It's easy to blame diversity but I think a bigger issue is just the stagnation of technology for gaming. The "golden age" for most people was around the time hardware advancements kept making big leaps resulting in much better gameplay, but that doesn't really happen too often anymore, at least with "traditional" hardware.
It's why even long before VtMB2's announcement I had more hopes about playing VtMB in virtual reality at some point compared to any potential sequel. Constantly making sequels without new hardware letting you do something different is just going to result in trying to recapture the peak which doesn't really work.

To fix the combat they are going to have to change a good portion of the game, from level design, how weapons work, how disciplines work, how damage is inflicted, how the AI reacts to damage, how AI will position itself, and 9 months is not enough time to basically, rebuild the combat system.

I have no idea who the target audience for shit like that are supposed to be. Like, if you've played and liked the original, you probably a fan of traditional CRPGs, right? And if you're a fan, you probably play it seriously, without the ring of +500 ATK or the epic funny gnome hat. Right? And, if you haven't played the original or didn't like it, you have no idea what all that shit is or don't want to encounter it again, right? It just doesn't make any sense, why are they making this game and for whom?
They're like Mass Effect. You can make some different choices in different scenes but you're playing the same character every single time and nothing will meaningfully change. Not even the gameplay really changes based on how you build your character. Compare this to something like old Fallout where depending on your build you could sneak through the final levels and plant bombs to end the threat without ever meeting the antagonist, or go in guns blazing or just talk your way through.

The graphics are solid. The texture quality is extremely subpar, they're trying to hide it with heavy occlusion and washed-out volumetric fog.
Funny thing is volumetric particles are one of the first things that always gets downgraded in a game. Also the lighting is basic, but atmospheric and deliberate enough in their placement that it feels better.

When you begin the game at the character creator you get to pick your gender, either man or woman as is on almost all games.
But in VTMB2, you'll have a slider from male to female. And when you become a vampire, you'll get a second gender slider. As Ellison put it "you might want to reinvent yourself once you become a vampire and that includes your gender"

Did you look at the image I posted? It tells you how different combos have different uses and that you can also block. The combat isn't as polished or stylish, but I actually find it reminding me of the first Devil May Cry.
I know for a fact that a lot of people don't even bother to put points into combat stats, so I doubt they actually learned how the melee system works. There are some legitimate criticisms about the later parts of the game getting unbalanced but the melee itself is actually fun and pretty well designed.

You could do that in Morrowind too. Most major cities would get listed on your map and you'd have an indicator of where you were. But it sucks when the quest is to search for something and you don't even have to actually search, you're just being lead along like a dog on a leash because of the quest marker.
The feeding animation's arm broke, the vampire is running and jumping off buildings in front of humans without a single masquerade violation, they had to include a compass and waypoint markers because vampires all have magical HUD powers now, the faces are all stiff, and so much more is just wrong.
More than lackluster, this gameplay demo has sent me from pretty hyped, to genuinely concerned.
But most games with markers don't even do that. They usually lead you to the place and say "look around"

And all that is very dependent on the type of society. Again if the vast majority of people had autism, autism probably wouldn't exist. I'd be considered the normal accepted way to behave. I mean you don't even have to imagine scenarios. In societies where cannibalism is normal, not being a cannibal would be deemed as abnormal behavior.
