god, I remember even in 2011 during Skyrim's hayday you morrowindfags were spamming the board with your autist. you are worse than winduwaika and twilightoprincessfags.

No, skyrim problem is cutting attributes and spells

yes

Yes, I hate the over-reliance on it. I disabled the minimap in Witcher 3 because otherwise I would just constantly look at it. But then it was a chore constantly looking at the full map to see where I'm going, partly because the menus were incredibly slow on PS4. I just want somebody to tell me "he's at the Dickbutt pub by the pier", instead of just telling me to go to Novigrad when I'm at the other side of the world

Yeah it’s pretty casual. Ruins the immersion. I think it makes sense if someone is like “hey yeah let me mark that on the map for you so you know” but getting a quest from finding something and then marking your map for its delivery is just boring. Also Witcher senses were just for retards in general.

Quest markers have absolutely nothing to do with exploration.
This is the dumbest argument I have seen about them.

Just turn it off.
>b-b-ut then I am lost and don't know where to go! you can't expect me to actually explore!

>doing the early ghost quest in White Orchard
>investigate the well
>can't find anything to interact with
>fuck it, jump into the well, maybe the ghost is there
>explore the cave, something glowing in the water
>can't pick it up
>eventually find my way out of the cave, go back to the village
>this time I use Witcher senses on the well
>"hmm maybe there are clues in the well, gotta be"
>do the same sequence again, this time I can pick up the glowing thing
Good design

morrowind was too hand holdy, you should be expected to write your own notes and make your own map markers in a real rpg
also becoming a god just by hitting mudcrabs a lot is pretty pathetic game design, I'll never understand morrowindfags who think it's the greatest rpg of all time

I want to stick my nose up Liv's ass.

Daggerfall worth playing if I'm not a lorefag?

>Oblivion has more to its city than Morrowind

N-no d-delete this... M-morrowind was supposed to b-be more deep.

>you should be expected to write your own notes and make your own map markers in a real rpg
I would not mind this at all. I've actually considered trying to make a game with that type of notebook mechanic, where you can take notes like that. I'm not sure if it would really add too much to the experience though, you'd still get the same keywords either way but could b neat

nigga are you blind?

It is free from Bethesda now.
Still not worth the price.

It only makes sense for the Imperial City to be larger than Vivec. Vivec isn't even the largest city in Morrowind.

yes, quest markers ruin any game, they completely ruin exploration and the joy of discovery

As someone who hasn’t played Gothic II but has read about it, isn’t that essentially how it works? You get info from people but you don’t mark anything + you have to remember shit yourself?

Quest markers only mean your game is bad, your audience doesn't care about reading or listening to hints or instructions or your game doesn't work well with written instructions

Yes, and so have fully voiced games.

>when Yea Forums complains about quest marker in skyrim but loves batman vision in Witcher 3

Attached: 1236409720461.jpg (208x210, 10K)

>Skyrim bad for having quest marks
>I am okay with New Vegas having it
>I am okay with Witcher games having it
>etc.
It's just another reason to hate on a popular game.

I'm glad no one was dumb enough to reply to this b8, this wannabe troll must be SEETHING right now

>but loves batman vision in Witcher 3

>user has an argument with one redditor and then applies it to all of Yea Forums despite there having been dozens of threads about how retarded that is

a little bit now that I think of it yeah

but you just replied
it's also a valid point

who are you quoting???????????

Name one person who has said what you greentexted

s-stop your s-s-s-stuttering, s-s-s'wit

lol wannabe troll seething hard af rn

Morrowind or Oblivion what should i download? I want to have fun.

>I want to have fun.
call of duty

daggerfall because it's free

boring

shut the fuck up

I don't have to name one person, it's easily to extrapolate it from the general attitude of this board.
The majority of people here love games like New Vegas and Witcher 3, this is obvious by the amount of threads they got and keep getting.

>inb4 there are no opinions that are shared by a majority of people browsing a board

all the elder scrolls are free

You can still be a good game with a shit mechanic. eg: Quest markers.

>general attitude of this board.
Kill yourself

>there are no opinions that are shared by a majority of people browsing a board
No, there are, that's just not one of them.
Where is this Yea Forums likes The Witcher 3 meme coming from? You'll notice that despite saying this, there are multiple people shitting on it and no one defending it.

Have you ever considered that maybe everyone is not the same person

witcher 3's so hated people make b8 threads calling it a master piece lol

A combination of quest markers and minimaps have ruined most open world games for me, gives me tunnel vision. I'm dealing with traffic while watching my minimap, missing the landscape completely. I wish more games had to option to turn it off

That's why I turn the minimaps off. I learned that when I was playing Black Flag, when I was sailing I would just watch the minimap for ship icons and other stuff. I turned it off and suddenly I was enjoying the scenery

Oblivion

I'm going to bite, is there any mod that fix the usual stuff? I heard years ago that it crashed quite a lot.

Crazy idea here, maybe it isn't the markers per se but the dumbing down of the actual content they lead you to. An arrow pointing you through a corridor dungeon is insulting, not like you're going to get lost or even have options in your route.

If they had just spent time ironing out the mountain of kinks Morrowind had and rereleased it instead of wasting their time creating Skyrim it would have been a better game.

It's just as annoying even if it's in a big overworld. What is even the point of the big map if you'll just go from A to B in a straight line

If only most open world games had shit that was actually worth finding with directionless exploration. All you usually get are copy pasted shit that's the same as everywhere else, and just the one thing in the area that matters even a little bit because it advances the plot or whatever. Maybe that one tree that's the same as all the other trees is rendered nice, but that novelty doesn't last long.

the worst part is that you HAVE to use it
>RDR2
>Gotta hide this wagon
>Drive around for 5 minutes without realizing I have to hide in THESE trees

Morrowind was shit too. You just dont remember it having only one brown linear path to the dungeon

Well that game is for retards yeah

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul

Morrowind is just as much kiddieshit as skyrim. Its barely even a rpg, more of an adventure game.
Arena and Daggerfall are the only good TES games

fuck off gothic kiddies, no one's buying your dogshit game. The combat is clunky (on purpose doesn't make it better), the lock on system is absolutely retarded, the writing is bad and it doesn't even look good.

oh hi todd

Attached: tommy.jpg (370x136, 4K)

No, but overreliance on it did.

Can you go into all of the buildings in Daggerfall?

witcher 3 does it a lot better

>2019
>People still complaining about Skyrim's questmarkers
>Meanwhile you have the ability to just turn them off and not use them
>Even then, questmarkers don't give you a straightforward path to follow
God, shut the fuck up already you fucking faggots.

yes, but the catch is that there's only 5 of them copy pasted over and over

This image is misleading since there are only like two dungeons in all of Morrowind that are bigger than a few hallways. Almost all of them are genuinely worse than Skyrim.

Attached: lamo.png (640x808, 239K)

>just turn off the quest markers!
>quest dialogue tells you to go to place, zero directions
>only way to find out where to go is to wander around until you find it

thats the issue.

>The combat is clunky (on purpose doesn't make it better)
>writing bad
That is tes allright.

Is there randomized loot in them/anything that makes them worth exploring at all?

Markers and mini-maps killed exploration at the same time every dev jumped on the open world bandwagon.
Or maybe because.

there are generic npcs and wardrobes/cupboards filled with junk in each of them

>ever playing a bugthesda video game

Attached: 1549854514452.gif (350x368, 1.99M)

you can burglarize shops, and sometimes random quest targets spawn in them.

>playing daggerfall when blades exists

No one has said anything about Witcher lmao

I mentioned Witcher right in the fourth message ???

lurk more my dude

>skyrim
>disable quest markers
>game wasn't designed to be played without them
>literally have no clue where to go
wow how come I never thought of that! thank you so much

>OH MY GOD NOW I HAVE TO EXPLORE?
I see, let's rephrase thigs then
>I don't want to quest markers but I want obvious and clear hints to were to go to make me feel like I am smart and discovering things on my own while in reality I am just following instructions

And that's apparently too hard for smoothbrains like you, so they added quest markers so you don't even have the option of fucking up.

not him but it's called immersion
someone telling you to go somewhere and not being able to ask literally anyone where that place is so lol just run around literally everywhere until you see it is not realistic or reasonable

I actually play cRPGs. I just come here to laugh at whiners like you.

I don't see how this post has any relation to anything I said but you're probably just b8ing so whatever

>morrowind
>no quest makers
>characters give you general directions and clues of where to go

>skyrim
>disable quest markers
>no one says jack shit
>have no clue where to go at any point in time

also..

Attached: RPG downgrades.png (621x929, 138K)

Would someone really do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

Attached: Untitled.png (683x23, 3K)

quality over quantity

This is bad b8 m8, gotta try harder, sage.

bump

Other complaints are completely justified, but the attribute system of Morrowind and Oblivion is really bad and you have to actively play around it to get anywhere.
Standalone, Skyrim is a better game than either just for having scrapped that shit.

lol

Shut the fuck up.

It's funny. When Morrowind came out, the 'hardcore' players of then treated it like how the 'hardcore' players of today yay Skyrim.
