The Japanese voice acting is just better all around and Ishikawa Yui particularly strikes the character much more successfully.
The inflection and tone of voice in English doesn't do an especially good job at showing the conflict within 2B as a whole. She always sounds upset, blunt and/or crabby. In Japanese, she's resigned to keeping her wants and desires buried within herself because she's not allowed to express them. It creates a striking contrast when she goes from sounding defeated and resigned to her duty to fighting for what she believes in, when she can't hold it in and has to let it out. Like with your spoilered example, it makes sense. How can 2B help with that when internally, she's as fucked up and helpless about that?
Another example would be 9S's playful responses to 21O, which miss the point in English again. "Yeah, yeah" "One affirmation will suffice" "Fine... [sulkingly]" vs "Hai, hai [cheerful]" "Haiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii [just as cheerful]". It shows that he plays around with the rules and even when told off, he's going to still push the rules as far as he can without actually breaking them. There's a big difference between sulky got told off by robot mom and cheeky little shit.

And let's not even talk about the various extras and secondary characters who are barely better than your average 90's dub. Honest answer is that it depends on the game and depends on the character. Still, it's rare for a VA in either language to actually stand out as great in a performamce, but Japs (usually) have far less noticable fuckups than Eng dubs, but also have godawful voice direction (which they think is good), so it's a tossup. Though if the dub uses Jap honorifics I drop it immediately even if I prefer the English voices.
Automata is literally the only game where I recommend the dub, and not because the sub is bad

Dubfag here, you raise a good point. There's a musical quality to a lot of Japanese performances, they tend to embellish their deliveries with cute little lyrical nonsense vocables. Like jazz scat singing. That's why the FLCL dub works so well, because the English cast emulated some of those oddities, which are otherwise rare to non-existent in the English lexicon.

It's a game with a lot of critical plot details left unsaid, hidden away to be extrapolated and figured out. For instance the way 2B talks is different between Dub and Sub. The impact of the changes are really overblown though, there's nothing dramatically lost between versions.
