In Samus Returns, Metroid II's remake, the Chozo Memories tell the story of what happened on SR388 before all of the games, these war Chozo killed the Chozo on SR388 after a Metroid outbreak, they went to Zebes and built the temples there and then they went to some unknown place in the galaxy, after Fusion it's believe that Samus will have to face these rogue Chozo next and I fear she is not ready for such a task.

Halo went the same route Resident Evil did and made it's story way too incomprehensible, but unlike RE it's still trying to play it straight.

When 343 took over they had no original ideas for the series, so they started lifting from Halo's EU novels. If you only played the games, the story from 4 on makes no sense, and centers around characters you aren't familiar with.

343 is claiming that Infinite will be a "soft reboot", but even from the trailer it's obvious they're still continuing the idiotic Guardians storyline.

I think what really made Halo CE shine, apart from the gunplay, was the atmosphere of the campaign. You started off crash landing on an alien world. Some of your fellow soldiers survived, and you'd encounter them. But as the campaign wore on, you eventually stopped finding your comrades as night settled in. It became clear you were the only human left standing against the Covenant on Halo, and your goal became a suicide mission to make sure no one made it off.

The feeling of isolation and an overwhelming force was palpable. Even playing on co-op, you felt the helplessness of your situation grow. Halo has atmosphere.

That's just your head canon. You can do it with anything.
