Divinity Original Sin 2

Origin or Custom?
I kind of want to main a fem lizard just because they're aesthetic as fuck, but I don't want to miss out on an origin story by doing so.
But I also want the Red Prince in my party because he's cool.
But I don't want two lizards in my party.

You're bound to miss some origin stories, so pick which interests you most

There are 6 companions and a party limit of 4, so you can go through all their stories in 2 playthroughs whether you go with an original or preset character.

I don't think I'm ever going to beat this game desu.
I keep restarding because I'm so indecisive about everything from race to gender to origin to build.
Furthest I ever got was Reaper's Coast.

I did grab the Fort Joy Respec mod, holy fuck that was a godsend.

Eh you can respec as much as you want once you get the Lady Vengeance anyway.

Play it coop with 3 bros and all custom characters
Make your own story

Origin characters are better

Custom, I like the custom voices and it's fun to pretend be friends with Ibn and RedPrince
Sebille needs to stop being so thirsty for my lizard-skeleton's nonexistant cock

She's really into dead lizards.
For some reason. No clue why. Bit odd innit.
I've tried this before but my friends are all flakes. Furthest we ever got was the Alexander fight (which I'm honestly surprised about).

My friend and I are running through this absolutely blind. Are you meant to suck absolute dick for like the first 20 hours, or are we just horseshit at this game?

Whats a good pair of builds to start my first lone wolf game with?

Attached: 1559665031386.jpg (640x451, 55K)

Grab the party increase mod and one of the difficulty increase mods and just take either all of the origin characters or 7 and your own character.

I could barely handle having even two fucking characters, how the fuck is he going to micromanage seven of those fuckers

Fort Joy and the Marsh can be a little tough without some prep or absurdly good builds for sure.

>pick elf
>go lone wolf with my friend
>rogue skill for two more ap
>executioner/free move for even more
>use their OP racial to btfo all enemies in one turn
APlets don’t know what they’re missing

Elves racial skill is totally OP as fuck, and I find myself missing its crutchiness if I don't have an Elf in my party.
Only other decent skill is Human's Encourage.
Rest are fucking garbage.

I'm trying really hard to understand the point of this image

I think it has no point, other than it's a bit trippy because your eyes can only see a few of the many black dots at the same time

By not having crippling autism.

Scoundrel and Hydromancer/Warrior support

If I use an Origin character am I just missing out on one companion, or does it change the RPing with other companions to be from his perspective?

If you have an elf be sure to give it at least polymorph 3 for skin graft
it resets both their racial AND adrenaline and no, doubling up on their use does not double the penalties

>Origin or Custom?
Origin makes for a more interesting game, in my opinion. You get a unique voice and a storyline to play for your character, aside from the overarching one.

loss

encourage is only good early game, lategame it kind of drops off
and the undead "play dead" racial is actually pretty good if you're a summoner, can get your arse out of tight situations without losing to much damage

Playing as an Origin unlocks a character-specific set of side quests (that tend to have more going for them than if they were just companions).

Origins have their own unique dialog choice tags.
And some Companions do have unique interactions with other Origins. For instance, Red Prince and Sebille.

summoner/hunstman staying at range, with a poly/warfare melee guy is fun and strong. any build can be good as long as you have mobility spells like phoenix jump or wings or cloak and dagger or the huntsman jump spell. also adrenaline is op af. also make your summoner/huntsman glass cannon if you like, since it's easy to stay away from enemies as a ranged. make good use of height advantage damage bonus

yeah unless you know which spells to prioritise first, it can be tough. mobility and cc are king. it'll click

I wish 2/2 was more viable on Tactician.
Physical is cool and all of the builds just start to feel samey since you're focusing with a bit of Scoundrel and a lot of Warfare for all of them.
Also Rogues fucking suck desu.
Taking a Necro/Geo/Hydro/Pyro Support tank is really nice though. Fucking INFINITE buffs for my 2handing Warrior.

also Lohse and Fane have access to some interesting interactions/lore that are fairly unique compared to the other characters

yeah this is a very strong build, skin graft on top is truly op to the point of being cheesy

I did really like that for once, the gimmick spec (polymorph) was actually damn useful
usually they're sad jokes in rpgs

skim the game, it's highly overrated

Poly is fucking great.
Tantacle Lash is a god tier spell thats both amazing debuff and does more damage than a normal attack.
Horns are great, Medusa is great, the skin buffs are great, wings...

Put in what a rush as well for maximum over AP

>Origin or Custom?
Origin characters are all boring and add nothing of value outside of RP and Fane, and maybe Lohse.
Custom allows you to pick up both Scholar and Mystic tags to unlock basically everything in the game, but lacks some of the exclusive dialogue choices from the origin characters and bits and pieces of some of their quests, though it only really matters for Fane.

poly is incredible. tentacle, skin graft, wings, medusa, free stat points, it's excellent, just needs to be paired with other skills, it's more of a support school

>Nobody mentions apotheosis

it's late game and desu i don't use source skills much at all, they feel op and it's a pain to go refill your source after every big fight, i just kind of ignore source spells

eh, usually you don't really have the memory needed to take advantage of it properly
though I do wonder, does using thunderstorm twice override or double up on the effect?

>Pain to refill source
>When you have a free spell to restore your source and are surrounded by corpses after every fight
Fucking idiots

Lohse is damn fun when you get to truly call out the gods for the bitches they are
and I found that the jester tag adds a decent amount of content

it's bad though, consuming souls for power is evil, i rp as a good guy

Jose?

some of us don't really feel comfortable with, you know, draining people's souls

that reminds me, anyone done a path of blood run?

>picking cutom
>not befriending a based homeless for life

>I RP as a good guy
Most of the bodies dont have souls and the ones who do are white magisters or bad bosses that deserve to get eaten
Stop being a pussy

only area that doesn't have a fountain is nameless isle and how bad do you really feel for sucking the juice out of people with purge wands?

spoiler alert: every body has a soul, even if you can't talk to it
you're ripping them right out of the hall of echoes

Origin stories are cool but the main benefit to playing a custom is the source skill you get that sets up a protective dome is almost necessary at some points of the game. Of course having a merc in the party does the same thing.

Stone touch or whatever it's called and play dead are both very useful

Fire breath is okay for setting off chain reactions

>Most of the bodies dont have souls
>Literally all bodies replenish Source
They do though, what do you think souls are made of?
Why do you think bodies explode if you drain souls?

No they dont. Some souls will head to the hall right away after you kill them. A sworn minion will outright say so if you keep the three in the blackpits alive.
And there are cases of souls fucking off to the hall of echoes and their body is right next to you. Draining those corpses doesnt affect anything

Yea your god brings up a good point when source vampirism is introduced. You're a god, power is to be taken not given.

Attached: ZVtbKx8.png (1285x118, 21K)

I figured that the vampirism spell literally sucked every last bit of source present in the body out and concentrates it, atomizing the body in the process

yes it does, it's a canon fact that if you get source out of something, it's sucking out their soul juice

Charles manson desu.

Attached: 725273E2-39A5-456A-9D3C-D3B98618A45A.png (384x384, 158K)

>Yea your god brings up a good point when source vampirism is introduced.
Your "god" is a pitiful jobber who couldn't do shit against either you or the Voidwoken, they're literally Eternals that got way too high on Source and think they're big shots until you massacre them.

and given what we learn of the gods later, I'd say they can suck all the dicks

Speaking of Origins, who do you guys bring along with you?

I didn't like Lohse or Sebille at first, but they both grew on me once you realize one is actually a joker trying to hide her torment, and the other is actually a lot softer than she acts.
>YOU LIKE ME, YOU LIKE ME, YOU REALLY REALLY LIKE ME~

Wellp, guess he tried every known drug to man.

You can cast source vampirism on your dead companions then resurrect them no issues
You can kill Reimond in driftwood and use source vampirism on his corpse, yet his spirit will show up in arx
How the fuck do you explain that then?

>You can cast source vampirism on your dead companions then resurrect them no issues
wasn't that patched out in the definitive edition?

I can only stand Ifan or Beast, but I usually just take a custom merc now because Ifan and Beast are barely characters either way.

My first playthrough I used Sebille, everyone after I killed her when she threatened me. Lohse is my favorite companion, honestly don't care much for the rest.

everyone but Beast
god he's boring

I mean you can also kill all your companions in act 1 and they still show up on the lady vengeance

Story beats trump mechanics, unfortunately

Lolnope. Fight in the nameless isle, RP died and one of the gods used source vampirism on him. Resurrected him right after that, one source point poorer

>How the fuck do you explain that then?
Larian is incompetent, simple as that.
How do you explain Sebille's skellington in the trials somehow having a different hairstyle compared to all the others who retain their own?
How do you explain a bridge troll being unable to move over a line of cooking pots?
How do you explain teleporting characters away in the middle of a conversation not breaking into a fight?

Beast is a really annoying companion to have. Him not letting you turn in Lohar was beyond retarded I dropped him on the spot right there.

try it when they die without source points

>How do you explain teleporting characters and not breaking into a fight?
That actually does happen though

Having done most of all the characters origin quests (Beast's bugged out in Ark), the best party members are Lohse, Fane and Sebille

Ifan seems to only have one story quest and then when you meet Lucian immediately goes I WANT TO SHANK HIM
Princes story has 0 fucking character development in, it's just 'I want power, oh I got power, neat'
Beast is decent and interacts well with the main story, but suffers from stupid encounters and bugs

>How do you explain teleporting characters away in the middle of a conversation not breaking into a fight?
its fun, Larian does not patch out fun

doing another run atm, just got to driftwood, i'll try it out more this time

Some and some, you can teleport quite a few characters across the map if you're talking to them with another party member, the mage from DOS1 is a prime example as you can drop him on the fire witch

>custom undead dorf
>2h polymorph assfucker
>shit out damage for breakfast
>fuck horny lizard women for dinner
>pick up fane
>only fane
>kill everyone else
>tell fane to fuck off all the other eternals
>he asks if we wanna have some alone time below deck right before the end
>tell him im happy he thinks so highly of me but i don't swing that way
>sit on the chair and bumfuck everyone

Attached: 1534219881660.png (250x244, 88K)

You can make RP admit he's not suited for status of divine and somewhat break him out of his princely act
that said not being able to entirely turn him away from power is fairly realistic, dude was raised heir to an empire in addition to being their messiah, the biggest surprise is honestly that he still has anything resembling a conscience left

When do they patch in immersion?

zoomzoom

bgda was kino though tbf

decent amount of that to be had, people actually respond to skellingtons
plenty of rpg's don't do that

Was this before or after DE?
Apparently they made a lot of changes to Beast's story quest, and gave him a fuckload of dialog for everything.
Kind of makes me want to bring him along this time instead of Fane.

Tbh having Fane and Red Prince in the same party feels like smugness overload. Kind of grating.

even in DE, Beast is still the worst companion

i like ifan as main character, he just feels like a protagonist, all the others are too quirky

No elegant beautiful fem lizard origin
No big breasted mommy dwarf origin
Reeeee

>Apparently they made a lot of changes to Beast's story quest
Not really, Beast is essentially the same outside of a few extra lines in Arx iirc.
You can bring him along, but outside of letting you remove your party's collars a bit earlier on Fort Joy there's no reason to have him in your party, he doesn't add anything of value to the story, even if you play as him.
A shame because he's one of the less grating characters.

and bonus points playing as him is that you don't necessarily have to go full tardrage against Alexander

Micromanaged 4 party members (used to play mutli with buddies) uhh. Somehow enjoying THIS makes me feel like I have autism desu.

I miss the first game's crafting though :(

Why the fuck does beast defend a drudanae smuggler and underground mob leader who was smuggling illegal weapons? Because he felt deathfog was too much for him? What the fuck

Anyone else take the godking covenent, kill all their partners for the shallowman and activate lone wolf, then renounce the covenant at the end of the game and ascend to divinity? Was a pretty fun sequence of events.

yeah lol. also idk if zaleskar or whatever his name is, gives you that OP as fuck crossbow in act 1, if you aren't playing as ifan. that thing carries me through act 1

>That OP af crossbow
>Sold it to corbin day to level it up
>Doesnt hold a candle to lvl 19 epic weapons let alone divine weapons
Damn it
Its such a cool crossbow too

>Why the fuck does beast defend a drudanae smuggler and underground mob leader who was smuggling illegal weapons?
1) They're both Dwarves
2) The Magisters are worse
3) Lohar clearly didn't want to dirty his hands despite fucking up big time
4) Lohar opposes Justinia
5) Beast isn't exactly a saint himself
Not hard to get.

what are some other unique things characters can get?
I know that Lohse gets a significant power boost to the inner demon skill

maladybros...

You guys using any mods?
MOMMY

god damn I wish you could upgrade items throughout the entire game
bunch of truly unique ones around that get outclassed way to quickly
only unique item that actually lasts a long ass time is the ring with a rune slot and that unique wand with a bunch of useful stats

Attached: 1534132891426.png (240x231, 49K)

also deathfog is just nuclear weapons, i'd say smuggling nukes is a bigger deal than smuggling drugs irl as well

>god damn I wish you could upgrade items throughout the entire game
You can, with mods.

Lohar didn't want to have anything to do with Deathfog though, he turns on Justinia precisely because he found out about the Deathfog and wants none of it on his conscience.

Nuking arx was satisfying. Had a fun pay off, I remember the music in the area being really good after you do it.

oh, should check that out
it's not like it would break that game that much, you can already crack it wide open with adrenaline/skin graft shenanigans

also green tea, jesus christ green tea is op as hell

>it's not like it would break that game that much
Oh it does, immensely so.

Attached: 1539154096079.jpg (489x489, 34K)

more than motherfucking green tea?

Late game using the unlimited source for 3 turns polymorph skill plus skin graph if appropriate was so fun

Honestly the level scaling is completely retarded anyways. Modding level upgrading is justified.
The fact that a constant upgrade method doesn't exist in a game where a single level can mean double and triple digit differences is retarded as all fuck.

yeah, i don't play without these 5-

infinite spirit vision (forgetting to turn it back on every 20 seconds and missing a bunch of quests is retarded)

potions give empty potion bottles (makes no sense for the bottle to disappear, and bottles are too scarce without the mod i found, it frustrated me)

let there be tooltips (best mod, highlights anything you can interact with, a lot of shit by default does not highlight)

toggle sprint (increases out of combat movement speed, doesn't affect combat in any way, it's a time saver for running around towns/backtracking)

free pet pal (gives pet pal talent for free, too much content to miss without it, but it's a waste of a talent point in terms of combat) as a sidenote, with this mod you can just respec and take the 'free pet pal' talent away, which will give you an extra talent point, it's a cheat, but i've never done this. there's other, better mods if you want to cheat (cheat commander)

Attached: 1552999527655.jpg (1920x1200, 290K)

You know that sword you find on top of the hill in act 1?
Upgraded at level 19/20 it gives you around +6 STR/+3 Warfare, iirc.
Basically any unique in the game becomes monstruosly powerful with the crafting overhaul mod, completely nulls your need to buy any non-unique piece of equipment at the shops too.

I think they just didn't want you having items with broken abilities like that one Two Hand sword with +30% crit the whole game.

oo spoilerino i didn't know you could do that. sounds fun. i never beat the game, even after 320 hours on steam, i'm addicted to restarting

could have even been a good use for source orbs
and you even have a god tier crafter onboard your ship (as a side note, the legendary swords was seriously disappointing)

i never had a problem with the gear not levelling up with you.. i feel like it's pretty standard in RPGs for early gear to suck, and to keep finding better gear (+5 platemail in throne of bhaal)

>Empty Potion bottles are too scarce
>When literally anything that can be opened or clicked on will give you one
I try hard to not use healing items and I end up with hundreds of empty bottles weighing me down every run. Wtf are you talking about?

I have free pet pal and toggle sprint, those other reccomendations sound great.

Guess I'll install em and restart.

Female Dwarf, Female Lizard, or Male Elf?

Not to mention the game starts dropping healing potions really consistently halfway through it.

But corbin day literally levels up all uniques you hand over to him. Unique weapons suck ass in spite of levelling up like that

idk it's just what i remember from my first couple tries playing. maybe i used a lot of potions. i could try playing without the mod again i guess, but either way i just feel like it's retarded for the bottle to just disappear on use

What in the goddamn fuck

Yea, I didn't know what to expect what I did it but it really does kill absolutely everyone in the area. Also puts deathfog in some annoying locations if your party member isn't an undead.

>corbin day
had to google him, turns out i've always forgotten he exists after i get him. i'll check him out this time

>Nuking Arx as sworn Fane
The bad thing is that it was the first thing I did in Arx
And it wasnt even my first playthrough. I effwctively locked myself out of possibly a dozen optional quests because of it
And you know what? I stuck with it. Sworn payoff is just too good man

I just hate how Sworn ends. You have to fight off Lucian and his companions while having your companions turn on you even if they are mercenaries AND you give up your access to unlimited source. I think if you survive long enough the God King steps in and helps but I never got that far, decided to use swornbreaker and kill both the godking's men and Lucian's to ascend instead.

Is it true you can kill Alexander at the tongue-cutting scene you first meet him at?

By using the death fog barrel you take at the ship. I think some madman on youtube actually did it without deathfog.

>killing alexander
ishygddt

That's too bad. All of them are flakes? I finished it with kind of a gimped party since I had two other friends the entire game.

I usually do. It's good exp and he deserves it, the means he used don't justify his ends.

Flesh Sacrifice + Elemental Arrows (Blood) + Archery is so fucking overpowered holy fuck
