80% of digimon games just aren’t fun. The World series is extremely niche and obtuse making it hard for new players to get into, and the handful of Pokemon-esque ‘collect your favourites’ RPGs are mediocre at best. And the other games outside of cyber sluts and the newer world games are just straight trash

The evolutionary lines make less sense to me. The names are harder to remember. The premise of a digital world doesn't really hold my interest.

Pokemon games are good in theory, and there's a big chance you'll enjoy your first one, but every one after that will feel repetitive and samey. The story is barebones, cliche, and predictable, and the gameplay is slow and trivial, the games can easily be beaten just by spamming A in battles. I'm not saying Digimon games are better, but Pokemon games are ridiculously overrated.

They are acknowledging adventures because of the nostalgia baiting and the aniversary of the series since they have been trying to push it to older fans for a while, there isn't much to do with it after they release that ending for the series soon, hopefully they will focus on other series after that, I don't think there isn't much to do with tamers too since the series ended up on a high note but who knows what could happen.

Bigger emphasis on story
In addition that, every mon has its own signature attack to help it stand out, and can learn around 5/6 generic moves. They all also have a unique ability, like Pokemon
You can collect every mon without the need to trade, and collecting mons is not based on Pokeball RNG, but by scan data which goes up every time you encounter a mon
You can change encounter rates without the need for items
Battles are standard 3 vs 3, there's no real doubles or singles battles
You can hold 11 Digimon in your party
No EV/IV autism or breeding, if you want specific moves, just about any mon can become any other mon through enough chained evolutions

it depends on what you look for, a lot of people tend to like World 3 and Cyber sluts better, re digitize and next order are also pretty great on the raising Digimon side of things.

Next 0rder is weird in that you actually get a lot more stats from doing battles than you do from playing the dumb training mini game

Try taking on the Psychemon in the desert areas once your Digimon are strong enough to not die to a small breeze. You will get like +30 in all stats every single battle for quite a while. That should help you unlock things and make your time much easier

Most of the people didn't got turned off by the humans in tamer but the idea of then becoming digimon themselves, it was silly even by the frachise standar, the human characters in that series weren't that much developed either.

But the damage was already done once they went back to the old formula with Savers, even though it tried to go for the appeal of the monsters interacting with humans as much they could, that's the blessing but also problem with the franchise, they aren't affraid of experimenting new ideas way too much.

The Digimon games changes genre and gameplay mechanics with each game, nothing really sticks with this series which is nice since you can just jump into any game with a fresh start and even with games like the Story games, even those have different mechanics.

I don't see where they feel that cheap compared to pokemon, from what i've seen the cyber sleuth games feel like they had much more effort and soul into then than fucking the current sword and shield games.

It's moving past X5 that is the problem since that requires DigiXros with Shoutmon DX. If you got to X5 and it works like normal jogress, then that means you'd have to devolve it all the way back to normal Shoutmon and you just wasted a Dorulumon, Ballistamon, Starmon group and Sparrowmon in getting it there, and you're going to have to find another one of each of those and get them to max friendship to get to where you want to go

Yea, nah. The good part of digimon is that any digimon can be trained to ultimate level, not be relegated to a select few moves and stats.

Check the PS1 games and see which one suits you the most, none of them are related so you don't have to play one to understand the other. Also check the DS games (except Championship).
Then the newer stuff, Cyber Sleuth, Hacker's Memory, Re:Digitize and Next Order.

With Eaters, it's generally best to use anything with a special move that does piercing damage or has fixed damage. Their defense is really high and status effects don't really work on them IIRC (though if they do, use the one that pixellates them, obviously)

Story games have multiplayer, so they need to have actual competitive balance and not have whoever has the best ability or signature move be the only viable Digimon

If you're at the point where Ultimates are on the table, then Belphemon RM is probably going to serve you better than Lilithmon since it's a bit more durable. Ouryumon and War Greymon are solid choices too

Hacker's Memory's story is heavily dependent on your knowledge of the first game. They happen concurrently, and almost every character, event and location from the first game shows up in it, often without explanation. It's not self-contained.

Because I was already a digimon kid growing up. Never really cared about pokemon until RSE came out and lost interest not long afterwards. Did still play the games off and on (even as far back as Red) but outside of Sapphire it's only ever been a passing interest. Digimon was my goddamn life as an 8 year old though. I think I understand how some famous people tend to leave the business when the success is too much for them. You can beat the game without megas.
Okuwamon is busted in the game because his attack reduce the Defense of every oponent digimon BEFORE damage calculation, so you can cheese every battle spaming his main attack, Kuwagamon has the single target version so is still good while you wait.
If you play just remember to increase the FPS becuase the animations take too long.

They give away free 4/5 or 5/5 eggs through login bonuses pretty often, which can drastically reduce the "getting a worthwhile Digimon" grind at least.
And there have been quite a few events that are just shit like "get 20 common drops per day" that reward Burst Mode items, making getting your final evolution stages much easier.
It's still a massive grind intended to push you toward paying, but it is getting ever-so-slightly better for f2p players.

For dw4 you really had to be a hardcore fan and have 1 or 2 lads to play it. 4 player madness was quite fun, but only if there was one dude that knew the game well. Also, it was the first time to see and play as alphamon or hercules kabuterimon.

Mameo was the DW1 protagonist and the final boss is possessed by the DW1 antagonist. The original threat in N0 being random digimon turning into Machindramon is a thing from the post-game of DW1 as well. Also the Frost Sanctuary in N0 is literally the same one from DW1. They are different digital worlds, but the Ice Sanctuary from DW1 ended up getting tossed in the trash and somehow ended up in the N0 Digital World, according to Mameo.

Also some other direct references include a coliseum battle against a Waruseadramon, Ogremon, Gabumon, and Agumon which is a reference to a DW1 subplot.

Otherwise that's about it I guess for connections. Outside of a few remixed tracks that is.

Otherwise just check what the others play like and see if they appeal to you.

Cyber Sleuth games are basically Dawn/Dusk with actual animation, and actual story and a billion QoL improvements

Its niche as hell even more so then when it came out. But the first two shows are classics if you ask me. As far as the model kits are concerned. They are still making them, the High End Master Model line is the most current. Also there is a new zoids show called Zoids Wild. Subs are non existent last I checked, there is supposed to be a game coming out for it, dont know when thats coming out.
