Some bits are more accurate in the fan-translation ("Sorry!") and some in the official one (Crimson Wizard, stubborn line), but overall, the word flow is closer in the fan-translation.
Honestly, someone should hack the official translation to restore parts of the fan-translation piece-by-piece so we have an ideal version and everyone can shut up about it.

Unlike in the original, every stat matters in some shape or form and every character has had their skillsets overhauled.

Certain spammable items in the original have had their prices jacked up considerably so you might want to ensure that you have important things like healing/buffs/debuffs and possibly sabers covered in some shape or form.

Level 2/3 techs have secondary scaling based on Int and Level 1 techs can critical so builds focused on those require luck. All techs are affected by sabers now which is a big deal. Spells also get a passive bonus if you cast them with the correct saber buff.

Try to avoid dying too much cause there's penalties for it. Also keep the item document open at all times on your first run.

If you played the shit out of the original one play Sin on Easy/Normal. Anything higher than that and it gets kaizo tier.
If you want to remember the original experience as part of the hype for the remake, play the new translation.

Each character has an individual prologue. Then the first half of the same is mostly the same for everyone, with dialogues changing depending on the party. Then the second half changes to 1 of 3 path depending on your MC: Hawkeye/Riesz, Duran/Angela or Kevin/Charlotta

The game came out in 1995, and everyone thought the game was just too damn buggy to ever be considered worth the effort of localizing. Collection of Mana's release in Japan gave people some hope, but that was back in 2017. No one but those who caught the mostly-accurate E3 leak list ahead of time expected the collection to be finally announced for America. And the remake came right the fuck out of left field AND didn't look like a mobile garbage dumpster fire.

It's like a never ever times two.

Yes, some scenes have extra dialogue depending on your party members, but the only major changes are the prologues, penultimate dungeons and final bosses.

I'd compare it to Earthbound Beginnings or any of the Operation Rainfall titles.

Lord is an offensively proficient full party healer. Paladin has good damage and saint saber which is great for the black rabite, also has a great level 3 tech.

Light Angela is better than Dark Angela in terms of actually being usable over the course of the game and Riesz's best summon is on her L/D class (its the best way to clear screens since it prevents enemies from countering with magic/techs)

The devs have expressed that if this one does well, they want Legend on the roll next. Essentially running down the list really. I'd say Trials doesn't have to even exceed millions here, for all the effort they're putting into this it still looks pretty low-budget.

God Beasts is an inaccurate translation. They are not gods. They were created by the gods. They are "spirit beasts"or Mana beasts.

There's something about the artstyle that looks like it doesn't have a high budget yet still looks very good. I guess it just fits SD3's style since the sprites and artwork was always a good blend of anime and cartoon.

Can someone redpill me a bit on the class system? All I remember playing in the series was Children of Mana, and I don't remember it having classes. How do they work exactly? Does your basic attack remain the same or does it change, do you get skills or abilities of some sort, stuff like that.

You get a new Tech attack (you still keep your old one, the new one uses more charges) and you gain the abilities to learn new spells (You still have to learn them through stat requirements)

Classes are Trials-only as far as I know. Of the six playable characters, at level 18 and then level 38 you get to choose Light or Dark individually for each character which determines their path. The result is that their stats shift according to the new class and they can gain new special attacks and magic, expanding their arsenal depending on your choices. That makes for 2 classes to go into, 4 to finalize on, and thus 6 classes for every character on top of their starting base class.

Most of SD3's fun basically boils down to who you put together for your three-man party and then mixing and matching which classes they'll get to either get game-breaking synergy or challenge yourself with a gimped crew if they don't mesh well.
