It amuses me when people complain about games being exclusive to a set PC platform store, when that's exactly what steam is and has been since its inception. I think it's mostly that unless you're in at least your mid-20s or older, you don't remember a time before Steam was "the" place you bought PC games. They wouldn't remember how people were pissed that half-life 2 required steam outright, or how counter-strike became steam-only.
I feel like it really demonstrates how PC fanboys are almost more often Valve fanboys, and how much more fervent they are than other fanboys. Granted, my sample size is also this place, which once had people unironically suggest that Steam add a "donate" button, so perhaps it's just a bad sample group, but I would also not be surprised if a lot of people on this board now are of the exact age group I identified, the one which cannot remember a time before Steam.
The problem is not the exclusivity, the problem is that the EGS is dogshit compared to Steam, if they offered a service similar to Steam's i'd gladly use it as well, i use Uplay, Battle.net and Origin.
It's almost as if value kept their own games on their own platform.

Nobody really complains when a developer puts their own game on their platform only. There was no uproar that Fortnite or Overwatch wasn't on Steam for example.
The problem is Epic paying third party developers for exclusivity. That kind of jewry has only been in the realm of consoles until now. Ideally developers would put their games on both platforms, and the platform with the best customer experience would win.

It matters because platform Y cant hold a candle to platform Z in terms of quality. And it doesnt have some special perks other platform W does that neither do such as DRM-free downloads Your argument would hold weight if steam and epic were comparable in terms of service, sales, variety, functionality, security, erc. A price tracker. Shows the current and historical deals for a game on various digital stores as well as various vouchers that can be used for discounts. Both games are part of the Metro series, but the one on the right is Epic Store exclusive, as shown by the lack of deals and discounts compared to the left.

Left shows a “monopoly”, as can be seen by how many different online stores the game is on, and how they have different prices so if you wanted to, you could buy the game on the cheapest platform.
The right shows “competition”, where the game is only on one online store.
If Valve bought "exclusivity" then how come they happily let any of the games on the Epic Store still appear on the Steam Store?

I miss old days when no one was fighting steam and everything was in one place under one easy to install program I used to buy more games then too cause it was simply so much easier to go to steam just like you would gamestop you could make friends and know they'd all be using steam instead of whatever shit program the company who made the game uses that's only used specifically for that
just divided pc gamers too much steam was a good place too cause every company harvest data, but only one wasn't selling it to every advertiser to pay them
now your shit goes to every company and they're all dishing that out to anyone they can to earn an extra buck

It isn't. There is no "war", only actual astroturfing trying to make Epic look relevant. Notice how this never happened with Battlenet or Origin.

Normalfags are going to buy the shit out of Borderlands 3 and it's going to create a snowball effect of acceptance for this shit.

Reminder that the only reason to not pirate is to play online multiplayer, or support the studio and Epic has superior multiplayer with built in crossplay function so you can play with all your friends regardless of platform, and gives more money to the studios. Reminder that these indisputable facts make steamtards shit their pants in rage as they look at the fake level badge they've wasted $1000+ on, and 5000 game collection (45 played) that they're leasing
Owen Taylor
>Battlenet or Origin they also only had blizzard and ea games as an exclusive so no one really had a problem with it

>They wouldn't remember how people were pissed that half-life 2 required steam outright, or how counter-strike became steam-only. Those are Valve 1st party games. They are fully in the right to make them exclusive to Steam. In the same way Fortnite is Epic 1st party, it's totally fine for it to be EGS only.
Now, you might argue that Steam has plenty of 3rd party exclusive games, and technically you are right. However, Valve is not temping developers and locking them into contracts for Steam distribution. Sure, ultimately no dev is forced to take Epic's money and exclusivity deals, but to many people Epic is just playing dirty by buying 3rd party exclusives rather than developing their own.
Jacob James
If there really is no difference between Epic and Steam, then how is that an argument? It's just a launcher. I guess The better pharsing is if Epic launched their store to better the PC gaming market, then how will they do this? Will they offer their games for cheaper, bankroll games? What's the plan?

It's still the publisher's decision, epic isn't forcing anyone to put games on their store.

You know that cross-play is a GAME-BY-GAME basis, right? It's not locked to any one platform or exclusive to Epic. Even trash games like fucking Smite have turned it on to save their trash game from being irrelevant.
EGS allowed Microsoft to sell Metro Exodus so your last point is not true.

It's more to do with the fact that we know steam is bad but we're trapped in it, that's we don't want to be forced into a second one. steam being bad too doesnt make epic any less shitty.
Connor Smith
Maybe you should wipe Gabe's cum from your eyes to try actually reading the article and realize that crossplay is literally a built in on/off switch of epics server function any game using it can use if they desire instead of something that devs had to implement themselves on a game by game basis.
Brandon Bailey
Fortnite is an entirely different FPS than CSGO or TF2. Plus you can see all the PC players winning like 99% of their games even if they're trash. Valve had a competitive atmosphere in their games and tarnishing that with being queued with or against extremely outclassed opponents doesn't really offer competition.
Joshua Gray
I honestly can't wait for next year when all the exclusivity deals end, if the developer puts their game full price they will get backlash for selling a year old game at 60$, and if they make them cheaper people will realize that they can easily wait and get games for cheaper on their prefered platform, there is no winning scenario for Epic, the icing on the cake would be if said games sell several times more than what they did on Epic
Carter Nguyen

Steam never bought exclusivity though. They were the only decent DRM around so publishers naturally flocked to it, except for those publishers with their own stores/launchers (like Blizzard) You wouldnt know this though because your government blocks this sort of thing from entering the Hive

They make 5% of all profit any game using the engine makes. The two most profitable games for epic was Fortnite and PUBG because PUBG uses their engine.
Elijah Rogers
Console games have had aim assist since the 90s, where is any proof that the console versions didnt have it during testing? You seem to think aim assist is an auto lock on when any m+k player will still shit on a console player using it
Joshua Lee
True, but Fortnite is the main attraction of EGS. If it declines in popularity then there goes most people's reason to care for EGS.

I unironically will never put a publically traded company ahead of a privately owned one when looking for a service unless the quality difference is notable. Considering Steam shits on EGS, it's not even a question.

Based, epic defenders are the most retarded pieces of shit I've ever seen
I always order my steak medium-rare. Unless, of course, I'm sitting at a table in a steakhouse with a large group of people. In that case it's not so simple. I'm a gentlemen, so I never just go ahead and order first. I'll hold off for somebody else to start, and then I'll wait until it's my turn to order. Chances are, somebody else is going to order their steak medium-rare. I'm telling you, it's the best way to have a steak. But then the waiter will come around to me, “And for you sir? How would you like your steak prepared?” I can't say medium-rare now. I'll look like I have no idea what I'm doing. I'll look like I've never ordered a steak before, and now I'm just copying everybody else.
This is why it's great to order first at a steak place. Everyone else is definitely going to get their steak medium-rare. So when you order first, you look like you're in charge, like everyone else is following your lead. Then the second person also says medium-rare. “Very good, sir.” And maybe he really did want his steak medium-rare. It all depends on how fast he said it. If there was even a second's hesitation, it would be perfectly obvious that he was probably going to go for medium, but he didn't feel like being outdone by the first person. “I'll take mine medium … rare. Medium-rare.” A classic rookie I've-never-eaten-in-a-steakhouse-with-a-large-group-of-people mistake.
And then it goes down the line, medium-rare, medium-rare, medium-rare. But now everybody ordering, the fifth, sixth, seventh, even if they wanted medium, medium-well, it's just not happening. Nobody's going to stick their neck out like that. By the third or fourth person, the waiter is only even asking because he has to, because it's part of his job description. Bosses always gets really pissed when waiters try to save some time, try to cast out a blanket, “medium-rares all around?” question to the table.
Kayden Cook
That IS the Xbox original, maybe you'd know if you actually ever used one. Pic related is what 360s achievement screen looked like, just in case your ADHD-raddled brain forgot.
Every once in a while the waiter will start off with a person who clearly doesn't know how to eat steak and they'll say medium or medium-well. And the next person will order theirs, extra loud, medium-rare, as if to say, please don't confuse me with my idiot friend to my left, I'd like mine medium-rare. Please. And it'll go down the line, medium-rare, medium-rare, and after two or three people, that first guy will realize his mistake, and he'll get really embarrassed, and he'll just shout out to the waiter, who's already passed him, and he'll say, “Excuse me, you know what? I'm going to go for that medium-rare also, thanks.” And the waiter will say, “Very good, sir,” and he'll pretend to cross out something on his pad and write in something else, but it will all be an act, because he's not writing anything at all. It's always medium-rare. The first person always changes to medium-rare after everyone else orders medium-rare. It's a science.
But then it gets to me, maybe I'm like the eighth or ninth person ordering. And I'm no follower, I'm no nameless face in a crowd. So I'll say “rare, please.” And everyone drops their fork and stares. I learned this trick at my friend's wedding in Iowa last summer. The rehearsal dinner was at this steak place, and the specialty was rib-eye. Delish. Of course I was going to order medium-rare, but the first person ordered rare. I was like, what? Rare? Crazy. But then the second person ordered. Rare. Third, fourth, fifth. Rare, rare, rare. There was definitely a pattern here and it became clear to me how I'd have to order my steak.
I really hope that someday I'm out to dinner with a bunch of guys and for some reason it's my turn to order first. And I'm definitely going to order rare. And I know that that second person is just going to have to order rare also. And it'll be like dominoes, everyone falling in line, everyone getting a rare steak. I'm pretty sure that's what happened in Iowa. I think.

You’re supposed to be BETTER than your competitors. Ponting out their shittiness in defense of your own is pathetic.

there are plenty of posts here saying that. pick them all out and defend why theyre not bad, seeing as youre so knowledgeable with steam.

Ryder Butler
Tell me how the Epic store is any good for the customer. THE CUSTOMER, not the developers, not the publisher, US, the paying customers. And please, spare me all the parroting you do from your corporate overlord Timmy Tencent for once and actually come up with your own arguments.
Nolan Allen
i was arguing with the other guy when he said theres no reasonable arguments here about why the epic store is bad. dont lump me with him
Security. In all of these years I haven't had a single account breach or unwanted login attempt on any of my steam accounts. I made an EPIC account for Unreal, and within the week I was hammered with unwanted login attempts; this continued for several years until I closed the account. I know you're probably like, "But your email was probably pwned", except it was a fresh email.
>mining I bet you didn't even do that you stupid chink. I've read through this thread there's a lot of legitimate gripes with EG such as:
-Paying for exclusives when your competitors don't. -Having a shitty distribution platform that's only has a fraction of the functions & features than your competitors while installing Chinese spyware on your system
How much social credit are you getting for shilling EG?
>bribe >dishonestly persuade to act in one's favour by a gift of money or other inducement. >"shady" >without articulating why Really solid argument you've got there >b-b-but microsoft Enjoy your 20% performance loss. >Please explain why lower prices are good for the customer >Please explain why diversifying your digital content library across multiple DRM services is better than relying on one company to exist forever That braindamaged way of thinking is the reason we had the 2007 Financial Crisis
Leo Rivera
It amuses me when people don't take into account the advantages steam offers. Steam isn't the 2007 Steam. Steamworks is a rather robust tool that is used in probably a lot of the games you play but you don't ever think about it.
Dominic Green
>theres no reasonable arguments here about why the epic store is bad There are plenty but you choose to ignore them. So instead, I ask you, how is the Epic store and its exclusivity deals any good for us the customers?
(Had to correct my post since I replied to the wrong one)
Christopher Diaz
>>Please explain why lower prices are good for the customer The Epic Mega Sale had games removed from it because of the lower price. The truth of the matter is: the publisher decides how low a game drops in discount, the store can only organize the sale and promote it. And, also, despite the 88/12 cut, Borderlands 3 is still full 60 dollars, and so is Bloodlines II, not exclusive yes, but all the competing games that are on Epic and Steam have the same price. >>Please explain why diversifying your digital content library across multiple DRM services is better than relying on one company to exist forever And Epic will? What gives me that guarantee? How about all the security concerns that are routinely raised against Epic?
Noah Evans
>just types in the definition of bribery as if that's an argument or in any way disproves my point >m-m-m-muh performance loss on my potato And you're calling my arguments bad?
Jack Long
but it is shady at worst, at the very least asshole-y and anti-consumer. everyone with a working brain should know never to piss off consumers, and by sniping most of the exclusives they have right now they buried themselves before they even had a chance to put a foot on the door. you cant deny that its shady, you can keep telling us that its not tho, but maybe because you dont actually buy or play games.
Cameron Cooper
>No argument >I haven't had a single account breach or unwanted login attempt on any of my steam accounts No, you dont know you havent had any unwanted login attempts with Steam because authentication emails and the 2FA system only came around in about 2010ish. >I made an EPIC account for Unreal >Several Years >Fresh Email Id like to see any proof that you didnt use that email for any other service other than Epic because theyve never had a data breach, and its more than likely another service you used has. If you create a brand new burner email right now and sign up for Epic, you will never see a "someone tried to log into your account" email. Why? Because your account isnt in the massive combolist children use to try and crack Fortnite accounts. >Paying for exclusives when your competitors don't Why cant i buy Artifact on the EGS store, user? They're providing the funds for development, they receive an exclusive product in return. There is not a single reason in this thread for why thats bad besides "s-s-steam doesnt do it!", Epic hasnt done half the garbage shit Valve has done in their life time does that make them automatically better? >Having a shitty distribution platform that's only has a fraction of the functions You mean social functions that only the mentally challenged use? I dont use a launcher to post autistic shit on walls or come up with shitty memes to write in a "review", i use a launcher to buy and launch games and you should too. >Chinese spyware Still going on with that shit months after you were proven to be retarded? >The Epic Mega Sale had games removed from it because of the lower price. And? The customers that brought the games before they removed got a steal, how was that not good for the customers like you said? >Security concerns See above, if you arent retarded and dont use the same email over and over you dont have this issue.
Ryder Gomez
What kind of retarded faggot pays for stolen game keys? Just pirate like a normal person.
Grayson Murphy
idk why they changed it blades was actually good
Jaxon Hernandez
Keep moving those goalposts user, you're doing great.
Luke Anderson
It's impossible to argue against shills. But it still irritates me. Your argument boils down to: "It doesn't matter to me so I don't care". Yeah, great way of thinking, no wonder you'd be unironically shilling for a company like Epic. I hope you're getting well paid for this, cause I cannot imagine a real person being this retarded.
John Sanchez
Under rated post.
Gabriel Smith
it doesn't bring enough to the table to warrant having another launcher running
I also don't run origin or uplay for the same reasons
i dont know why your ignoring one of my posts about how every argument here is retarded, but here it is just in case you want to answer it.
Connor Bailey
Having DRM launchers is the norm now, it doesn't matter who controls it. PC gamers are annoyed because
1. They need additional launchers bloating their system to play specific games but the launchers add no benefit. In fact, 2. The features vary between launchers, so you need to be thinking of whether or not you're covered by cloud saves, or if you can play your game via steam link, etc. 3. You need to remember what launcher you own your game on. Did I buy that game on Steam? No... Was it EGS? No... Origin? No... Microsoft store? No... GOG? Ah, there it is... 4. Nobody wants to invest money in digital shit on a platform that isn't proven. EGS could turn around and close tomorrow - what happens to all my digital shit that I spent money on? Steam is massive and reputable. Sure, they could turn around and close tomorrow, but it's far more unlikely.
So yeah, it has nothing to do with fanboyism and everything to do with platform features and risk.
Anthony Clark
>s-s-shady >a-a-a-assholly >a-a-a-anti-consumer Literally no argument. What is shady? What is assholly? What is anti-consumer? Think, you mindless fucking drone >Maybe because you dont actually buy or play games I buy and play shit that isnt dogshit. As we had proven in the last steam shill thread, the only games people are complaining about it being "shady" about are Kikestarter scams. When Epic brought the rights to Metro, what happened? Anybody that brought the game on Steam got the game on Steam, they get all future updates at the same time as the Epic version and they get all the DLC on the same day as the Epic version. You were promised the game on steam, you paid for the game on Steam, you got the game on steam. I couldnt give two shits about what the fuck Ys Net is doing with Shenmue 3 because Shenmue 3 from the beginning was a fucking scam. If you cant see that the "big bad" in the situation is the company that received an extra FOUR POINT THREE MILLION DOLLARS in funding yet still couldnt push out a game on the platforms they originally promised and refuse refunds even after being bailed out by Epic, then you're clearly fucking retarded. All Kikestarter games are scams, they were before Epic and they will be after Epic. Mighty No 9 released a year before Fortnite BR, you gonna blame that on Epic too? If the extra 500mb of RAM that other launchers take up impacts your PC at all, you dont deserve to be playing on PC.
Don't forget no bandwidth limit settings. Unless you live alone someone is going to be bitching at you for hogging the connection, and even if you live alone you can't use your internet for shit while a game is downloading.
Hunter Howard
valve is the WWE of videogames. literal drones only support them at this point. kid friendly, no desire to innovate, stale, boring.
Epic is the AEW of videogames. independent. willingness to compete and yet still backed by big money
make the move user
Aaron Price
yeah because there was no alternative to Steam for a long ass time. Try harder Epicuck.
Logan Butler
>I buy and play shit that isnt dogshit. Then why are you using the Epic store?
>Why cant i buy Artifact on the EGS store, user? Because it's a first party game made by Valve? Why would they put it on EG when they have their own platform? >They're providing the funds for development, they receive an exclusive product in return. There is not a single reason in this thread for why thats bad It is bad when your platform is just shitty compared to your competitor. Don't pay for exclusives when your distribution platform is garbage. >You mean social functions that only the mentally challenged use? Spotted the incel. Go have sex and make friends, user. Then you'll know why those features are nice. >Still going on with that shit months after you were proven to be retarded? Calling people racists is not proving people wrong.
Yes, if the shit you're complaining about has nothing to do with video games then nobody who wants to play video games shouldnt care. I dont give a single fuck that you cant write shit like this on your Epic Store profile.
But the owner of that profile cares. His priorities are not the same as yours, but that doesn't make them any less valid. Shills always go the path of "steam bad features bad epic good" because there is no argument in favor of Epic.
Liam Hernandez
do people really go to other players’ profiles just to get offended at stuff like this? why? so you can finally point at something thats bad with steam? you dont have to deal with that at all, as its conveniently hidden from you. unless you actively go around digging this stuff up, it shouldnt actively offend you.
Evan Morgan
>No, you dont know you havent had any unwanted login attempts with Steam because authentication emails and the 2FA system only came around in about 2010ish. Actually, yes I do. I've been using the same password of 15 fucking years and I haven't had my account stolen. I've also used the same email address for steam and that hasn't been pwned yet either. >Id like to see any proof that you didnt use that email for any other service other than Epic because theyve never had a data breach, and its more than likely another service you used has. If you create a brand new burner email right now and sign up for Epic, you will never see a "someone tried to log into your account" email. Why? Because your account isnt in the massive combolist children use to try and crack Fortnite accounts. I made the EPIC account and email for it in 2016, well before Fortnite was even popular (or even released). I closed both in 2018. If I could offer proof, I would, but then you probably wouldn't accept that either, or drum up some other excuse. I always make separate emails for different game 'services', and it helps me know which leaks what. uPlay, Origin, Battlenet, and GoG have not leaked my data. The only services that have leaked my data were shit like Nexon, aeria, ijji, etc.

>while the peasants fight, the king laughs You fuckers can laugh and shout all you want about which store is a real monopoly but if you want to not be a fucking hypocrite, fight a REAL monopoly and install a linux distro. >th-th-they're hard to use no they're fucking not, everyone in tech uses them, they're easy as shit to learn and take up about an hour of your time >m-m-m-m-muh performance if you don't have a potato it doesn't fucking matter
Because the games on there are objectively better than the $1 unity asset flip early access kickstarted garbage that makes up almost 90% of Steam Games at this point. >Why would they put it on EG when they have their own platform? Why would Epic put any of the games they paid for on Steam? >It is bad when your platform is just shitty compared to your competitor. >distribution platform is garbage. You can buy games, download games and play games just as well as Steam can. Anything else not relating to actually playing games is fucking irrelevant. >Calling people racists is not proving people wrong. No, actually going through and comprehending what process manager spat out in your "epic sik totally #owned" .webm and """""infographic"""" does. I could fire up Wireshark right now with EGS and you faggots would shit your pants and call it spyware without understanding a fucking word. Anybody who believed that shit is technologically retarded. >But the owner of that profile cares Who cares what they think? They're a tranny. That shit has absolutely nothing to do with playing video games, making it bloat. >I've been using the same password of 15 fucking years Thanks for proving you're retarded >I made the EPIC account and email for it in 2016 Irrelevant, im talking about a terabyte long list of email:password combinations from a hundred different actual data breaches >If i could offer proof, i would You could show the emails that this account has received showing that it was used for only Epic, but giving you this idea at all means you're just going to delete any email that isnt from Epic.

>Why would Epic put any of the games they paid for on Steam? I'm not arguing that, they're free to do that. The issue arises with 3rd party games you willfully retarded mofo. >You can buy games, download games and play games just as well as Steam can. Anything else not relating to actually playing games is fucking irrelevant. The only other platform is decent is GOG. Origin, Rockstar and Ubisoft have been piles of crap because their security sucks, and trying to recover an account I have with them thats been hacked when I want to play their game is bullshit. I never had that issue with Steam. >I could fire up Wireshark right now with EGS and you faggots would shit your pants and call it spyware without understanding a fucking word. The do it, faggot. I wonder when fortnite cum guzzlers will realize that people don't hate Epic itself, they hate what Epic is trying to do with PC gaming. They hate that Epic's launcher is worse than fucking Origin and Uplay, but pretends like it should be the number one hot shit.
Jason Cox
>didn't watch the video >"play on shit not designed for gaming" You know literally nothing about Linux if you believe it was designed for anything specific You will not get anymore (you)s from me until you present a factual argument
And all but 1 of these came out this year. On the other hand, I have NEVER heard of that Walking Zombie 2 crap you dug out of the shit pile. You have to go out of your way to find that crap on Steam, all the time the front page and the news feed is filled with the big games the Publishers pay money to have exposure.
>Thanks for proving you're retarded Nice. Go ahead and resort to namecalling. Doesn't change the fact I haven't had an account breach on steam, and your argument on it nullified. >You could show the emails that this account has received showing that it was used for only Epic, but giving you this idea at all means you're just going to delete any email that isn't from Epic. No, I can't; I already stated that email account was closed. Even if I could, I would've needed to take pictures during that first week, of unwanted login attempts, to have actual credibility. If only I could see into the future having a conversation with an user pretending to defend epic just because he likes to argue for the sake of arguing.
Cooper Gonzalez
its pretty new as well, the steam page says that “steam is learning about this game.”
Joseph Gutierrez
>The issue arises with 3rd party games How? In relation to Shenmue 3, this is very clearly a bail out. Ys Net were not FORCED to take the deal, they already knew how many dumb fucks were already waiting for Steam Keys, they had an extra FOUR POINT THREE MILLION DOLLARS above their original TWO MILLION DOLLAR budget to create the game and release it on the platforms they originally promised. Epic is paying for the continued development of the game because Ys Net blew all of their fucking money, which is why they're refusing refunds. >Origin, Rockstar and Ubisoft have been piles of crap because their security sucks >I have with them thats been hacked This is from the same idiot that proclaimed "I've been using the same password of 15 fucking years". Their security doesnt suck, you're fucking retarded. All of these services have 2FA. Watch the Mad Max section, you fucking chimp >Listing 6 games >Out of the millions on steam Statistically, there are 100x more Walking Zombie 2's then there are legitimate games on Steam. This has been an issue for fucking years, in 2015 there were more games released on Steam than every other year combined and it keeps fucking growing. Here's a high quality game from the top of Steams "New and Trending" list store.steampowered.com/app/685340/Delivery_from_the_Pain/ >Doesn't change the fact I haven't had an account breach on steam, and your argument on it nullified. Ive never had an account breach on any of the services ive used because im not clearly fucking braindamaged, guess your argument of "hurr security sucks" is null and void.
Juan James
Pointing out bad games released on Steam isn't an argument, you don't have to buy them. Remember virtual novels? >inb4 they're trash Doesn't matter, people like them, but they didn't always, they were fucking cancers on the store before they finally got a few out that people actually liked, and now its regarded as a legitimate genre by those fans. That wouldn't exist if Steam had decided to go full authoritarian on what games are objectively good or bad and do or do not belong.
Jordan Bennett
And again with the shovelware argument. This would amuse me if not because people actually believe in this shit. You would have to be mentally challenged (which I suspect you are, to be fair) for you to think that something like Delivery from the Pain is something that would deserve your time and attention. >I play shit that isn't dogshit You said that, and if you can make that assessment so easily, then you'd know how to make an informed purchase. Not to mention, reviews (which Epic doesn't have), curators (which Epic doesn't have) and community forums (which Epic doesn't have) are all you need to use to learn if a game is good or not. But please, continue to conveniently ignore everything that doesn't support your narrative and shill Epic blindly, I am sure you'll get that fortnite skin eventually.
Dylan Ramirez
that game you pointed out actually had some people waiting for it to come out with localizations. you cant just dismiss games as shit just because you dont like them, and by essence theyre not bloating up the store because there are actual people that play them. as much as you try to use this “theres more bad games than good ones” you have to be an actual retard to think that nobody plays titles you think are bad. its not one of those asset flips either, so i dont know why you felt the need to point out that its trending. its relatively new, and a lot of people are excited for the localization, thats why its popular right now.
Lucas Collins
>How? In relation to Shenmue 3, this is very clearly a bail out. Nice moving the goalpost there, faggot. >Their security doesnt suck, you're fucking retarded. All of these services have 2FA. Motherfucker I know for a fact the hackers did not get access to my email because they would need access to my cell phone to login from a geographically different location, and I don't put my login info out there on the web, so that just leaves their shitty backend security.

Instead of getting 6,000 results, i get 600,000 with quality titles such as WoW Hentai 2!, Hentai Sudoku, Vegas Slot, Hentai energy II and Bigfoot: The Secret Life. That shit seeps onto the front page, and it seeps into any category you look for. >People really care about low effort mobile port garbage In no way is that a reasonable argument for why that shit should be on Steam. >Moving the goalposts Shenmue 3 is a Epic funded game Artifact is a Valve funded game There is literally no difference, you dumb faggot. >Motherfucker I know for a fact the hackers did not get access to my email No, you're just retarded enough to use the same email on multiple different services which means if one has a breach multiple accounts are compromised because you're so legitimately retarded you use the same password on everything.

No Shenmue 3 was a crowdfunded game until you decided to move the goal post with "muh bailout" > because you're so legitimately retarded you use the same password on everything. I know you're projecting but that's not the case. But lets just ignore all those security breaches EA and Ubisoft had.
Gavin Jackson
>maybe i want to see what the next Hotline Miami is or the next Crypt Of The NecroDancer Translation - bad argument to real words: >"I only want to be spoonfed the biggest indie games that are already critically-acclaimed and loved and not put in the effort to see if I'll enjoy any of the smaller ones because I think they're all shovelware"
Ryan Parker
>Shenmue 3 is a Epic funded game Woah, chang hold up. I get your MO already: "just ignore what people say pretend I'm right" But that is a demonstration of a severe lack of self awareness. Goddamn. Shenmue was FOUNDED BY BACKERS ON KICKSTARTER, and Epic just swoop by and paid a shitton of money to have it exclusively on their store. The game is pretty much finished by now, what the fuck did Epic founded exactly? Just the bribe, that's what they paid.

Henry Wright
>no desire to innovate They just made Linux gaming 100x more easier recently, and now they're working to integrate VR in a much easier way >inb4 that doesn't count because I say so
Elijah Adams
Valve is not forcing anyone to make their games Steam exclusive that's the big difference. Developers are only putting games on their by their own choice. Also Epic is forcing exclusivity on a store that is just objectively worse with not even half the features Steam has.
>They wouldn't remember how people were pissed that half-life 2 required steam outright, or how counter-strike became steam-only. I remember. I still have my box copy of HL:2 from 2004. I had only gotten my first good PC earlier that year so I was still really new to PC gaming. Didn't think much of it actually at the time although I thought it was kind of weird. I continued buying boxed copied whenever possible though and didn't really start buying all my games on steam until around 2011-2012ish.
Cameron Edwards
I remember when every other publisher and developer were abandoning PC for consoles and Gaben was the only one who stayed the course, built the best-functioning digital distro platform which he opened access to more and more--too much, really, allowing a glut of lazily-made indie trash because indies cried about how Steam was too hard to get on to--and now that consoles are all dying overpriced shit made to play movies instead of vidya gaems every sleazy console-first shitter (like Tim Sweeney) are crawling back and trying to bring their console wars with them. Although Tim gets bonus points for trying to sell the vidya gaemz industry out to chinks because he wasn't content with betraying PC he also has to betray his country for his Ten cents of silver.
Kevin Cox
its allkeyshop
Gabriel Morales
>willingness to compete Then why don't they offer customers a choice on where they buy their games? Is it because, perhaps, they don't want a market share and instead a monopoly because their store is featureless and inept?
Joseph Myers
>people care about low effort mobile garbage that should not be allowed on steam because you dont enjoy it? like i said already, it doesnt look offensively bad to the point of being an asset flip, and theres a market for it on the pc, so whats the problem? again, if you dont like a game on that storefront you shouldnt really go actively searching for it. with steam having so many games you have to actually dig with a lot of effort to get to the point where you find offensively bad titles, and the last one you pointed out so far even has an actually realized playerbase going for it.
Caleb Hughes
>No Shenmue 3 was a crowdfunded game Exactly, they got SIX MILLION DOLLARS in total when their original budget was TWO MILLION DOLLARS. If they had an extra FOUR POINT THREE MILLION DOLLARS to create the game, why did they take the money from Epic? >but that's not the case Except you literally admitted to it. >b-b-but EA/Ubisoft Nobody is talking about EA/Ubisoft What a shitty translation, are you even literate? Considering you're fucking slow, ill break it down for you. If a game is a blatant asset flip, mobile trash,a "hentai" puzzle game, an RPG Maker "game" or something that looks like it was shit out in a day it doesnt belong on Steam. >Shenmue was FOUNDED BY BACKERS ON KICKSTARTER, and Epic just swoop by and paid a shitton of money to have it exclusively on their store Why did they take the money then? Do you think Tim held a gun to Ys Net's head and forced them to take a huge stack of money to put the game on Epic? They, again, got an extra FOUR POINT THREE MILLION DOLLARS on top of their TWO MILLION DOLLAR original budget. If they now had THREE TIMES what they originally wanted, why did they need to take the deal from Epic? >hurr not all indie Shovelware is Shovelwhere, you fucking moron. >no evidence Besides an admission of guilt? >Blindly defending Epic and excusing all their major issues These "issues" you cry about are literally nothing, im sorry you cant put your fake made up gender on your Epic Store profile but if you werent severely autistic you wouldnt have any reason to. Not a fault with the service, its a fault with your fucking brain.
Luis Jones
The main problem isn't that Epix sucks up all the games to be exclusives.
It's that it's storefront is a piece of shit and most barebones, basic features that even a college student could fix are straight up missing or put on "in the next 8 or so months" AND then they go "oh you can't but too many games too fast else we ban you for fraud" yet there's no fucking shopping cart to avoid that and still be able to buy multiple games? Fucking please. If you want to take Steam down, do it with at least some effort instead of trying to brute-force it, while pissing off your potential customers.
Nicholas Campbell
well done because there's a reason why I cook the meat and i'm not an ooga booga savage nigger
Owen Allen
>These "issues" you cry about are literally nothing WHERE'S YOUR FUCKING CLOUD SAVING, CHANG? WHERE'S YOUR SHOPPING CART? OH, WHAT'S THAT? FOUR MONTHS AWAY? THAT REALLY IS EPIC, MY GUY. LET'S JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T GET RESCHEDULED AGAIN.
>if you dont like a game on that storefront you shouldnt really go actively searching for it If you look up "Indie", its all asset flip trash If you look up "Zombie", its all asset flip trash If you look up "Action" its all asset flip trash What if i want another quality interdependently made game like Binding Of Issac or Lethal League? What if i want a PvE game i can play with friends like Left 4 Dead? What if i want basically any game since they're all listed under Action anyway?
Jayden Russell
Medium rare. Fuck well done that shit is dry as fuck.
Luke Bailey
>Cloud Saves On my regularly scheduled off-site full system backups >Where's your shopping cart? I dont mindlessly buy $1 "indie" unity asset flip garbage 100 games at a time, so who cares? If im purchasing a game, im purchasing a game im going to play and not have it sit for months.
If you werent so severly retarded, you'd have less problems in life.
Daniel Phillips
>What if i want another quality interdependently made game like Binding Of Issac or Lethal League? Literally what the fuck does that even mean >What if i want a PvE game i can play with friends like Left 4 Dead? Deep Rock Galactic. >What if i want basically any game since they're all listed under Action anyway? This is an issue with gaming, not just any store, gaming genres are too much of a fucking umbrella term.
Parker Ortiz
Lemme ask you, and give me a real answer, why get Epic's money when they can simply put a game on both platforms and get all sales from each one? If Epic's Store is superior, then they get the majority sales form it and still enjoy whatever they get from Steam.
Wyatt King
>Literally what the fuck does that even mean It means a game with new concepts that were actually thought out and developed over time and not rushed out in three days like 90% of the trash on Steam >Deep Rock Galactic What if ive already played that and want something new and have to go searching through Steam for one? Im sure as fuck not going to find anything good.
Luis Morris
>The shopping cart is not an issue because I say so despite the fact that the biggest sale the store I'm defending had was forced to fraud-protect accounts because they couldn't buy games in bulk like you're supposed to do on a sale. This "it's not a problem because I say so" argument has to stop soon, Chang.
>on my regularly scheduled off-site full system backups Sure, and i bet you're also behind seven proxies.
Blake Gutierrez
Nice bait, but steam never paid for exclusivity.
Brayden Robinson
>why did they take the money from Epic? Then why did ES buy exclusivity for Metro? They were not hurting for money that's for sure. >Except you literally admitted to it. >>Assuming I use the same password between multiple accounts. user, I know you're retarded but I don't do retarded things like you do. >Nobody is talking about EA/Ubisoft You retarded motherfucker, you were saying you can buy games from other platforms and I gave you a reason why they sucked. I know it's hard for you to shill this much against many people but do try to be coherent or don't try at all.
Cooper Adams
>What if ive already played that and want something new and have to go searching through Steam for one? Im sure as fuck not going to find anything good. You can check the concurrent player numbers and see which games have active communities, like you can on Ep... oh wait, no, you can't.
Nathan Hughes
now youre just flat out arguing in bad faith. you can bend over backwards finding a myriad of ways to make trash games pop up on the search on steam, simply because by your own admission theres too many games on the platform. let me try to talk to you in a language that you can understand, since you like arguing this way so much: if you like these types of games so much why not just google what you want before going to steam? theres a built-in browser in there, too.
Isaiah Reed
Medium well or well done because I'm not American. I honestly don't understand the obsession Yanks have with eating raw meat.
Julian Peterson
>I never heard of GOG Neck yourself, user.
Ayden Sanchez
Your entire post is one giant logic fallacy that retroactively accuses Steam of being guilty of exclusivity deals by selling games because there were very few other reliable Digital Rights Management platforms. Simply BEING does not make them guilty of what you are accusing them of. Now fuck off.
Levi Kelly
Because then it really isn't competition you alcohol addled dipshit.
Michael Reed
How many fucking Left 4 Dead-esque games do you expect there to be? Let's list the ones that are still relevant: Left 4 Dead (obviously) Deep Rock Galactic Vermintide GTFO might be relevant on-release who knows ...That's literally it, that's all I can think of
Leo Nguyen
world war z, but thats on the egs for pc.
Isaac Diaz
fucking pussies with their tasteless overcooked deadshit. gimme the blood. never heard of "blue rare," though. always been a medium rare girl.
Juan Young
Anywhere from rare - medium well, i'll eat blue or well but don't enjoy it as much
Austin Williams
Medium rare is the only correct answer. Not too tough, not too chewy, and if prepared correctly won't give you a fucking ulcer like blue or rare.
John Reed
Payday 2 is another one but that's a pretty loose fit.
Levi Sullivan
>why get Epic's money when they can simply put a game on both platforms and get all sales from each one? Im not a developer/publisher, so how would i ask that? Im asking the same thing to this idiot Why did Ys Net take Epic's money if they already had the numbers of people expecting Steam keys, already had an extra four point three million dollars in funding above their original 2 million dollar budget and according to that idiot had already completed most of the game? >buy games in bulk like you're supposed to do on a sale. This retarded mentality is the reason why you've wasted hundreds of dollars on games you'll never play just because "HURR DEYRE SO CHEEP" Its mindless consumer bullshit, and you're actually thinking its a positive. Fuck you're stupid. A good VPN is all you need. >Then why did ES buy exclusivity for Metro? Why did Deep Silver take the money? They didnt have to, nobody forced them to. >user, I know you're retarded but I don't do retarded things like you do. See >Actually, yes I do. I've been using the same password of 15 fucking years How are you so retarded that you've already forgotten? >I gave you a reason why they sucked You gave me a reason why two sucked, not all of them. If you want to bring forward an actual data breach for the rest of them, feel free. >You can check the concurrent player numbers and see which games have active communities That has literally nothing to do with browsing the Store, you dumb faggot >you can bend over backwards finding a myriad of ways to make trash games pop up on the search on steam Except im not doing that, which is why i brought up an example which was ON THE VERY TOP of Steams "New and Popular" list.
Camden Harris
The fact that you can only list four means you're blind to the issue If i look up the tags "Zombie" and "Multiplayer" on Steam, i get Wasteland Survival Blockade Classic Zumbi Blocks Zombiotik The fact that two of them are fucking Minecraft clones should paint a picture. Also this, which is somehow "Overwhelmingly Positive" store.steampowered.com/app/915460/ULTIMATE_HARDBASS_DEFENCE/
Nathan Rodriguez
Steam was chosen by developers Steam never told them "you can't publish your game on another service"
When will that ever get into you retarded fucknugget faggots heads?
Tyler Thompson
I don't buy games in bulk, but I know people do, and they do it because that's what sales do to people on a psychological level, they're there to create a sense of urgency. Yet again you're ignoring the argument because "duhhh I don't use it therefore it's not relevant because I say so".
Zachary Foster
>minecraft clones Castle Miner Z is actually pretty fun for a drunken spree with your friends, it's a bit more than just a "clone" Although I guess I'm just a mega retard and everything you don't like is bad and therefore not relevant and detrimental to a store, huh?
Gavin Roberts
Never because it's consoletards justifying shit practices.
Gabriel Lewis
>Steam was chosen by developers Steam was chosen by being the only service of its kind >Steam never told them "you can't publish your game on another service" Why cant i buy Artifact on uPlay, then? >and they do it because that's what sales do to people on a psychological level, they're there to create a sense of urgency. So you're saying that Steam is manipulating its users and Epic isnt allowing that, yet somehow Steam is the good guy in this situation and Epic is the bad guy? Really good logic you've got there.
Lucas Hughes
>Im not a developer/publisher, so how would i ask that? But you know the answer. I know you're already pretending to be retarded, but I have to wonder if you actually are. Money, motherfucker, they did it for the money. Deep Silver did it for the money. They don't give a shit, they're just in for the money. And the same with Epic. They don't care about the consumer, the player, they don't give a shit. And why, then, should I give a shit? They don't offer me anything their competitors don't already have, other than their poached exclusives. I can wait for those to come over to Steam (all two of them that I give a shit about), Epic doesn't give me anything I want, it's a shit store with a shit service that's only an inconvenience.
Adrian Watson
youre skirting on what i said with regards to that example once again. youre dismissing the game entirely on the merit that its “not good enough for you, therefore its not good enough for steam.” again, its at the top due to localizations coming out for that early access title, which lead to renewed interest in the game. just because you have no interest in playing it or the fact that its a chinese mobile fame receiving a pc port on steam doesnt make it a “shovelware” title. im glad you arent making that decision on what shovelware titles are, because clearly you dont know how to pick them.
Ayden Roberts
No, Steam is allowing users to spend money however they want, while Epic is shoving a pacifier in their mouth and saying "no more for you, who cares if you willingly want more."
Caleb Wright
>Why cant i buy Artifact on uPlay, then? Because it's a game made by Valve? Why can't I buy FIFA on Steam? Or Overwatch on Epic? See the trend here?
I have another question, and give me a real answer again, why should I choose Epic over Steam? What does Epic have that Steam doesn't that isn't paid-for timed exclusives?
Robert Ortiz
>They did it for the money >Deep Silver did it for the money >They're just in it for the money >They don't care about the consumer, the player, they don't give a shit. Then why are you getting upset over this? If every single game that went to the EGS did it solely because the developers and publishers couldnt give a fuck about the players or the game itself and only cared about the money, why are you so asshurt that you cant purchase these blatant cash grabs on Steam? >Steam is allowing users to spend money however they want By manipulating the psychology behind a sale?
John Edwards
You're acting like Steam invented sales, sales have been around for as long as currency.
Isaac Jackson
Borderlands 3, Shenmue 3 and Phoenix Point are all games paid for by Epic, which is why you cant buy them on Steam. If Valve can keep Artifact off other platforms, why is it bad when Epic does it?
Nathaniel Hill
this is all he has to argue btw. that “because i said so” your game is now shovelware-tier that has no place on steam.
Kevin Ortiz
>Then why are you getting upset over this? If every single game that went to the EGS did it solely because the developers and publishers couldnt give a fuck about the players or the game itself and only cared about the money, why are you so asshurt that you cant purchase these blatant cash grabs on Steam? Thanks friend, I will screen cap your post and show it when people ask me if they should buy Epic Store exclusives.
Xavier Davis
Medium rare and medium are the best overall for most steaks. Blue is like bubble gum consistency, and rare is only good with certain cuts like filet or sirloin, if it's cooked right that shit will just melt in your mouth.
Austin Garcia
>Borderlands 3, Shenmue 3 and Phoenix Point are all games paid for by Epic All those games were already made by the time Epic came in. They paid for EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS. In case you don't know, distribution rights are a thing. And it's the PUBLISHER who gets paid for that.
Adam Myers
I tried all of these, and rare tastes the best imo.
Joshua Green
You're going to screencap the breakdown of why your "its just money" argument is fucking retarded? Sure. >Shenmue 3 was already made by the time Epic came in ?
Carson Jackson
Also, Ys Net is both the publisher and developer of Shenmue 3.
Ryan Bell
It's yours, actually.
Shenmue is releasing in September this year. That's three months from now, you think there's a lot of development left at this point?
Jordan Kelly
Shenmue 3 was fully-funded and began development in 2015. Epic bough it in 2019 three months before its date of release. It does not take a genius to figure out that Epic had no hand in it.
Hudson Clark
You think these deals are made in a weekend?
Michael Sullivan
God I fucking miss blades. >ywn start Hexic HD throud blades arcade UI ever again What's the fucking point, bros?
seeing as how their have been a few cases of last minute announcements stating they will be exclusive to the epic store then yes
Joshua Anderson
Let's assume that this deal took a lot of time then, Epic first became a store for third-party distribution in 2018, that still leaves 4 years of Epic not having an involvement in Shen3.
Jacob Russell
With Epic's money, yes. I mean it. It took a week from GDC (Epic said they would not do any more exclusives) to PAX East (Borderlands 3 announcement) for Epic to get Borderlands 3.
Sebastian Adams
That gives them almost two years to pay for the development of Shenmue 3, a game from kikestarter a site notorious for multimillion dollar projects going over budget even when they were given an excess budget.
Wyatt Perry
I don't even know what this is, i just cook meat till it's cooked.
Blake Morales
>last minute announcements Just because they didnt tell you as soon as it happened, doesnt mean these are "last minute announcements". No buisness plan goes into effect in a weekend, you dont just purchase massive operations and spend millions of dollars in 72 hours, especially when you have a parent company and a board of directors.
Ryder Lewis
>uhhhh shit these guys proved my argument wrong hmmm oh I know I'll just call kickstarter bad and therefore call the project bad by association without any evidence fuuuuuuuuck bros what are we gonna dooooo
i cant tell if this is legit or not anymore. you think that all this time, epic had a hand in making shemue 3, before egs even came out, and with the promised backer rewards for steam keys on pc? why not just fucking announce your involvement already if youre in it for 2 years now, unless of course you werent and was just trying to snipe another exclusive for your shitty storefront.
Nathaniel Howard
Metro was selling preorders on Steam when it was taken out of it two weeks before release. If that's not last minute, I don't know what your definition of it is. And no, nigger, it's not 1 minute on the clock before release, it's a figure of speech that means in the least possible time before something happens. A single or two weeks time is last minute for this type of business deals.
Isaac Hall
Funny how it took people 4 years to request refunds. Real funny how it took Epic's involvement for that to happen.
Yes, people are retarded what a shocker. If the deal Epic gave them said "Epic Exclusive", why didnt they turn down the deal? They had the numbers of people waiting for the Steam keys they were promised, why would they take that deal? How is it Epics fault that Ys Net took the deal? >"Coming Soon" Its not hard to read, try it sometime.
Wyatt Ward
>Mostly negative How is this even possible? It's fucking Monopoly.
Liam Brown
>and so, another 20 years passes, and the year is.. It amuses me when people complain about games being exclusive to certain types of DNA, when that's exactly what DNA was made for and has been that way since its inception. I think it's mostly that unless you're in at least your mid-40s or older, you don't remember a time before DNA was "the place" you bought games. They wouldn't remember how people were pissed that half-life remaster required DNA augmentation outright, or how counter-counter-strike became extended reality-only.
I feel like it really demonstrates how DNA-free purists are almost more often Calamity fanboys, and how much more fervent they are than other purists. Granted, my synapse relocation size is also this place, which once had people unironically suggest that DNA should add "donate" channels, so perhaps it's just a bad synapse group, but I would also not be surprised if a lot of people on this projection now are of the exact age group I identified, the one which cannot remember a time before calamity and DNA.
You always deflect criticism towards Epic with "but why?" arguments >Why do you care? >How is that bad? >Why did they take the money?
Why did Epic offer the money in the first place? Why do they need to have exclusives? How is that good for me when I have to pay the same?
Carter Smith
Except it's never coming soon, because now Shen3 is an Epic exclusive. Shit, it looks like you're a fan of reading, try it yourself, because the page still says "November 19th", even though that clearly can't be the case anymore.
Austin Taylor
It shocks me that this board is so loyal to Gabe Jew-well. Valve haven't made anything worth buying in a decade, and people still lap their shit up. Pretty sad desu
Evan Bennett
>Achievements >On the original Xbox Zoomer-kun, I...
Jeremiah Wilson
You know aside from the fact EPG has less features than stream I think the big issue people have is the fact they pay for exclusives while telling consumers it's for their benefit.
I've yet to see consumers benefit from anything. The games are still $59.99+ even though the publisher/Dev doesn't have to pay as much to be on the store and makes more money. They keep harping about consumer this and that but nothing is there.
Jace Ward
It shocks me that this board shills Tim Swindle. Epic haven't made anything worth buying in over a decade, and people still lap their shit up. Pretty sad desu
Jose Hernandez
If I want Medium I always have to order Medium-Rare. Most steak shops overcook because roughly half of customers demand burnt steak.

isthereanydeal.com Price comparison tool to see what store has the best price for games. The key resellers it tracks are legitimate, like Humble, Green Man, or Fanatical. They don't track shady resellers like G2A or Kinguin.
Luis King
they are anti-capitalists by: trying to monopolize the market by giving more money to the sellers, but not buyers (so, an inversion of monopoly, where the suppliers would rather sell to you becuase you paid them a bigger margin but gave your buyers the same prices as the normal market ones) not allowing for any criticism towards the games being released (no back and forth with devs) not giving a proper support where it is due, and literally banning people for "inquiring" too much into getting help. in short: people hate ES, because they're a bunch of fucking communists.
Lincoln Reed
Valve was pretty shitty when launched, but it got better. Epic is as bad as original Valve and risks changing Valve for the worse too. Opposal to Epic doesn't mean Steam loyalty. I totally okay with other distribution platforms as long as they don't put publishers over consumers.
Sebastian Kelly
>Why did Epic offer the money in the first place? Why not? They're supporting developers and gaining quality games for their service while Steam gets swamped with shovelware. >Why do they need to have exclusives? Why does Steam? Every other Epic exclusive has been a 1 year, it might be different but i dont care to look into it because i dont play Kikestarter garbage. The release date is November 19th because that is the official release date of the game. Ultimate Doom is listed on Steam as releasing on the 30th of April, 1995 despite Steam not existing then and Doom not being released on Steam until a while after launch.
David Brown
A lot of people were happy about EGS to compete with Steam, but they did fucking nothing with the store except buying timed exclusivity shit with barebones features. Steam has revived the PC market while almost every publisher has gone in favor for consoles. They have made it lucrative for indie developers to release their games on it and many of their successes are thanks to Steam.
Epic has shown no proof that they'll improve the PC platform, they just snagged exclusives without improving their fucking store. Everyone complains about Valve time but at least Valve does some good shit or experiment every once in a while like proton and making new hardware.
Joseph Adams
you must be 14 and bad at making up stories. no one bought games from steam lmao it took 10 years before you could find a game that sold over 100k copies. it was all piracy on the PC, so no, steam didn't have any sort of monopoly or exclusivity to games unless they Valve developed them. and anyway, no one was even doing a digital store so there's nothing to compare it to. without steam, you wouldn't even have EGS trying to siphon off their success. GOG never went to war with steam and they're still somewhat viable. EGS will fail and it has everything to do with their 3rd party exclusive bullshit. people won't forget and in business, reputation is everything.
Ian Thomas
>Steam has revived the PC market By consolising it?
Liam Jones
This. Valve did help incentive games to also release on PC.
Kevin Scott
I've been complaining about PC games being exclusive to Steam ever since that first occured.
Or, more accurately, I've just avoided purchasing them.
Anthony Diaz
How the fuck did Valve consoling it?
Logan Perez
You'll have to remind me, who came up with Early Access? I dont think it was Epic, who could it have been? It might have been Kikestarter, but why would Valve implement something so objectively bad for gaming into Steam?
Kayden Thompson
All of them will be on Steam after a year.
Chase Hill
In this case, I would ironically ask for well done.
David Cruz

Steam has never signed agreements with developers for exclusive sales rights. If you sell on steam, they don't stop you from selling on gog, or epic, or whatever outlet you choose.
If a game is sold only on steam, it's because the publisher or developer decided to only sell it on steam.
Nolan Green
>still on the "Early Acess bad" phase Deep Rock Galactic Risk of Rain 2 Slay the Spire Early access has existed long before Steam coined it, except it was called "updating the game". Minecraft was a fucking early access game. Every game that gets slowly updated into a full-form game before a solid "1.0" tag is slapped on it has been an early access game. Valve just had the decency to make games identify themselves as early access.
Ryan Jones
>he's so fucking brainwashed he actually thinks selling an unfinished game is good HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ian Rivera
All of the games I mentioned are still good games whether you like it or not. Hell, despite being early access, Risk of Rain 2 literally had non-stop threads on Yea Forums for WEEKS after its release, it got to the point where mods were deleting them for spam.
Carson Evans
>threads for a game were deleted as spam >this is somehow a good thing How mentally fucked are you?
Julian Campbell
So you are pro corporation? Okay. >inb4 so are you Steam has always been convenient to me and their features are pro consumer. Epic has none of the features and they take games away from the service I prefer. In the mean time, their revenue split favors developers and publishers while not giving me any discounts on the regular prices. >inb4 mega sale Steam have their sales as well, and outside Epic's sale period the games that are shared have the same price and other games like Borderlands 3 are full 60 dollars
Benjamin James
Now we move the discussion from exclusivity deals to early access shit? Remind me other then indie games that have early access? Remind me the fact that developers use early access to get feedback and funds from users to improve their games? Look at how many fucking RoR2 threads we have.
That's not "Consoling it", plus you forgot that every time they do that shit, there was a blowback to the community and removed it. So many fucking complained and Epic just keep ignoring the community feedback. What's the fucking point?
Blake Williams
Not him, but are you retarded? He's using that to show how good RoR2 reception was. Nobody cared it was early access.
Jonathan Gomez
>and their features are pro retard ftfy
Michael Sanchez
I don't have EGS installed either, friendo.

Risk of Rain 1 is the pinnacle of Yea Forums-core you fucking reddit tourist, of course a sequel would break the board, and it did.

Please try again.
Matthew Miller
Risk Of Rain was released as a full game, you reddit faggot. Anybody that gave a fuck about 2 is either a shill or mentally challenged, either way they dont belong here, because anybody that played RoR here knows better than to buy a fucking unfinished game you dumb faggot.
Bentley Rivera
Because naive gamers used to think that it would be totally awesome to be able to play a game a year before it released. Gamers were naive, starry-eyed morons who failed to realize as soon as the developer/publisher got their money they dropped support for continuing development of their game. Why would they actually finish their EA game? They already got your money; THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY! A handful of real dev studios who value their reputation righteously used Early Access to polish and test their game with the full intention of completing it, but 9 out of 10 the early access apples are rotten. It makes me laugh every time I see those early access games that sell DLC because they're scum. FINISH THE GAME BEFORE SELLING DLC PACKS YOU GREEDY SCAM ARTIST FUCKS!

Imagine being so fucking retarded you compare using a .png as a spray or downloading a model or skin from GameBanana to paying for fucking keys to unlock crates to HOPE that you get the skin or spray you want to use. I dont give a fuck if the creators are getting paid, they removed user generated content solely so they could make more money and you're actually defending that shit like the good little cuck you are.
Julian Bailey
>entirety of Yea Forums Have you ever actually looked at the numbers next to your stupid fucking posts? If you did, you could realise how fucking fast this site moves and how many people are posting. That everybody just stopped discussing everything else only to discuss Risk Of Rain 2? Fuck off back to whatever shit site you came from because it clearly wasnt here.
Kevin Campbell
>still wants to implement them Yet here we are, years after, still no paid mods. It's almost as if he understands that pissing off his userbase is a bad move. Also what the fuck are you trying to say with that Skyrim bit? Are you pro-Workshop or anti-Workshop? Because Skyrim currently mods just fine with or without.
>Crying nonstop Which you can still do, call it whatever you want, but under Epic's current model customer feedback is simply nonexistent. >Workshop A simplistic bare bones mod workshop is still better than no workshop at all. And Steam never bars any third party modding tool if people want to use them, and let's be real for a moment, Skyrim modders almost exclusively the Nexus modding tool and that's it. >User generated content. I am pretty sure you are free to submit your content, and games like TF2 still support community forums. CSGO and Dota 2 are live services, and both have custom game modes. The cosmetics are part of their business models (in case you forgot, they're both free to play) and maybe you don't support content creators, but Valve does and they paid them for their contribution.

user I have no idea what you are trying to accomplish here. Even if you prove that Valve is bad it wouldn't change that Epic is objectively worse and is currently spreading it's cancer through the entire PC gaming scene.
Kayden Edwards
>Why is Valve selling a game it developed and published on its own storefront?!?!?!?!
>Because Skyrim currently mods just fine with or without. No, it doesnt. Sure, considering you're retarded and only want to install your fucking anime sword packs and your cheat items its fine for your retarded needs. What about everybody else that wants to install these massive, expansion pack level mods that completely overhaul the game and add more content that was even in the base game to begin with? They sure as fuck arent on the Steam Workshop because the Steam Workshop is fucking gimped and was built to destroy sites like ModDB and Nexus much like Valve killing custom content in CSGO killed GameBanana. >A simplistic bare bones mod workshop is still better than no workshop at all Not only is that wrong, but we already had better tools. Again, this is just Valve/Steam consolising the PC market. >I am pretty sure you are free to submit your content And you wont be able to use that content in game. >in case you forgot, they're both free to play Did you just fucking forget that CSGO only went free to play last year and has been a $20 title for the last 5 years? So not only did you have to pay $20 to play the game, you had to drop another $2.50 to buy a key to open a chest for the CHANCE to get the skin you wanted to get or the spray you wanted to get even though in CS:S it was dragging and dropping files. Epic is clearly not worse than Valve, though.
Bentley Sullivan
Outside of games Valve itself developed, "Steam exclusives" aren't a thing.
>Epic is clearly not worse Read the entire fucking thread. Ffs, it doesn't even allow you to buy more than a game at a time.
Jacob Brown
Muh community and achievements. Epic store suck btw.
Aiden Bennett
>was built to destroy sites like ModDB and Nexus ????????????? It didn't do that, though. You can still go on Nexus and fucking mod Skyrim through the Nexus launcher you fucking ape. I'd know because I was playing fucking Enderal (nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77868) yesterday, and this mod changes the entire fucking game.
Zachary Gomez
>quality games You clearly only paid attention to Metro and maybe borderlands three if you think that store is filled with quality games, just look at that John Wick exclusive as something that counters this quality game argument
No but they bribe people to do it. Which is the entire point. If a game is exclusive to Steam you can be absolutely certain no bribery has taken place, if a game is exclusive to Epic you know they got bribed to do it, especially if it's a single player game, since there would be no technical reason for why it shouldn't be available on other stores.
Eli Powell
What, you don't think David Cage's Gifts to Gaming™ aren't quality games?
Xavier Morales
How the fuck is that "cancer"? If anything, its anti to Valves cancer Read the thread you fucking moron Steam manipulates the psychology of sales and shopping carts to get dumb motherfuckers like you to buy trash that you're never going to play just because its "cheap". Did you install Enderal though Workshop? No? I wonder why that is Its almost like Valve doesnt want you downloading full conversions and actual quality mods through their workshop and just want you to install dumb shit like anime skins.
>"Steam manipulates the psychology of sales and shopping carts to get dumb motherfuckers like you to buy trash that you're never going to play just because its "cheap"." >he'd actually prefer for Big Brother to tell him how and when to spend his money
Isaiah Campbell
If Epic is clearly not worse then why do you bother defending them? What great of company are they if they managed to piss off so many people? At this point even fucking EA is better than Epic, because at least EA has the decency of putting only their own games exclusive to Origin and not some else's games.
Jaxon Evans
>you have to mindlessly lap up DRM that can take away your games without any ability to contest it
Why doesn't Valve just match the sharing? Just fucking do it, do something. Anything. Sitting it out isn't going to work.
Luke Morales
What the fuck is your argument for the Workshop? On one hand you don't want Valve to have a hand in everything you do, but then when something like the Workshop exists, you want it to take over indie sites? What the fuck is your point?????
Levi Torres
>Steam manipulates the psychology of sales and shopping carts to get dumb motherfuckers like you to buy trash that you're never going to play just because its "cheap". I had laugh at your shit before but this one takes the cake, famie.

With how incompetent epic is, it doesn't seem like Valve needs to do a whole lot. Maybe something like "if you use Steam to advertise your game, you can't make it exclusive to another store", that's about it.
Cooper Roberts
>Why doesn't Valve just match the sharing? They already try when a game sells well-enough, the thing is that it's too costly, even Tim has admitted that he has to cut corners with foreign countries just to maintain the 12% cut. Source: twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1091025939109199879?

You always noticed that epic shills never attempt to argue why their store is better unless its a very vague statement like "muh dev support, muh "quality" games" that are usually easily disproved. They also usually attack other stores features that epic has always going back to "nobody uses those" along with saying valve killed pc gaming. Do these shills think this is somehow supposed to help their argument, because all it has done is just prove how shit epic is when its own supporters can't even find a good argument for why its good and resort to blanket statements about other stores.
They clearly know EGS is one of the worst stores on PC, but they need to justify their hatred for Valve for any reason.
Lincoln Barnes
publishers had no choice. Steam controlled the market and still does. The only publishers who have a choice (EA, Ubisoft) need to have deep pockets and good exclusives. Good exclusives is the only thing that can make you independent of Steam.

It's amusing that for years Pcbros shouted "no steam no buy" to developers and publishers everywhere and then have the audacity to turn around and claim that others are manipulating the market.
Jonathan Cook
Are you too dumb to use the start menu or put a shortcut on your desktop? Has Steam ruined PC gamers so much that they can't launch a game without a 3rd party launcher?
Dylan Reed
nobody has a problem with things like gog people do have a problem with being forced to install a bunch of shitty launchers
Colton Hernandez
I wonder, would there be less pushback if the egs wasn't an incompetently managed pile of garbage?
Juan Richardson
When you have dozens of games that you play regularly, a launcher is the only way to go without making your computer look like a pozzed dump.
Zachary Perez
So it's OK when Valve does it but if anyone else does it it's a shitty launcher? You just proved the point.
Eli Bell
It would be less, but what would actually help is if they stopped doing things that are pro-publisher and anti-consumer, like adding an extra tax to avoid increasing their rates in some countries.
Luis Robinson
>too dumb to use the start menu Nothing is faster or more convenient than hitting the windows key, typing the first couple letters of game's name and hitting enter
>windows search bar Nigger this shit can't even find notepad++ half the time
Jackson Adams
What other launcher offers controller support without having to look for 3rd party drivers that may not even exist? What other launcher offers compatibility features like proton? What other launcher manages mods for you? Steam makes things easier.
Tyler Campbell
Works on my machine :)
Easton Mitchell
Publishers getting direct control over the mod community is NOT a good thing.
Dylan Turner
friend bought it for me... out of 5 total games, we could finish only a single one because of the huge fucking amount of gamebraking bugs
made by a ubisoft studio, not much more to say really. also, it's a terrible console port
Dominic Jackson
What about GOG then? There are some game exclusive to GOG that aren't on Steam
Ian Ross
Selling old games that weren't being sold anywhere else is literally the GoG business model.
Josiah Parker
They're not exclusive because GoG pays them cash
Josiah Sanchez
Then people can just move their mods somewhere else then. You're trying really hard to spin this as a bad thing but there's nothing stopping people from taking their mods off the workshop and putting them somewhere else.
>40 minutes later >still no response So this is the power of Epic shills? Must say that I am not very impressed.
Jaxon Young
he is probably being beaten by his chink overlords due to not shilling hard enough
Brandon King
No one cares about games being exclusive to steam, because it's not bloated unintuitive spyware, which lacks basic features and customer service. Steam is the best thing we currently have, and many people want to keep it.
GOG is a subsidiary of CD Projekt Red, of course they are going to sell their own games on it.
Jaxon Reed
This
Logan Smith
please stop baiting the entire board thanks
Angel Howard
Did you see Bloodlines in there too? Did you ignore it on purpose? That game is published by Paradox Interactive and made by Hardsuit Labs
Aaron Gonzalez
I acknowledge that, but that still doesn't change their business model as a whole. GOG started has a website which sells retro games that aren't sold anywere else, this is still the main appeal.
Jacob Morgan
Remember the mysterious lack of pro Epic posts before E3? Really gets me thinking.
Hudson Evans
But they still sell new and upcoming games. They even discontinued "Good Old Games" as their moniker and are now just "GOG". Whatever they started as doesn't matter.
