i used one in my old build until like 3 years ago, in fact that same one is now in my mom's pc i built for her. fucking unstoppable force of a cpu desu.

OH NO NO NO

*cracks open bang's root beer*
*sips*
Yep, that's a gooood processor. Still choochin' along.
Literally no reason to upgrade, ever.

I don't see the point, still works better than some CPUS out there

>Still above 60fps
I mean if I was buying a gysnc or feeesync monitor I wouldn't also be running an old CPU so not exactly a great argument your graph.

Yearly new releases are for cucks. Every time the hardware gets better devs cut more corners because the processing power allows it.
That's why all the new gaymes take beefy setups (aside from the gratuitous photo realistic rendering of course)

>mfw using an i3

the average fps isn't what matters. it's the frametimes. 4 core CPUs have way harsher dips than modern CPUs.

used one until this year, still works perfectly fine too

i7 4790K

You only need a new cpu when you have to change socket.

I still had the non-K variant mere months ago.
Had no problems running anything w/ it when coupled up with the GTX 1060 6gb.

Still, I finally upgraded to the i7 2600K earlier this year, and clocked it to over 4Ghz, just to ensure smooth emulation performance in some more modern titles. I got a feeling that this babe will serve me for at least another 5 years.

>still use a 10 year old Xeon that I overclocked to 3.6GHz
>still use DDR3 memory
>can play every new game in 1080p/60FPS on max settings
>mfw when Yea Forums complains about lack of optimization

Attached: 4CR0Jo5v.png (600x600, 321K)

It's cutting the fps in half compared to a modern CPU.
The overclocked score isn't bad but a 8-thread 2600k @ 4.7GHz with DDR3-2400 is not representative of the typical 4-thread 2500k @ ~4.4GHz and DDR3-1600. That shit is a stuterfest.

I had my i7-2600K at 4.3GHz from 2011 until a couple months ago when I changed for a i9-9900K.
That CPU was a beast, I was playing The Division 2 in medium-high settings with it at 1080p/60+fps and apart from some pop-in due to low distant detail, it ran flawlessly for something that old.

you're delusional if you think 4c/4t is still cutting it in 2019

Try playing Battlefield V or the upcoming Total War game

Devil's Canyon bros IN THE HOUSE

I still have mine, but I'd like to get a Ryzen 3700/3800/3950X so that I can play 1440p/144Hz. Otherwise the processor is amazing, but it does show it's age in certain titles, like newer Total War games, or if you want to go over 60Hz in newer games.

this
my pc is from 2013 and still holds up. every one of you are just sold out

I still have an i5 and I can play everything with 0 issues

thot that was a box of macking cheese

>relic
>i5
Okay

Hard to believe it's been so long since Intel made a good product.

I'm running a dual core celeron kek.

youtube.com/watch?v=47Srm4p2Dh0

i7 920
>+10 years later it still works well enough
>outlived at least two GPUs and hard drives
>tfw win7 support ending soon and mobo doesn't have guaranteed support for win10
Intel gets my commendations for this processor.

That's because Intel hasn't had proper competition until AMD Ryzen. Zen 2 is already surpassing them as well.

WAIT WHAT?!
ARE YOU
IMPLYING THAT
IN 2019
MY OLDASS I5 FROM 50 YEARS AGO
WITH 4 CORES
AND 4 THEADS
DESPITE A H E F T Y OC
TO 4.5GHZ
CANNOT IN FACT
RUN MODERN GAMES
WITHOUT THOSE ANNOYING
ASS STUTTERS AND ISSUES
?????

no way dude..

I use an ivy bridge i7 in my emulation rig. The fucking mobo and case are shit, though, I should get new ones. I have to turn it on using the mobo's power switch.

Mine is still kicking since 2011. Still playing all games I care about with it. Next CPU will be from AMD though.

Try to play any modern CoD, try to play BF1 or V, try to play any multiplayer game for that matter that is modern and has a lot of players per match
>h-haha modern CoD is shit anyway same with vagina field, l-look silky smooth 99% CPU usage *drops to 5fps for 2 seconds*

>l-look! 125fps in BF1 in the first mission!! that proves that my i7 isn't shit
Anything below 6c6t in 2019 is garbage and you're retarded for thinking your i7 from 25 years ago is still good.

Win7 is gonna be fine for a while unless you're the type who does "serious business" on your home PC. I was forced to move to Win10 and even LTSB is less accessible than Win7. I have to repair/reinstall win10 pretty regular because the goddamn thing will just fail if I install a driver or piece of hardware it doesn't like and there's no fucking way to easily boot into safe mode.
>hurr power cycle five times there you go
Nigger, I want to press F5 and select safe mode. Fuck off with that.

>want to play Post Scriptum/Hella Loose
>can't afford new mb/cpu/ram
>stuck on my i7-2600, 8GB
>have to play RS2 with massive stutters

Attached: McFeels.gif (480x360, 2.52M)

Which Zen2 are you getting? I can't decide if I should get the 3700X, 3800X, or 3900X. I wonder which is the most bang for the buck, I want another future proof CPU like my good ol 2500k.

>I need to validate my waste of money on too frequent upgrades with overpriced hardware by bashing smarter people
Heh.

If my i5 can play VR games but apparently struggles with certain recent games then that means those games are unoptimized trash to be quite honest my familiar posters.

Attached: 1473550906371.jpg (720x552, 64K)

where my i7-2700k bros at? 8 years and still kicking strong

Attached: 1543147458495.jpg (451x403, 44K)

I don't know yet, maybe next year model. Gotta pay the bills first and my car needs new brakes. Will probably go for the fastest model though, since I also use my PC for work ( compile and sometimes encoding). That is also mostly the reason I want to retire my 2500k, since work stuff sometimes takes ages.

>umami
At least you have taste.

They are but you're not able to play them properly and that sucks. If one would avoid all unoptimised games there would be barely anything left to play.

my 4670k with some mild overclocking is already feeling the pain. frequent stutter in games. it sucks but I can't afford better.

Man you're in for a treat, moving beyond quadcore feels so fucking good.

I'm ready to ascend bro.

I'm planning to buy one of these, what would be the best budget GPU I could get to pair it with this?

what'd you OC to? I'm at 4ghz and it's bottlenecking me for sure but I'm really happy with it overall. It was a budget choice back then when I got it in 2013 and will do for probably another year or 2

3.7GHz
I could probably get it higher now that I don't rely on stock cooling anymore but it tends to get unstable after that

keep seething multiplayer zoomer

>tfw still with ayyymd FX 6300
>can still run any new AAA game

Attached: 114.jpg (1280x720, 81K)

This is my processor. Do I need to upgrade?

need a new ram too you brainlet, ddr3 isn't compatible with ddr4 chipsets

I only support AMD, both CPU and GPU.

I boycott Intel and Nvidia. I hope their overworked engineers blow their brains out.

Attached: locations of amd offices.jpg (1478x617, 73K)

not defending intel but the moore's law is dead you fucking brainlet

Despite AMD's best effort, Intel still absolutely dominates the desktop market.

Intel is an established brand. Everyone buys laptops nowadays, and people don't think twice about paying more with Intel inside rather than AMD. It's ogre.

are you buying it used? I'd be careful with that gamble user

Based retard

>i5
>Relic

>gamble
A CPU's lifespan is between 15 and 25 years you dumb motherfucker.

Zen 2 destroys even Intel, that FX is dogshit.

i still use i5-4460 + gtx 960
will see if i can play cyberpunk if not i will upgrade otherwise i will wait for the new console before upgrade

Attached: 1516874928152.jpg (648x800, 92K)

>chart goes up to 2017
heh

do you have any idea what people have done to 2500ks over the years you fucking retard?

Try Planet Coaster and watch your CPU catch on fire.

Just because it works, doesn't mean it's usable.

It's like telling me to use 2 knives to mince up a smoothie, when a blender is way better at it.

Except pc exclusive, games rarely depends on ultrafast cpu due to consoles have utter garbage cpus.

Using that CPU with the new Total War without issue.

My next PC build is going to be an AMD threadripper.

with a Nvidia RTX 3080ti
