I grew up with Pokemon, so I love that series (at least the first three generations).
I'm also a sucker for metatextual satire, so that gives Mario and Mother an advantage.
Final Fantasy is a fantastic series.
Haven't played Xenoblade, Persona, or Dragon Quest.

Out of all the RPGs there, I like Persona series best. Super Mario RPG comes 2nd.

What are the good Dragon Quest games?
I just realized I've never gotten through a full DQ game because I always drop it at a boring patch. And I normally like playing gay shit. If I had to rank them based on my current experience DQ would be dead last.

Mario rpg is currently garbage to mediocre.
FF is extremely inconsistent
Mother is good but short lived
Persona alone is just ok, SMT as a whole is great but also inconsistent
I dont know enough about Xeno to give a proper opinion

3, monsters, joker are all objectively the best and most iconic ones.

All the mainline entry DQ games generally stick to a formula though so if you like it, that's fine.

Also, dragon quest: rocket slime, the castle-wars game deserves an honorable mention here, seeing as the west will never get the sequel, that game was great.

More Xeno games are pro-religion than not. They're some of the most pro-religious JRPGs out there.
And even then, in the only two Xeno games where you actually kill "God", it turns out to be a manmade God in one game, and in the other it turns out to be a regular guy who stumbled across godhood accidentally and they redeem him in the sequel.

The Zenithia games are god tier and only nostalgiafags/Erdrick bandwagoners will tell you to play 3 over them

mario RPG and the first two paper mario games along with super star saga are peak rpg. fun interesting characters and stories, great interactive battle system. great visual style. there is virtually nothing wrong with these games and you would be hard pressed to find a flaw

The first 3 games were okay, but nothing to write home about. However, starting with 4, the games started to become pretty good. It went downhill after 9 or 10 though.

You either love or hate the first two games. The three after that follow the same style of gameplay, and are more consistent in quality.

The series instantly hit its stride starting with the first and has never really dipped in quality... Too hard, at least.

Xeno is a 21 year old series and has had a bunch of fuck-ups, namely the second half of Xenogears when it turns into a visual novel, Xenosaga 2 is one of the worst JRPGs ever made, Xenosaga 3 was paced poorly because they had to end it there instead of at 6 games, Xenoblade 1 going full shounen and being full of plotholes and distancing itself from everything good about previous games, Xenoblade X literally scrapping its original story to focus on pushing the hardware to its limits instead, Xenoblade 2 only having a 40-man team and the tonal whiplash of trying to juggle between Xenogears-style and Xenoblade 1-style storytelling.

Dragon Quest has the highest amount of quality games. Pretty much none of the games are bad. IX is a bit bland without side characters but the NPCs are still great.
