GW2 B2P model sucks in the long run though. Once the money dries up then they start jewing more on the cash shop and reducing content in future expansions (their biggest feature promoted in the latest GW2 was literally ground mounts)

There's the entry subscription. A lot of people use it including me and you'd have to replace the sub with other income sources. With how ffxiv works in terms of players it'd make no sense either. xiv isn't a game you jump into when new and fuck around a while and go on and off constantly. hard to get into and hard to get out of. ESO is the opposite. Easy to pick up but you won't get attached to it as easily if at all.

Reduced costs keeps players around longer, and allowing those who will pay for the stupid mogshop stuff to be in higher number, and keep an attached userbase. If you are attached to an MMO like FFXIV compared to ESO then it's just the subscription artificially inflating your experience and keeping you there instead of keeping you for how you enjoy the content.

I get the game is Japanese so it will have some Japanese influence, but a lot of the lore elements/cities/overal attitude of the game is too ‘classical JRPG’ for me. I prefer the more classic,gritty MMO elements that RS, WoW, and even ESO use. LOTR-esque I guess. And don’t say just because they’re Japanese they can’t do it or blend the two styles together, FromSoft does an excellent job of this. Heavensward was really great but then it was back to weebland in Stormblood. Haven’t looked too much into shadowniggers but I’m guessing it’s also weeby.

I chose Jenova a while ago because I didn't want a massive population server. Seeing more and more people show up in recent months is slightly unfortunate. Nice to see more talking in the world though.

You only need the base game and the most recent expansion. If you were to buy Shadowbringers, once it comes out officially on July 2 you'd get Heavensward and Stormblood along with it. If you want to be an Au Ra then buy the base game, get your Heavensward for free since they're apparently giving it out. If you want to be a Viera or Hrothgar just wait until Shadowbringers comes out and buy the complete edition. If you want to play one of the five base races than just buy the base game, perhaps after playing the trial, and then buy Shadowbringers when it comes out or preorder it.

The new system is better than the current.
Is it the best system possible? Of course not.
But now that seals exist this mechanic can be added to and expanded on in the future. Just think about how easily this can be improved by adding a second ability besides Divination which interacts with seals.
It's a huge upgrade with room to improve over time.

For FFXIV it's a slow wordy singleplayer experience which is best experienced on your own, then it's followed by a post-game gear grind, or an unsub.
It's sort of like Undertale... once you've watched it happen once, there's very little point in actually watching it again - except Undertale has the benefit of being a short game filled with lots of little "oooh" moments.

Except games like Undertale and FFXIV are 100% best played on your own instead of watching some other faggot play it.

I played the game when ARR came out, I abandoned my character and lost my account because I played on this ps3 and missed the transfer time. I am playing it again, level 18 and on Limsa Lominsa, and I swear to god the game heavily changed. I don’t remember going through some of the areas I am going through, nor do I remember a lot of the story quests. When do these ants appear again?
