Thing is, some (A lot) Mons are getting cut out from the game, meaning they arent coded in game. Its not that you cant got them from previous games, you cant get them at all in game.

I was never going to replace my Misdreavus.
If it's not catchable in the region, I want to go back through the region and train my second team with one.
If I can't have that, the game has no replayability for me, which is one of the big reasons I play Pokemon in the first place.

Lots of people breed new Pokemon especially for the new games - so you start the game with your starter and your level 1 baby that you transfer from the old games. It's one of the key components that's kept Pokemon afloat as the games have gotten gradually worse and more devoid of content - that at the very least, you could import whoever you wanted. The fucking Dynamax Pokemon with the dark swirl over it is a whole model by itself as shown in Treehouse. That's why you're seeing the meltdown on /vp/ which is obviously where the hardcore fans are. Shiny hunting, balltism, ribbons, gen-exclusive moves, shiny legendaries, the UBs, egg-move breeding etc - all of these required the ability to be able to transfer. I replay some of the games every so often, but I just erase everything and start over. I haven't done competitive battling or anything since the 90s. I knew things had gotten out of hand, but I didn't realize it was THIS bad. I always knew Game Freak was making a mistake with the way they make Pokemon games. There was always going to be a point where something like this was going to happen.
