Pretty sure the studio died

Because no one bought the original, dummy

(no, me neither, all my PS2 games were pirate copies)

It was shit admit it.

t. couldn't beat the homos

Imagine being this shit at vidya

Based. Same here, I modded my ps2 as soon as I got it.

Back when the mafia ran the casinos in Vegas, they only cared about the casinos making money. That's why so many people got 'comped' (rooms, food, etc on the house). However, today the establishment wants everything to make money - even the cup of coffee you buy.

Games back then were like that. Publishers could justify churning out games without care about 'trends' because they were the hot thing and people were gonna buy them regardless. However, today every title has to sell 5 million at minimum, else its seen as a failure.
So to answer you question, no publisher has any reason to dumb tens of millions into a God Hand 2 that - as market trends will tell you - no one would buy.

Because it sold like shit, don't @ me.

I wonder if the low score from journos actually had a part in its death

I really like this game

even if they did, what could they possibly do in a sequel gameplay wise that won't let you down?

I doubt it. The game looks cheap (hell, it IS a low budget game after all) and around the time the PS2 was infested with shovelware titles releasing by the dozens every month.
People just assumed God Hand was showelvare too. It wasnt, but the damage was already done

Some part, sure, but it's not the silver bullet.

Truly though I think simply by making the game an early PS3 exclusive would have saved it. Remember all the disgruntled customers, how the launch lineup was so weak? Even Cerny admitted that much. With that kind of a lineup, being the only action game would metaphorically lock people in a room with the game. They'd see the true amazingness it had. Meanwhile on the PS2 by 2006 you had tons of action games you could play instead.

the game was released in late 2006. 360 had been out for 1 year and ps3 launched like month after god hand. fresh ip to a dead console. no one bought it except few clover fans which was already a niche.

>Studio that made it was shut down and 90% of it's employees left the company
>Sold terribly
>Reviewed terribly
>Deliberately alienating visuals, both by being a game that's very hard as well as a game that's too wacky and sterotypical for westerners but too violent for japanese

I can't think of a game less likely to get a sequel, even if it is really good. I'm shocked the game even got a PSN release and a reference in the MVC3 cards thing

gene was supposed to be in mvc3 but they swapped him with okami mid development because capcom thought no one would know who the fuck he is.

The controls were shit.

Could gene beat Dante?

Imagine: Party Babyz for the Wii is more likely to get a sequel

false

On a serious game no, but Gene is a comedy character and would wipe the floor with Dante's mug because he is the funnier one

gene with god hand: maybe
gene with 2 god hands: yes

Because it sold like shit and to be honest the game is shit too but Yea Forumsfor some strange reason has a hard on for this game.
