>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
>they're going to heavy hand the shit out of it
The original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
the reunion draws near brother
Are they gonna outright give Sephiroth the wing outside of the final boss?
>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
You actual fucking retard
Unless I completely blocked it out, he didn't have it in the latest trailer. Maybe it'll pop out later or something, but as of right now they aren't going that far.
Yes. They're also going to make Cloud protect Aerith from monsters during their first meeting, rather than letting Cloud bullshit his way out of suspicion only to realize she doesn't give a damn.
no that's Barrett
have you played FF7?
>monsters
those are probably more significant than monsters considering they're hanging out with Sephiroth.
Why the fuck are they putting Sephiroth so early
Godddd I hate it
Episodic format means you can't not have the main enemy of FF7 not appear ASAP.
was it not the Shinra building we saw him?
you dont see seph at shinra but we do get a glimpse of jenova
I meant in the trailer that was shown
You don't see Sephiroth until Kalm. He's set up as the villain after Masamune is found in Shinra president's back, though
marketing bullshit
We see him in Nibelheim.
you dont see sephiroth until the end of the game at the crater
those are just his phantom monsters
>>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
It's probably because episode 1 really does end right after Midgar so they need to cram Sephiroth into the plot earlier. This stupid episodic formula is going to fuck the story up.
Yeah pretty sad until you realize how awful japan is at being subtle about things. If thats the best they have to offer for foreshadowing it says a lot about them.
>>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
FF fans are so pathetic
okay maybe that was an exaggeration
You see him in Nibelheim in the flashback, and he's also set up as the main villain in the Shinra building even if he didn't actually do the job. I'm not wrong on either counts.
This, his name doesn't even appear until the dead president scene. His first on screen appearance is riding in the back of a truck in Cloud's delusional story at Kalm.
Glad they're keeping the audio and visual distortion when Cloud's asked about his past, those weird bits made the twist reveals sweeter. Maybe they won't just start dropping the plot twists like bombs out right, story may be older than the player-base but the remake should at least pretend it's telling the tale for the first time.
im not talking about meta shit im talking about his first physical appearance in the now was at the end of the game. he is the ultimate bad guy, you chase his memory all game and you dont see him until you have to fight him.
he's brought up earlier than that when Cloud is going to fuck off
>Jessie still dies
Just let me save her.
You don't directly see Sephiroth until the Nibelheim flashback. The Shinra building is where you even learn he exists. 7R is changing the story a lot probably to sell you the next episode since we're stuck in midgar for so much longer.
You know in the original when Cloud is about to set the bomb and a voice says "its not just a bomb"?
Who is saying that?
Why is it not just a bomb?
so sad how barrett strapped that bomb on her to kill thousands of people
>The screen takes on a static-like visual and audio distortion when people mention things about Cloud's past, like his relationship with Tifa, or his time in SOLDIER
>During one of these distortions, Cloud sees a singla black feather falling
I don't know what's worse, that people didn't see that shit coming ten light years away the moment the remake was announced, or that people think these additions are good in any way.
deeper meaning that the bomb was a catalyst for his transition into a women
im not wrong
Sigh. No one cares about your cyberpunk Berserk rip off.
No one cares about Final Fantasy. No one cares about Square. No one cares about Cloud, or Sephiroth, or Midgar, or the plot, or the story. The only thing that matters is OMG FINAL FANTASY VII and nothing else.
FFVII ushered in this age where games became less about the GAME and more about the cinematics and story.
>mash square at normal speed
>or mash square at slower speeds for more bunga damage
Where did aRPGs go so wrong?!
>No one cares about your cyberpunk Berserk rip off.
literally what
>upon leaving tifas bar you will be greeted by a store moogle
>store moggle starts a tutorial showing you how to navigate the hub in search for light orbs
>light orbs are useful crafting materials for potions and ethers
>Sigh
go back to fucking reddit
nice try but even square wouldn't do that
They honestly should have made the Kalm flashback the first part's ending so they could avoid all this shit.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
>Stores
They'll go with CC's phone-order store menus.
I suppose the static stuff is supposed to be the replacement for those weird seizure things in the early game
ACKSHUALLY you see him when Cloud delivers him the Black Materia during the first trip to the Northern Crater.
Let's be real here, the game is going to come out, review incredibly well, sell fantastic, and 97% of people who play it are going to love it, story and gameplay changes be damned.
Technically we don't know for sure they won't. Just have it as a cutscene.
>blow up that guy during the motorbike scene
>flash to Kalm
>Cloud looks regretfully at a photograph of Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge
>everyone is sitting around
>Tell the flashback in cutscenes
>Close up of Cloud's face
>"but this time.... I'll stop Sephiroth."
>camera cuts to every member of the party
>stops on Aerith
>"no, this time we'll ALL stop Sephiroth"
>Gackt's cover of Those Who Fight Further plays over the credits
>after credits scene
>"Sephiroth" is standing on top of a tower
>the camera pans around him and then settles on his face
>jump scare
that isn't so hard
close enough
no one is disputing that though
Are they going to show Cloud and Tifa having sex the night before the endgame?
They know people already know the story, so they are changing it up. Apparently they mention Tifa's name during the bombing run several times, when you don't know she exists until the bar despite Cloud and Barett having history with her and likely would come up in conversations.
I've seen plenty of people think that the episodic nature will torpedo the games sales, but I just don't see that happening.
People will probably spend somewhere between $180-$240 on this "franchise" and clap while they do it.
Think we are getting Deepground stuff?
I think the first game will sell way better than the other two/three. I'm still curious as to whether or not it will actually beat the original in terms of sales. Obviously adding all three together will, but surely there will be tons of people who buy the original to fill the gap between the other two?
>black feather
Finally
If the Compilation can make bank, there's no reason the episodes won't.
The first mention of Sephiroth is during the Tifa/Cloud flashback scene.
Hard to beat a legacy of 20 years, but there is also the possibility of new people getting in too who never have or will play the original.
It's probably Cloud's true inner voice saying it in his head, like with the other times it happens.
I'd prefer not having Sephiroth show so prominently earlier like what they seem to be doing but if the first game is about Midgar then the Kalm flashback would actually be the perfect opening for the next game. Leaving Midgar is already a pretty great climax while still setting up the next part, and it means Rufus can be the final boss or a part of it.
The onscreen text wouldn't have the same effect if voice acted, because part of the impact is not knowing that Cloud's subconscious is talking to him.
It absolutely is going to. Most of the game's most iconic scenes are in Midgar.
The game will drop off in popularity once they leave Midgar at the end of Part two, and when Aeris dies in part six the game will fall off the map entirely.
Why are they only pushing Jessie? It's such a weird decision. We already have a dead brunette.
Do you think twenty years from now her death will be more iconic than Aerith's?
I could've sworn the game doesn't even paint him as a bad guy, despite the clear foreshadowing, until much further into the game. Recent trailer just made him look like a bad guy right out the gate.
They should have made Cloud a little thicker and beefier, a twunk.
Kalm is when he's the antagonist. You could arguably think he's a good guy or an anti-hero until then.
You are told this during the second bombing mission flashback.
If the map layout is the same, then what are the expanding on to make it a full $60 experience?
Yeah, that's what's confusing me. How do you fit the ARPG segments in the original game's maps?
I guess this means the open world idea people were throwing around isn't going to happen.
Lots of minigames. Dance rhythm game with Barret. Fishing minigame with Cloud. Bartending minigame with Tifa.
I'm seriously doubtful that the second/third game will happen. This doesn't seem to be a serious effort to restore the original to playability for a new generation. Its more a action spin-off game like the one they had back on the PS2.
The saddest thing is the FF8 remaster is effectively what they should have done for FF7 years ago, and it proves there's no reason why they couldn't simply do the minimal touchup the game actually needs.
They're looking at Uncharted as a model.
A high focus on cinematics interspersed with scripted enemy encounters.
enemies in decently sized areas. Can't retreat on ladders or small pathways would be my guess
I'm personally waiting to see how Cosmo Canyon,
Mt. Coral and Forgotten City come out. And I hope I won't hate the Ancient Forest.
You know? Now that I think about it, throughout none of the trailers have we had a typical JRPG text box.
If every interaction in the original Midgar is turned into a cutscene, no wonder it'll two blurays
Wrong. In Shinra HQ Cloud explicitly says that Sephiroth is absolutely not a "good guy".
I don't know how they're gonna do the minigame at fort Condor.
When is Zack first mentioned? His plot twist is probably the best kept secret for newfag players who already know about Sephiroth and Aeris.
>If the map layout is the same, then what are the expanding on to make it a full $60 experience?
>Implying "all of Midgar" equals "all of Reactor 01"
How much of a brainlet do you have to be to reach such a conclusion?
it's probably going to be like FFX - voiced in loads of parts but in exploring mode talking to npcs produces a text box
>single black feather
STOP
Probably a lot more of the slums, particularly sector 5. They'll want to give Aerith more screen and play time, since you normally don't get to do much with her until after Midgar. Same thing for Red XIII - my guess is they'll add a whole mess of new content after escaping Shinra HQ on the motorcycle, probably exploring the upper city and having an entirely new subplot focused on getting out of Midgar.
Honestly, it never made sense to me that they just immediately left Midgar after the president gets Aerith'd. At that point the party's priority shifts to hunting down Sephiroth with Cloud as the lead, but with no other clues it was weird to assume that he wasn't still in Midgar given that he was literally just at the Shinra HQ. Kalm is also completely pointless except for Cloud's exposition cutscene, and they could easily put that somewhere in Midgar. I could see them doing something more with showing sector 7 survivors, possibly even letting you explore the ruins, and fleshing out Barret's character earlier by showing the full extent of the destruction and even having NPCs treat Avalanche like the domestic terrorists they are.
Nope. It is fully voiced.
There are long segments where you just see characters talking.
Not really. Plenty of iconic scenes after Midgar
>first intro to the open world
>golden saucer
>revisiting cloud's hometown for the first time
>yuffie's scanerio
>aeris' death
>weapons attacking with the giant cannon cinematic
>train sequence
>getting the highwind
What confuses me about the first episode is how short that part actually is in the original. You got the intro missions, meeting aeris, cross dressing, the platform falling, and then the Shinra building.
It's a tower defense game. SE has had plenty of experience making smartphone shit over the past decade, this won't be hard at all.
I don't see the problem.
I'm unsure they'll even include even half of the minigames. They could cut a whole bunch of them and add some "new" ones to Gold Saucer, but that's at least another year away until we find out.
>topless Sephiroth in super HD
I don't believe you but if true that's a bad idea
I hope they don't cut the snowboarding minigame.
>Barrett is a single black father
Realism GAWN
Well they showed a motor cycle sequence (with Jessie, so unless she is now a part of the escape its a new segment it's not happening though shes going to die again, dumb jessiefags), so we will have that minigame. I worry more that they will release some mini games as paid DLC.
Marlene is his adopted daughter, which you find out during the Golden Saucer.
yeah motorcycle scene looks to be in a train tunnel and not a highway like at the end of midgar
Re...un ion...
they're probably just talking about the e3 demo
What I personally hope they do is expand it. I always thought that Midgar was underutilised considering its one of the biggest cities (lore wise) in FF7. You hear about all the other plates in the original game but you never actually visit them. I think at most you visit 2?
I think that might an escape sequence from one of the other reactors. If anything, that could be how they could expand it. Have AVALANCE take out the first reactor, have Shinra just think it was faulty but then more and more go and they start taking them more and more seriously.
Tifa's panties
this whole project is a money grubbing joke and i'll be amazed if it ever reaches completion
they've done some cool stuff with the material and it's neat to see everything in modern 3D but really this is not going anywhere, it's a cash in that cannot fundamentally work but has been demanded too much to deny. how are they even going to get to disk 2 at this rate?
Assuming the rest of the "series" will play the same way I imagine future episodes will be a hell of a lot faster to produce. All the groundwork is out of the way, now.
For marketing.
Zach is first mentioned by name in an entirely missable encounter with his parents, and prior to that he's only brought up when Aerith reminisces about how she hung out in that playground with her ex once. He is NEVER brought up again until Disc 2 when they replay the Nibelheim cinematic and Zach walks out instead of Cloud.
It is absolutely the best part of FF7.
Besides Midgard, Juno and the Golden Saucer the rest of the locations are just small towns and shitholes.
People spew this claim all the time, but all I got for reasoning is "MUH TRACKRECORD!" and "MUH WORLDMAP!" and other abstract bullshit like that.
I think by the release of the second episode we will know where this is really going. We will be able to see if they actually get the scale of the world right without turning it into FFX/FFXIII corridor maps. Plus there's no point in buying the first episode at full price when there will be a bundled edition for cheaper
sure it might go a bit faster but creating all those other locations and having to do voice shit will still eat up a lot of their time
I always thought that voice in Cloud's head was Sephiroth. Guess I was wrong.
Aerith indirectly mentions him during her first encounter with Cloud, and I can't remember if she mentions him by name later, but the foreshadowing is there.
i think the opposite. midgar is a perfect linear movie setting for them to cash in on, then things are going to get squirrelly. there's a reason they're cutting it off there instead of going by disks, because that's the only place the groundwork is easy.
>My first boyfriend
I never played FFVI, and never will, spoil me on the twist
>Square literally just gave up on finishing the last FF released
>only 10% of the original game is in this remake after years of development
Is it any surprise people are at least a little suspicious
Kefka betrays the Emperor, takes the power of the goddess statues for himself, and destroy the world in the process.
We're talking about VII not VI
She mentions him by name in the scene with his parents I was talking about.
Of course Square will make bank. Have you seen how much money they rake in from their mobages?
exactly my point lol. midgar is the perfect cinematic arc for them to cash in on the initial wow factor and then what? it already took them years and midgar is the most uncomplicated part of the whole thing
Most developer makes bank of mobages because there are chinese whales that are willing to dumb thousands of dollars into the game. Square will be fine, but its more of a question if future FFVII episodes isn't seen as a good investment of their time. Look at Half LIfe Episode 3. Wasn't like Episodes 1 and 2 were bad, it's just Valve decided their time was better spent elsewhere.
>Why the fuck are they putting Sephiroth so early
In case some people haven't noticed, its all related to Cloud's mental damage and probably not actually the character Sephiroth physically being there and there are 2 reasons to support this
>black feather falling down at the mako reactor at the start
In this remake this replaces the voice Cloud hears in the original game which again has to do with his amnesia and mental blocks, but Sephiroth is connected to his rewritten past via Zack
>latest trailer shows Sephiroth taunting Cloud before Cloud attacks him
The lines Sephiroth says here are literally what Zack told Cloud at the end of Crisis Core. This is probably just a straight up illusion
that's pretty much what i'm thinking. as soon as the world bursts wide open and they have to go outside their midgar corridor comfort zone the facade will fall apart and everyone will know what a joke this was.
The biggest problem they'll have with the remake is, there's a cultural meme that FF7 is about a rivalry between Cloud and Sephiroth. But as we know, Sephiroth doesn't even know who Cloud is, and Cloud's belief that there's a rivalry was created by Jenova out of Zack's memories.
How are they going to reconcile the story with its reputation?
It's a remake. They shouldn't be trying to reconcile things differently. Especially new Square.
It's definitely an illusion as the scenery returns to normal right as Cloud attacks. What's interesting is if Sephiroth starts attacking Cloud's mind earlier now and uses a memory that Cloud can't recall at the time (Zack's death). Or if it's Cloud's own fucked mind splicing Zack's dying words into Sephiroth taunting him.
>Sephiroth doesn't know who Cloud is
I'm pretty sure he'd remember the guy who threw him down the fucking mako reactor.
credit to them, so far it seems like they don't care and are being faithful beyond showing a hallucination of seph for the hype factor. the biggest problem is actually finishing the fucking game beyond the perfect little linear box that's only 10% of it and took forever already
The clone Sephiroth doesn't know who he is, I'm sure the regular one did
surely he isn't conscious in the giant mako crystal though
>Just launched an attack on the big corporation owning the city, president is dead and your terrorist group was there.
>Leaving the city immediately doesn't make sense when you're chased by armed forces that don't stop coming until you do a crazy ass stunt through the glass dome surrounding it.
user please.
I would think Sephiroth knows who the person was that killed him. Plus they can just handwave it as two separate continuities like Capcom did with the REmakes.
No it isn't, because the assets can be easily re-used for pretty much all of Junon and the return to Midgar section far later down the line.
Also at most it means that this game will have an extreme scale and gets worked on for a long time. The idea that it just somehow gets cancelled completely randomly for no appearent good reason when it's SE's Magnunm Opus and any of the developer staff would have to "commit sudoku" (har har har har har! - Heidegger, stop that horse laugh) if they failed it, makes it sound extremely unlikely. I mean why "cancel" and not "might take long but result in the largest JRPG for years, maybe decades to come"? I just don't get for what shitty reason they'd suddenly stop doing it? If SE dropped the ball on this, SE would fall and the owners would not be happy.
>surely he isn't conscious in the giant mako crystal though
He was. Who do you think was controlling everything? He straight up messes with Cloud's mind until he has him hand over the black materia.
He is though. Sephiroth's consciousness manipulating Jenova cells in order to retrieve the Black Materia is the plot of the game
They do stop coming at the end of the motorcycle chase though. They take their time discussing what to do next, and all decide that following Cloud to get Sephiroth is the way to go. It makes sense to lay low for sure, but if the next step is to track down Sephiroth, it doesn't make sense to start searching outside of Midgar.
fuck off inbred retard
>Cloud sees a single black feather falling
SEPHIROTH DIDN'T HAVE BLACK WINGS IN IN THE ORIGINAL, MUCH LESS WHEN HE FOUGHT CLOUD
FOR FUCK'S SAKE NOMURE
STOP INJECTING YOUR FAGGOTRY INTO THE GAME
FUCKING STOP YOU FUCKING MANCHILD
Probably won't know without more information because there seems to be two parts to that one scene we are seeing in the remake of Sephiroth. One from the state of play trailer where Cloud sees Sephiroth in the middle of a street with a lot of destruction and fire, and then continues into the alleyway like we saw in the E3 trailer. There's something extra there that gets Cloud very angry
is that Seph using Jenova or Jenova using Seph
He only knows him as "the guy who threw him into the reactor." He doesn't know his name, and they have no shared history beyond that short, weird confrontation.
And this interpretation has never made sense to me. Sephiroth is some guy whose power comes entirely from Jenova, and Jenova is an alien who's clearly stated to have the power to manipulate memories, and people think Jenova is the subordinate one?
Sephiroth is in complete control of Jenova in the game.
thelifestream.net
Seph might know his name since he probably saw a roster list of everyone going to Nibelheim
Safer Sephiroth's wing on the outside is black, which is the part of the wing that would have its feathers drop. On top it becomes red and behind it is like white
Sephiroth was using Jenova.
Jenova also has its head sliced off at that point. You really think it's still alive to control people?
A better branch-off point would be the fall of sector 7's plate. Like Shinra not just magically knowing AVALANCHE's homebase within hours of the second attack, but instead first having to search their base, e.g. the info Cloud and the others get from Don Corneo might be something on a smaller scale, like a "Midgar-wide search operation for rebells". Honestly President Shinra resorting to destroying a whole sector so quickly seems out of character, since that would seem more like something Rufus would do. I mean blaming it on AVALNCHE is one thing, but it doesn't really fit the "solves things with money" image that Rufus describes him with after president Shinra's death. That image would rather fit something along the lines of getting someone to infiltrate AVALANCHE and sell them out on a silver platter. Destroying Sector 7 seems more like something that would have to be planned weeks in advance to ensure it doesn't accidently cause Shinra HQ to collapse too, so Don Corneo would be where the story could (temporarily) branch off from the original into something longer.
lmao, retard. I know Yea Forums likes to be contrarian for the sake of it but you fags are being some next level insufferable rexently.
>which is the part of the wing that would have its feathers drop
Sephiroth doesn't transform until the end of the game, the flashback makes absolutely zero sense.
See:
>SEPHIROTH DIDN'T HAVE BLACK WINGS IN IN THE ORIGINAL
brainlet, see
See That's Safer Sephiroth, not normal Sephiroth.
there are stranger things than a head still alive like a skeleton riding a boat or a petrified dog still alive
Even if I agreed with your premise, the game is more than two decades old, people already got the notice, they know Cloud's memory is fucked, and they know Aerith aint' going to have full level progression. No sense acting otherwise.
none of you were even alive before 2000
Guard Scorpion also didn't have 4 phases and a kinetic energy shield to bypass damage. Not only will different things happen, we are probably going to take different routes to different plot points in the remake
Cloud = Guts
Sephiroth = Griffith
Avalanch = Band of the Hawk
Jenova = God Hand
Virtually all Japanese media takes influences from Jojo, which of course Berserk ripped off and made super dark and gritty, which is what Final Fantasy VII is ripping off.
I was born in 1990
>He only knows him as "the guy who threw him into the reactor." He doesn't know his name, and they have no shared history beyond that short, weird confrontation.
That's not true, Sephiroth was paying attention to Zack and Cloud in the truck, that's why he has the "How does it feel to be back in your hometown" line when they first arrive. It's certainly fair to say that Sephiroth doesn't care about Cloud or who he is at that point since he's just a grunt, but he's definitely not just the guy who threw him into the reactor.
Honestly, how can they do a full game with only midgar without either padding it to hell and back or making it really fucking short for a jrpg, either way those aren't good options. I just don't see it surpassing the original.
Is it with playing FFVII before the remake? I’ve always been lazy about checking out older RPGs since it takes so long and the “remaster” looks like ass, but I love turn based RPG games and October looks a little slow for new games
>You really think it's still alive to control people?
You can't have it both ways on Jenova. Either she's some sort of strange, distributed entity (who can function without a head), or her head had nothing to offer Sephiroth. Or her cells, for that matter. I mean, ultimately it's strange that people will take for granted that a cell sample from Jenova gives Sephiroth all this power, and that Sephiroth "has control over Jenova," and then also say that Jenova is dead.
yes now get out before spoilers
What the fuck is wrong with Aries' face? Her eyes are like two inches too high on her face.
You do realize that it's not Sepiroth, right? It's Cloud. It's the little Sepiroth in Cloud's head that you Omnislash to death at the end of the game. Obviously Cloud knows who Cloud is, so obviously so does this "Sepiroth".
Her mouth is open
And? So? You don't even know WHAT that wing is exactly based on the original game. So the devs are free to give it any lore background they want. Also "ONE WINGED ANGEL" has become an iconic title for Sephiroth due to the soundtrack of the same name. Explain to me what proof you have that the wing is unrelated to Sephiroth or JENOVA and instead just some "random mutation" or whatever you want to call it. Else the devs can just fill in the blanks however they want.
97
yes, go go go, get the fuck out and never come back to these threads until you're done. the less you know the better. also the PC version has fucked up midi music so emulate or something
>Final Fantasy is just one big JoJo reference - Yea Forums
they are fine it is just open mouth and angle. It isn't much different than Jessie's and Biggs' faces
They could work it to say by coincidence Sector 7 was bleeding money so they made the plans to destroy it. And by happenstance they discover Avalanche have their base there.
>This thing didn't happen in the original game
>UM YES IT DID
>No, it didn't
>UH WELL IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYWAY PLEASE CUM IN MY FACE NOMURA-SAN
I never said they can't do it, I'm saying they shouldn't because it's trash, only trash and nothing but trash, and it has been since the compilation became a thing.
Compilation will probably be IN this game, user. The reason they said it's not canon is because they can now put it directly into FF7.
Please work on your reading comprehension.
>wondering why the company that has made nothing but shit for 15 years is making shit now
We may never know, user.
Because this shitty remake is episodic garbage. Sephiroth doesn't appear in the game till the flashback in Kalm.
>The screen takes on a static-like visual and audio distortion when people mention things about Clouds past
This kind of thing was neat in MGS4, I hope they show stills of Cloud's past like that.
doesn't matter I never played a ff game at all
They did in the original, I think. I hope they just don't go overboard.
>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
Nice headcanon. It's a fact that we see Cloud's "Spirit" leaving his body and also a fact that "something is still blocking holy from activating". It makes absolutely no sense that this is just a random illusion that Cloud gets at the 11th hour. Symbolic of what you describe, yes. But very clearly Cloud is actually backtracking his spiritual connection with Sephiroth/JENOVA and turns the table on them (for the first time, I might add) and erases Sephiroth (who was still interfering with the activation of Holy) from the livestream, making Holy able to finally activate, which then still isn't enough, but gets fixed via Aerith in the lifestream directing the lifestream itself to push back meteor and save the world.
"Lol it's just a random illusion" makes no sense whatsoever.
>the original FF7 has some of the best foreshadowing in any piece of Japanese media
Citation needed
christ that will probably be the ending to the whole second "episode"
I hope they remove some of the more anime weeb elements and make it more grounded.
It's "foreshadowing" isn't even slightly good though.
Because Sephiroth being largely absent from the game overall until the final third was stupid and made him feel shallow and half-baked
Haha yeah Tseng just illusioned himself to near-death before Cloud even gets to the temple.
>Virtually all Japanese media takes influences from Jojo, which of course Berserk ripped off
What in the ungodly fuck are you talking about
oh shi can you tell me exactly how and why the new things happen, their execution and overall synergy with facts about the original story?
fucking retard
If you can't even tell me how these things work in the plot with 100% accuracy, the best you can say is you are worried you tortanic fag
Sephiroth is dead the whole fucking game you stupid faggot. That was a plot twist.
the foreshadowing that Cloud wasn't Cloud is very good
Yes but why didn't Jenova control Sephiroth earlier? Why does she wait until he learns who she is? Sephiroth is in the driver's seat
ACKSHUALLY it's not Sephiroth.
:^)
and you think that still won't happen? if anything this plot twist works better if we actually get to see Sephiroth at a better pace throughout the game and have that Jenova reveal dropped
except he was still in the game you dumb fuck, it just wasn't actually him
>AC's story was shit
>DoC's story was shit
>CC's story was shit
>B-but this time it will be different!
Is it really TORtanic when you're going to crash into the same iceberg for the fourth time?
That was the best decision they could do, with how they established him through his reputation and Cloud's flashback. But we all know that all that subtlety will vanish in the remake.
>and you think that still won't happen?
Wouldn't surprise me.
It's not an "illusion", it's the massive amount of Jenova cells that Cloud got jammed into him. It's Cloud literally overcoming Sephiroth's influence over him.
seeing the sword in Shinra president and the zolom in a giant spike was pretty good
Not as cool as stupid ghosts, forced rivalry and black feathers!
That's when Cloud was pretending to be a cripple, right? It's been awhile since I played it.
Jenova seems to have been in suspended animation all the way until Cloud sees her in the Shinra Building, which caused her to wake up.
No, at the beginning in the game there are some times where Cloud bends over and has a weird freakout.
When Cloud is a cripple we don't see inside of his head at all until Tifa goes inside of his mind literally
>foreshadowing
That word is just being thrown around in this thread.
I think you're confusing "subtlety" with "lack of information"
FFVII didn't properly explore either Sephiroth or Jenova, their relationship, motives, or goals.
To the point where literally right now in this thread people are arguing about what was actually happening.
FFVII's plot in its original state is frankly kind of a mess. The poor utilization of its villains chief among its mistakes.
>goddess statues
The warring triad
why are you screen grabbing my reddit posts, you fucking asshole?
it is foreshadowed though what are you talking about
That leaves why you see Cloud's "Spirit" literally leaving and flying off of his body into who knows where (likely the lifestream), since if it really was in his mind, it'd be portrayed differently, e.g. Cloud collapsing or something, showing that he has a last "internal conflict" or something like that, but that didn't happen.
There's also the issue of Holy.
And finally it's much more badass to think that Cloud managed to turn the tables on Sephiroth who mindraped him several times throughout the game, and execute poetic justice on him by using the Sephiroth's own instrument of torture (JENOVA cells) to trace his Spirit and screw over Sephiroth's last ditch effort to execute his Meteor plan.
One thing that gets me mad is everyone trying to shitpost about it being "mash square to win" when pretty much everyone who is giving out reviews of the demo have said its not that at all. Square attacks barely do damage and its only for building a little amount of stagger and building ATB for your real moves.
Also pressing Square with different timings will make Cloud do different moves. Like evidently if you delay a third square press, Cloud will do a launcher that is otherwise he wouldn't do you are just mashing your attack strings. Changing modes with triangle on Cloud also changes his stats and how he attacks as well
foreshadowing is normally light implications to a revelation of value, cloud not being cloud is actually extremely weak, and it's "foreshadowing" is extremely weak too.
>Gave barret a shirt and covered his face
Where's my censorship rants bois
Zoomers need a clearly defined main villain or their Ritalin addled brains lose interest.
It'd be interesting if it's possible to follow-up certain combos with ATB moves that have some sort of syngergy with each other, e.g. a regular attack combo that lauches an enemy into the air, followed by Braver. IIRC something like that happened to someone in Dood's Demo group, where somehow the attack launched an enemy across to the other side of the reactor or something (interesting ragdoll physics).
is that why kingdom hearts got so convoluted?
There ARE light implications to that, though. Tifa's dad's line in Kalm where he confirms he's actually talking to Cloud and then tells him to stay away from his daughter is an example of this. In hindsight, why would he ask if Cloud was Cloud if everyone was excited to see Cloud? Why would he tell Cloud to fuck off if he's a successful top member of SOLDIER? This is all in a line in all likelihood most players didn't even see.
No, that was due to bad writing.
>pretty much everyone who is giving out reviews of the demo have said its not that at all.
Game journalists are fucking morons.
You are mashing square to build ATB. It's a ATB game with pointless button mashing because ADHD ridden retards can't sit still for 3 seconds while a bar fills up. The ironic part is combat looks slower and looks like it takes longer than the turnbased original. Scorprion boss was 5 minutes in the original, in the remake it is a multiphase cutscene ridden boss that will probably be 10+ minutes long.
Proof that it's just horny permavirgin waifufags that don't actually care about censorship.
Sony hasn't been censoring men
Kingdom Hearts doesn't establish the identity of its main villain until the fifth game
And now that that saga's over there is no clearly-defined villain heading into the next arc
But Barret tho
Let me see
>tifa
>pool of interest: 100% of men on earth
>black man
>pool of interest: black women, mudsharks
Explain to me why would anybody bother listening to what the latter wants?
I imagine most players did see it but didn't think about the implications of the line since there was so much else going on. It's a good piece of foreshadowing along with the scene with Cloud's mom which makes more sense when you realize she was comforting him about not making it into SOLDIER and that he should stay away from Tifa and get a nice older GF.
Well if you guys can pretend to care about representation of women that have breasts so large that looks like a circus act I can pretend to care about Barret's bare chest.
I mean, it's only fair right? Since you're just doing it for smut and to increase her bust beyond her canon size and I'm doing it to piss you off, both not giving a shit about the game
it's actually zack
Wouldn't people instead associate that with distrust against Shinra first?
When I read it I just thought he didn't want Cloud seducing his daughter like the stereotypical father. He has to trust Shinra a little or he wouldn't have his daughter be their guide.
The foundation for this sort of this looks intrinsic to how they designed the combat system so it looks real fun
466323924
not worth the(you), fucking brainlet
Because americans need to see the villain early in order to retain interest.
>Single black feather falling
YIKES!
>Destroying Sector 7 seems more like something that would have to be planned weeks in advance to ensure it doesn't accidently cause Shinra HQ to collapse too
The city is actually already designed specifically to allow them to destroy any sector as needed. All they do to destroy Sector 7 is trigger the "Emergency Plate Release".
What confuses me is how the fuck this got approval
>"Fuck you I can do whatever I want"
Probably an actual quote.
Imagine being involved in the planning of Midgar
>young Shinra President and his board room looking at a plan for the city
>alright, it looks almost perfect but-
>but what, sir?
>but where's the button I can press to make one fourteenth of the city collapse on itself?
cringe
>mfw sonyfriends have to buy a new console to play part 2 and PC master race doesn't
>pcfriends don't because they can only watch it on youtube
I'm playing through it right now and thats not too dissimilar to what happens in the game. It's more cool cause it's presented in a weird way. As a first timer playing it's not at all subtle that something;s wrong with Cloud's memories.
In fac tthe game literally has a static sound effect and weird skip happen when Cloud realizes he's not acting like he's supposed to and snaps back to being "tough" when he defends Arieth.
So it sounds pretty similar actually.
>mad because he won't have the SIICCK FFVIIRemake PS5
>CURRENT YEAR + 4
>still no PC2
>KH3 in 2018
>VIIR in 2019
How do they keep doing it? Must feel good to be winners.
I think they're doing all this heavy handed fanservice because a) everyone already knows the plot of FF7 and b) it's episodic so they need to do things like introduce Sephiroth and Cloud's madness earlier
Bruh, even 13 had better foreshadowing.
Dumbasses
you'd be surprised, I know lots of people who know jack shit about it
we have been living in a bubble
What if they finish the base story with the second "episode" and then do Advent Children in the third?
>Final Fantasy Remake: Part III
>open up the box and it's literally just a Blu-ray disc of Advent Children Complete
Probably. Without some delving into this lore, you can't create much more substance in a game contained within Midgar.
I'm convinced the whole plot of this first episode will be to foster a true sense of hatred for the atrocities and damage Shinra has caused. That, and create a character bond with the "ideal" version of Cloud.
Can't unsee
>Midgar is literally half the original story in the remake
uh
>Advent Children Complete: Final ReMIX
FTFY
Reminder that there is going be a ton of shit that won't return and that can never be done again today.
