I personally enjoy both action and turn based, but at different times.
Turn based is what I want when I'm really stressed or miserable because I'm not punished for my weakened focus, an Action game would only serve to stress me out.
I'm playing Disgaea right now because I'm not in the best place emotionally and it's been very therapeutic.

Personally I dislike turn based because there’s absolutely no flow to it. It’s constant start and stop and that irks me. Nothing wrong with people wanting to play a board game on their pc, but I just don’t see the fun in it. I’d rather be trying to actively fight, gook click or macromanage my way to victory.

"turn based" is fine. I usually only dislike it because when it comes bundled in with other objectively lazy and unsavory game design elements like random encounters and forced grinding. Sifting through an animation library every battle or clicking the attack button every fight because there's zero strategy required for hours on end is enough to make me turn my brain off. I could get the same enjoyment from taking a nice nap.
