Enter the Gungeon

This is free on the Epic Store and I've heard good things about it. Is it worth going through the Epic Store to get?

It's just a launcher like steam origin uplay fucking pussy

Its pacing is horrible and too many of the weapons are just reference meme guns instead of things that are actually satisfying and useful

No reason no to take it, it's drm free so just use a shortcut to the .exe instead is the epic games shortcut

Pirate it instead.

I have it on Steam too, just claim it, it's pretty good!

Yeah its fun, if you're super into hating epic I'd just pirate the game or something.

>here's free shitty indie game, bro
All free Epic Games Store games fucking suck.
Maybe if they actually gave good, solid games that weren't under $20 that anyone could afford then maybe would join their shit platform.

I don't really mind hate Epic like a lot of anons do but it's just that the whole affair regarding privacy spooked me

It's ok, but it's so slow and so many trash guns.

also: where the fuck are all the keys goddammit?

tiananmen square
it's worth it and anyone who says otherwise is misinformed

>it's so slow
What? Each run is like half an hour only

>have the game 100%'ed on my switch
>friends still accuse me of cheating to get it
Why the fuck do people think this game is hard? I unlocked all of the secret characters even with joycons that had analog stick drift.

Gameplay pacing, not run duration.

I think that ETG requires the player to be somewhat skilled in the realm of bullet hell shooters to make any form of progress. So, if that is your cup of tea then go for it.

When you start to get a little bored of it, install Mod the Gungeon. You can do some pretty neat shit with it.

There isnt anything better from this small genr e right now i guess so yes

>I think that ETG requires the player to be somewhat skilled in the realm of bullet hell shooters to make any form of progress
No it doesn't, you just iframe dodge roll through 90% of everything instead of actually avoiding bullets

>this small genre
>small
Are you high? This has been the indie meme genre for years now, there are absolutely LOADS of these shooter roguelikelike games.
Also Nuclear Throne is better

>each run is half an hour
Maybe if you die on floor 3 without visiting the secret floors. A good, complete run of the game usually takes 50 minutes to an hour and 20; and god forbid if you get Clone because that's basically a second run (and all your items and guns barely help speed things up).

Nuclear throne gets boring after 20h, too repetitive yawn

Roguelites aren't appealing to me but I want to play the lightgun cabinet they announced at the Devolver Direct. I'm willing to travel to a fucking Dave & Busters or wherever the fuck to play one because I really like lightgun games.

Nuclear Throne is a good one, it plays like a faster Enter the Gungeon with less RNG bullshit and tighter bullet hell aspects. Melting and Steroids are the best characters and I will fight anyone who disagrees (Rogue is good too).
Monolith is also a great game in the same genre. Just the right amount of difficulty. The sfx are top notch and the OST is GOAT.

And rolling through bullets isn't avoiding them?

Nuclear Throne is better

Dodge rolling is a last resort, the best way to get good is to try dodging bullets without dodge rolling because 9 times out of 10 you end up rolling through bullets only to end up hitting other bullets that you can't steer clear of anymore.

In the context of "needing to be good at bullet hell shooters," no, it isn't. Shmups don't give you 90% uptime iframes.

Getting repetitive after 20h is not a bad thing though.

Optimal way to play is to almost never dodge roll, shitters arent allowede to criticise games difficulty

>because 9 times out of 10 you end up rolling through bullets only to end up hitting other bullets that you can't steer clear of anymore.
If you're a shitter, maybe
If you position properly and don't dodge roll into stuff like an idiot you can be using it a lot to safely avoid a lot of the game. The only places this doesn't consistently work is boss patterns that fill the screen with a steady mesh of bullets.

>Optimal way to play is to almost never dodge roll, shitters arent allowede to criticise games difficulty
Yeah you're right, you shouldn't be criticizing the difficulty

But getting boring is

You might as well just pirate it

Honestly don't like it. Getting a new gun never feels exciting and the RNG is so watered down that I never had that gambling feel that I look for when picking up a roguelike. Also what's the point of health upgrades if you almost never get enough health drops to fill your bar? Some with keys and chests, it's extremely rare I would ever get enough keys to open that shit.
I generally like frustrating games but something about gungeon just doesn't click with me.

>slow pacing
A complete run (beating Lich) takes 50-60 minutes. Do you retards have adhd?

Lmao if you think the game is too slow, you can increase your out of combat speed in the options to travel faster between rooms.
And if even THAT is to slow, you can unlock a NPC that speeds your game up even more.

If you cant do a double digit lich streak youre a shitter and your opinion is that of a newbie, worthless

>no health pickups
Imagine getting hit that much

>not knowing what pacing means
retard

Pure shmups are the most boring shit on earth and thath why gungeon and isaac are more fun to play and stay exciting for much longer
Strong rogue lite elements>pure shooters

Yeah I'm definitely bad, but that wasn't really my point. Health upgrades just feel worthless since the game wants you to only get hit 2-3 times a floor anyway.
