I’m not denying they exist, but not everything is related to them. Playing as Zelda would be a fun, harmless twist. Don’t become so mindcucked that you can’t enjoy anything without automatically relating it to something else.

I'm a Zelda fanboy, and while you're correct in your assessment, what's important to remember is that with the constructive criticism Nintendo has received it's entirely possible that BotW2 will correct most of the issues fans have pointed out. I like to hope that someone, somewhere, is starting to realize they have the resources to IMPROVE games by giving a baseline with a bundle of new ideas, and going from the reception that game receives to improve a sequel.

For example, if there had been a Skyward Sword 2 that took player complaints to heart, perhaps SS wouldn't be so critically panned as it is today.

I dunno about that. If BOTW and SS Zelda were any indications, it seems Nintendo doesn't want to have a truly capable Zelda. Waifufags tend to go more for the girl next door type that needs to be protected than the strong capable girl. That's also probably why they are designed to be more average looking compared to the likes of TP and HW Zelda, to enhance the 'cuteness' appeal.

Not really. She's helpless because she's an inexperienced scholar who for most of her story can't tap into her innate magic potential, so she's dependent on Link for protection.
Honestly I'd say the biggest waifu appeals for BotW Zelda are

Except the game really wants you to love her and feel sorry for her. It feels like her inability to use magic is set up as more of a point to pity her, because "look at how hard it is being her, she just wants to be a kawaii researcher but her mean dad keeps pushing her to do magic." It feels very forced to me. And her personality is otherwise overly 'cutesy' aside from the tsun element they added which gets completely dropped after a cutscene or two. The frog scene is waifubait in it's purest form.

Her eyebrows are also ugly, but waifufags find potato faces appealing now days, so they could get away with that while deliberately making her less attractive than Link.
