I think I read somewhere that they alerady started development on the next title almost immediately after final DLC was released.
The game engine is already there, they have an existing artstyle and quite a bit of assets they can reuse, repurpose or build upon and they only have to develop for one platform so they can also optimise it properly Hopefully we get 1080p 30fps docked
It's been a year and a half since then and they seem to have already thought up of the story and felt confident enough in their progress to announce it.
Remember that they revealed BotW at E3 2014 and it didn't come out until nearly 3 years later. I odubt they would make the same mistake again and put additional pressure on themselves.

I played through it once on normal and once on hard mode, collected all korok seeds, upgraded all armor and 100% it on both saves. Other than that I like to fuck around with the game physics and mechanics a lot and it's pretty much my go-to game when I want to relax in the evenings after a hard day because I can just hop into it for 15-30 minutes.

For once, we don't know much about the Royal family in BOTW outside of small snippets of memories, books and Legends.

What if Ganondorf was actually a good person in BOTW, like everyone is saying.
But this time, my take on it, is that Ganondorf didn't sacrifice himself, rather the Royal family did this to him.
We know that the Royal family has done fucked up shit, the bottom of the well in OOT is a good example.
It's possible that Nintendo planned for us to simply believe that the Royal family has had good intentions this entire time, that they were on our side, Links side.
And since Link is Amnesiac in BOTW, we can only believe what the Game told us, and not Links personal experience and backstory, since he barely even remembers that.
And so far it's all been good shit, nice shit, Royal family is kind and forgiving.
