i expect threeie just took too long and once MS bought them it just fell apart. The first 2 are very Nintendo and being N64 exclusive meant they could rely a lot on Nintendo for support and input while they were developing. MS wanted a banjo game from them but couldn't help them out at all so Nuts and Bolts was probably just a reskin of some other game that was already in development

now im playing the first game and its fantastic. so many great ideas (even if its similar to super mario and donkey kong 64)

The buyout was the Stamper Brothers fault.
They saw that game development was going to require more people and that involved restructuring Rare's teams which were all organized small tight knit groups competing to make the better game and decided that it sounded like too much work and that they'd rather just fuck off with a sum of cash.
So they offered Nintendo a shitty deal in which Nintendo would effectively be paying outright to continue the relationship with Rareware that had been going smoothly for 2 generations already. Except now after they paid the sum of money for the other 51% of Rare they'd no longer be autonomous which was one of the biggest benefits of Rareware to Nintendo in the first place.
So naturally Nintendo didn't jump at an awful deal and Rare didn't get bought by them and the stamper brothers started looking for other buyers.
Microsoft isn't to blame for the buyout they really didn't take Rare out from under Nintendo like most people think. It was Rare's presidents being greedy that caused the buyout. MS is just to blame for mismanaging them to hell after the buyout.

Probably just a mistake, but i am baffled that Rare Replay hasn't come to the Switch yet, with how well MS and Nintendo are getting along. Maybe it'll get announced closer to the Banjo release date.
