Geese had been confirmed alive since KOF 95. He was the one who formed the Yagami team. Remember? His "partners" were Billy Kane and Eiji (ninja from AoF).

Geese debuted in the Fatal Fury series, and was later added into King of Fighters, after he was already dead in FF. Him being alive in KoF is so far a contradiction to storyline in FF series, where he is still considered officially dead.

He is also in Maximum Impact but I guess that's not canon.
