In a hypothetical TF3 situation, would you prefer the old cast, give or take some recastings per the availability of VAs, or would you prefer a new set of 9 mercs and supporting cast(which could include the TF2 crew)?

Unfortunately most of the voice actors would have to be replaced. As much as i would love to see more of the old mercs i think it would be a better move to just write new ones.

Different. Let's face it, TF2's ground design is so solid that it spawned a whole culture around it, there is no way any imitation would come close and not simply be forgotten in favour of the original. By trying something else the worst they'll get is "This new class/character is too similar to the old one" instead of "You ruined this class trying to update it" or "It's literally the same as before, so why bother with this when i have invested so much in the one before"

It's hard to say, anything new will always be compared to the old, and the characters are so beloved and developed by this point, it's crazy to think of a Team Fortress game without the mercs. I would be okay with new classes in the game, only a handful tho, we don't need another Overwatch on our hands where every character only exists to pander to a small niche of people to maximise sales.

This, this is what irks me so much about Overwatch, the game is so unironically soulless, the developers stated that the characters were designed visually in order to appeal (pander) to all different types of people, it just reeks of a corporate product

I believe Rick May (soldier) got throat cancer. Gary Schwartz (heavy and demo) is really old, heavy sounds noticeably worse in the new mvm lines. I think Grant Goodeve (engineer) retired, he was already replaced by Nolan North in expiration date. There's a reason why scout medic spy and engi were the only ones with significant roles in Expiration Date, and scout was i believe the only one of the 9 with any speaking lines in the Jungle Inferno video. The scout voice actor Nathan Vetterlein streams on twitch.

That sucks. I was aware of Soldier, I'm pretty sure he had a new VA in expiration date (or at least for part of it) but I didn't realise that the rest of the cast were so old. I noticed that Scout got far more voice lines over the last few years, I suppose it's because he so much younger and active online, heck, people sometimes get him to work on fan projects and shit.

Very Old Flare Pistol, V.O.F.P. Looks like pic related, based upon old flare gun designs which were named Very pistols after their inventor, so it's a pun.
Does 15% more damage at 35, and instead of critting on burning targets, it crits on launched targets, including airblasted ones.
So it replaces the Reserve Shooter and Pyro can no longer equip that.
