I've been waiting for hand drawn art style zelda literally since the fucking late 90's when I discovered ALTTP after playing OOT.

A game done in some kind of reproduction of the original 80's games print artwork would be fucking kino, I'm still holding out we'll get this for the inevitable Zelda II remake/revist/sequel

Yeah. This one is a quick stop-gap, but Nintendo will definitely use it as a starting point for a new 2D Zelda and probably also for a Zelda Maker judging by the new mode.

I don't see why not, they can do it by letting you put rooms in a grid like Link's Awakening is doing and let you choose how they connect, items to find in the dungeon and use, locked rooms and unlock conditions, featured enemies and so on, and it'd have the same upload condition as Mario Maker that you first have to beat the dungeon yourself to make sure everything works. Of course it would be a more complex experience than making a Mario level, but it could work and tons of people would get really into it.

Actually Aonuma said in an interview that they decided to remake Link's Awakening in the first place because they were experimenting with the dungeon editor tool and wanted it to be attached to a full game, and Link's Awakening made sense since its dungeons were made of rooms one screen wide that they could use as a base.

i mean ALBW wasn't that long ago and realistically speaking 3d zelda development time is only going to get longer and longer since the expectation is that the series is going full open world from now on. They'll probably start doing 2d games more to keep the series relevant between 3d games.
