I only use titty monsters and dinosaurs in Cyber Sleuth.

Don't fall completely for the "digimon games are bad" meme, a lot of games in the series are good, the thing with Digimon is that you have a lot of different subseries of videogames coming out between released.

The Digimon World which focuses on Digimon raising, interacting and exploring with then, then you have the Digimon Story series which are for the most part more story-driven RPGs, and recently we are getting Digimon survive which seems is going to be an strategy game with your own Digimon crew trying to actually survive in a more hostile Digiworld.

Basically you get a lot of options in this series, Digimon isn't very consistent but they stuck on their style of gamaes and are doing really fine so far with their current games.

I can believe that, because the Japanese have some very bullshit and confusing beauty standards sometimes. It honestly feels random who they deem ugly or not. A friend I have in Japan tells me that voice actress Tomatsu Haruka is often considered ugly or weird looking and is mostly only popular for her voice, and I have no fucking clue why people think this, and no one there can provide an answer that doesn't sound like they pulled it out of their ass.

I remember reading somewhere that that's what the design process behind him was, apparently. They wanted an Evo line where every single form of the Evo line looked like a heroic protagonist Digimon. They screwed up a bit with the adult level, but they got it mostly right

Stop comparing Digimon to Pokemon, Pokemon is a team builder rpg, Digimon is a virtual pet toy that later became some sort of mix-media after that particular fad died.

A potentially interesting concept that hasn't been able to find traction thanks to Bandai tearing up anything remotely resembling a formula within 3 cycles at the most.

It's somewhat funny how Digivices are essentially vaguely fill the same role as MegaTen's Demon Summoning Program but tucked into dedicated Tomagachis/iThings, and yet the series is so wildly different in tone.

Needs more faithful computing and programming nods though, since AFAIK outside of Tamers, most such references are "magical technology" tier.

Digimon games unlike Pokemon games never stuck with one formula, it have more variety. This lead to some being pretty bad but there also some really good.

Agreed. I'm always charmed when certain bits of lore refer to certain Digimon's abilities to affect networks, may it be to break them down or defend them.

I remember one bit of lore the referred to Omegamon as being extremely high trust network security agent. From there, my imagination got to work thinking of him as a sort of frightening Hyper user who can easily gain permission to access any machine or file inside the network he's stationed in. His powers even including running deletion commands even on the root. Thus why his sword says "ALL DELETE".

Only thing that really carried over was the farm and the data scanning. I really don't like the DS games, but I do gotta admit, I think the idea of the lane-based combat would make for a more interesting meta

My biggest problem with the CS games right now is that there's just not enough generic moves, all the ones that we have are extremely basic. We need some more mechanics to help mix it up more and give us more move potential, and reintroducing the lanes could do that

Yeah, the lane-base combat was good in that it give you difference strategy. AOE attack deal less damage but can hit multiple target, good again mob or big boss while single target move deal more consistent damage on high health enemies that doesn't have large hit box.

Considering how badly Re:Digitize Decode bombed on 3DS, I don't think NamDai would have much of a stomach to try their luck porting already released games again.

Considering how stupid naming convention aside, Appli is actually fairly well-received in Digimon circles, I don't think that it's an apt comparison.

Maybe if S&S goes full Tri it'll feel a bit more natural of a comparison.

Marketing the characters under a different name in this case was a sign of ambition. Appmon was more hardcore than most Digimon works. Literally the only actual Digimon in it was Agumon and its evolutions; nothing else had been seen previously. It's like Sword and Shield on steroids.
