I think the maps in this game are going to be fine, and fearmongering based off the leaks isn't substantiated.
From the second map shown off by Treehouse, the indoor battle versus the Death Knight, we can see some manner of thought was actually put into it. And it's only chapter 8, too. People/retards are so quick to claim this game won't be any better than Birthright, but look at Birthright's chapter 8 and tell me with a straight face that open fields of sand are on par with a castle full of traps, chokepoints, various terrain effects, switches doors warp tiles etc.
And the kicker that even on Normal mode, the map has a fail condition- take more than 25 turns in killing the boss or routing and you lose. Even with a number as lenient as that, the map is already a considerable step up from anything in BR's earlygame, or most of the game to be honest.

It looked alright. Maybe nothing too hard, since it didn't look like a lot of enemies between your units and the drawbridge, and the wolf was taking a while to get to the merchants. The best part of it was at the end where an enemy used a Lure gambit, which if it hit would pull your unit behind that enemy, so in Audrey's case that enemy would've pulled Capsar behind enemy lines and inflicted him with the "Distress" debuff just in time to be gangbanged by all the other enemies.
I'm looking forward to seeing how enemy AI makes use of gambits, and that was promising.

The only actually good dragons are the ones from the GBA games that are literal infants, less than 20 years old (which is like, .02 months in dragon years, most FE dragons range from 2-6 thousand years old), that cannot transform under their own powers and have to use dragonstone shenanigans to maintain a stable human form.

That clip is perhaps a bit odd, but the other scenes we saw in the trailer looked great and mimiced the timing of hand-drawn stuff very well. They're doing "celshading faux 2d" on a much better level than the 3DS games did.

I recall awakening cutscenes where people would do those awkward "obviously mocapped head-bobbing" poses, but here everything looks alot closer than how a real "made for TV" animation would time and pose things. It's neat IMO

in the treehouse playthrough they made it seem like character conditions need to be met by byleth such as certain proficiencies for specific characters will allow you to recruit them

The problem is that it requires a custom model for a single character. IS tried this with Fates and gave up due to the trouble and mostly used generic one-size-fits-all models, which makes all sorts of problems with the younger characters like Hayato and Elise. But on the plus side, it gave us goofy stuff like this.

My favourites are FE6,7,9 and 12, I didn't mind Sacred Stones or Radiant Dawn either, and I'm playing through Tracia bit by bit thanks to the new translation and I like it a lot so far. Cool stuff like the Cavaliers being able to dismount is nice to see, and I love the animation. Story is classic FE too which is great. Its simple but they at least take it seriously and if you pay attention its kinda like a nice old Conan short story.

People overestimate FE when it comes to complexity. SMT games had shrouds of grey even within Law and Chaos as nothing was simply black and white. FE has practically always been black and white and the one time they try to be grey you get Fates and it was awful.

SMT Law gets pretty wild with genocide not out of the question. Remember that Lawful doesn't have anything to do with Good, even in the more intuitive and relatable D&D Law.

Of course. Lawful refers to yourself. You have a strict moral code that you're abiding to. Tradition, culture, code, philosophy etc.
Chaotic refers to freedom and tendency to break said rules. Someone who actively defies established set of rules or makes an effort not to follow them or to pursue the sense of individualism and freedom.
Neutral doesn't give a crap.

Dimitri is Lawful for he abides to his own personal code and Edelgard is lawful because she upholds the warmongering ways of her empire.

Chaos and Law are a horseshoe in extremes, not difficult to be confusion. Either that or you're thinking more on the "good neutral evil" axis. Though the more complete way of seeing things is to examine the 9 alignments individually.

We actually haven't seen anything of Claude so we can't tell. He is mostly responding to the Dimitri/Edelgard conflict than having an opinion himself and we still don't know how his country got involved in the war even.

Thing is that SMT alignemts are very different from DnD alignments. In DnD alignments represent a mindset and are a tool for roleplaying, so that whenever you're lost or don't know how to role play you recall your corresponding alignment and behave, speak or act accordingly (recall in DnD you're supposed to go full campy ham IRL). All 9 alignments can make the same choice presented the same problem for different personal reasons because it defines ~why~ you did it.
In SMT, however, the alignment represent the allegiances you make through your choices, and represent a lot more of a faction than a strictly the mindse behind them. Alignment in SMT is defined by ~what~ you did and which choices you picked.

Exactly, FE is DnD and I doubt Three Houses will change that.

So lawful is abiding by your own moral code, while chaotic is breaking established rules? In that case, aren't Edelgard and Dimitri tecnically both at the same time? It's already been said that Edelgard wants to get rid of the crests, and they've been stated to determine people's social status. I think we quite honeatly need to know more than a few lines of dialogue from a few trailers and some supposed leaks, to be perfectly honest.
But by that description Edelgard rejection of crests as status symbols is very chaotic, whereas Dimitri's ultimate desite to stablish a social order is very lawful.

We are absolutely reading too much into a handful of dialogue lines from an E3 trailer and setting ourselves up for crushing disappointment when the story is inevitably about an ancient evil awakening and being defeated with friendship.
It's fun to speculate though.

All routes will end up with you eventually killing some of your former students to stop the war, and it wouls be kino if the big bad guy wins in the end by having all 3 nations destroy each other in the end with Byleth unable to stop it

If you play on normal you get optional skirmishes Birthright style, hard mode disables them

Some things in the leak were plain false and that claim seems to be one of the most likely ones to be proven false eventually.
I also don't want a bad ending, but I want something bittersweet. Something like:
