes.
Blake Nguyen
Under budget is a fucking understatement. Shenmue cost about 65 Million dollars to make, and its probably the best looking game of that Era. Unfortunately, Shenmue 3 is exactly the same as Shenmue 1, and while the graphics were revolutionary in 1999, they're utter dogshit now
Jose Gray
Means lazy project, retard. Don't have consistency in contents. Slapped together to make just work.
Levi Stewart
>low budget Its a multi-million project tho
Nicholas Torres
>namedropping a game engine means the game is BAD how much of a fucking nodev underaged faggot are you yourself, fucking clown.
Ryder Taylor
The original Shenmue had at least $47 million pumped into it.
This has a mere $7 million.
Owen Robinson
$7 million from the kickstarter. We don't know how many Sony and Deep Silver bucks were given to Y's Net.
