konami was so fucking lazy they forgot to balance story mode for the older decks that still used master rule 3 so when you play through the 5ds/zexal/arc-v campaign you're left facing a bunch of older decks with no link monsters despite them being essential to link format.

This. LotD has probably the worst UI of any Yu-Gi-Oh game to date. I remember it taking me a full minute to figure out how to read effects of a monster in the Extra deck. Also, everything is slow as shit. PoC games may not have been perfect but they were imensely more satisfying to play.

The series might have declined post dark signers, but it still had tons of goid moments.

I only wish that you were allowed to use Master Rule 3 for the DM to Arc-V story modes. It's hard using story mode decks that were designed for a format where you weren't limited on your extra deck summons.

TCG still has him at 1 and has for an eternity so I am curious as to why they decided they needed to.

It also has a full original story mode with five different character stories and actual packs that make sense.
Plus knowing how the previous games work, you get enough currency for a truckload of packs every fight

It's sad that the last few DS games had some of the best card search/deck creator functions in the franchise but they threw it all out for later games. I fucking hated building decks in the Other Ocean games so doubt I'll even play the Switch version as nothing has changed most likely.

New cards would mean more effort, which would mean less of a chance of it actually happening. That and trying to incorporate things like Synchro, XYZ, etc. into the Duelists of the Roses format would probably require rebuilding it from the ground up.
